For similiar reason, you can’t use waypoints in dungeons when your party is in combat even if you’re not defeated, right?

I can confirm it doesn’t.

That’s good; I have no issue with this solution to whatever exploit he found then.
That said, I am curious as to how the exploit operated and, due to my investigative personality, will hypothesize on the nature of the exploit. I suspect, because most fractals have much smaller maps than dungeons, that what happened is as follows: Person would die in a boss fight, say against something like Bloomhunger, intentionally disconnect and reconnect, come back to life, and then run back to the boss to rejoin the fight. This would have essentially been graveyard zerging.
The curious thing about this is that even if you’re out of combat and disconnect/reconnect, you come back dead. I wonder why it was implemented that way, hrmm..
That’s what I’m thinking, too, Dusk. There were people after they announced they would remove waypoints while in combat saying things like, “I’ll just disconnect and re-connect, and run back into the dungeon to circumvent it!”.
My guess is that you would be able to force a disconnect to circumvent the Agony at the Jade Maw. I assume that, before a phase change, all but one or two people could force a disconnect, and then have the remaining people activate the phase change. The people left behind would eat the Agony-death but then the remaining players could reconnect, revive the downed players, finish the phase change, and continue on with the fight. This would let them continue progressing above level 50 (which was hard-capped due to a mechanics change in the last patch).

Good call Errant, that is almost definitely the reason for why it kills you regardless of whether you are out of combat or not. Makes sense to me. (Shame the QA team discovered it before we did!! Haha!)

I was thinking it was something along those lines. Or simple avoid dying by d/c. Thankfully I have guildies that don’t mind the disconnecting, but it’s something I’ll have to keep in mind if I pug.
Also, thanks for the quick answer Robert!
