Q:
Fractal Chests + Magic Find?
No.
" It does not affect any other containers (including champion loot bags), any chests, or any other source of loot.1 2"
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magic_Find
“AoE looting is a mechanic allowing the player to loot multiple bodies at once within a radius.”
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/AoE_loot#AoE_Looting
Then i ask it in a different way.
Are fractal chests “bodies” despite having a chest texture?
Bodies are affected by magic find.
Anet has said that magic find only affects looting foes that you have killed. It does not affect anything else, except possibly the bandit chests in Silverwastes but there’s a specific buff for that. What would make fractal chests different than other chests making them a “body”?

Chests at the end of each fractal map can be opened with aoe loot. Does this mean they are like normal mob loot? i.e. affected by magic find?

And the source where the information comes from is from the devs.

Oh right, I forgot that red posts used to have substance to them ;-) My point was just to not interpret the words on the wiki too literally, as it’s not meant to be an authoritative source.
Sounds like the answer. Chests != monsters, but it’d be great to have this confirmed.
Good luck!

I know that chests are not monsters, but they work like them.
I can loot mossman and his chest by pressing one single button.
What i assume is that they made fractal chests being affected by MF so they don’t have to change the loot table for each fractal level, because when a player have high fractal lvl, it means he plays a lot → he has higher magic find → looks like getting better rewards for being on higher fractal reward level.
Some might say its bullkitten… but don’t you eventually get same amount of exotics from lvl11-19 fractal chests as 49-50’s? = fractal reward level is a fairy tale besides daily chests
Sorry if that came off snarky, I really wasn’t trying to be — of course you know that chests aren’t monsters ;-) I was just trying to summarize the link.
I guess I’m not seeing the basis for the argument that everything autolootable is affected by MF, aside from a strict, optimistic interpretation of a user-written, authoritative wiki page.
However, I see a lot of information saying that all chest drops are unaffected by MF.
I mean, I guess they could be by some odd bug or inconsistent design decision, we’ve seen plenty of both. But based on what information is out there, I’d say it looks like the answer is no :-(
It’s a good question and the autoloot is an odd inconsistency. Maybe we’ll get a red post to clarify on this?

Sorry for the bump, but it just became relevant.
It seems to be fixed, so… was i right?
If so, is it for the better or the worse? Does it mean MF doesnt affect it anymore, so the loot from map chests got worse, or that fractal reward levels got “fixed”?

Can’t really comment on the first part and how it relates to MF in Fractal chest loot tables but I am fairly sure ANET did not alter the Fractal loot tables themselves. The last time they fixed (= lackluster change with no apparent reason) Fractal loot was because the playerbase had found out that 41-50 was less rewarding in terms of skins than 31-40 which was an obvious bug. Since they probably don’t consider the skin drop rates bugged in any way right now, there’s nothing that would require fixing.
