There’s currently an issue where few people want to do the story mode.

This same issue is going to apply ten-fold to Fractal level divisions, in my opinion.

There’s already people in Lion’s Arch “LFG Fractal Level 10”

How long before it’s near impossible to find a party for levels below 10? Yeah, the infusion mechanic is probably going to keep people near level 10 until they start getting Ascended gear.

Oh, and I was prevented from chatting in Lion’s Arch after a few “GLFM” posts (about a minute apart each). This only further illustrates the necessity for a party finder. Even something like the simple one from GW1 would be a vast improvement.

The problem here is that everything below scale 10 is just pointless, it’s a waste of time and grindy as hell. In my book, each lvl 80 char should be able to start at scale 10 if he want’s to. This would solve a lot of problems and remove a lot of grind.

And then the levels above 10 will become an issue when people get ascended gear…

It’s just a dungeon connected with the horrible “gear grind” that ArenaNet has decided to implement.

I mean, as people get infusions to negate agony, 15 will become the new 10. And we’ll have the same issue all over again.

At least Warcraft deals with this by instating an “item level” requirement rather than a “you have to grind the dungeon” requirement.

It will get harder to do the lower levels after a couple of month, but there will always be new players and twinks you can do them with.

And in my book GW2 does it way better than WoW cause old dungeons are not obsolete once they opened new ones.

Except that the fractals will still become dull and boring after you do each of them 10×.

Yes, there’s a bunch of them and they’re selected at random, but there are obviously ones that are more tedious than others.

You’re at the mercy of a random number generator to get a decent set of three dungeons.

Also, the only point to doing the Warcraft dungeons, in my opinion, are Valor/Justice points (which replaced dungeon-specific tokens) to buy max-stat gear.

WoW has done gear grind for far longer than Guild Wars and has perfected it by now.

In addition, you’re assuming a continuous influx of new players. Which is most likely not going to happen, given ArenaNet’s current handling of the game.

I still believe in Arena Net – also they lost a lot of credibility which this ascended gear bogus – the will get rid of the grind sooner or later and you will get to pick a item you want every 5 or 10 levels in FotM. It won’t be a grind for long.
Also, I doubt that future ascended gear will only be achievable via grind, they will go back to their basics and make most of the gear, especially the armor, rather easy to obtain. You won’t have to grind all day to get BIS items and once they did that, each player can again to what he wants instead of what he musts.

You can fly, just take a plane.

I get that I’m a little bit optimistic, but on the other hand, the majority of GW2’s player come from GW1 and a lot of them are pissed due to the latest changes. Arena Net might win some of the gear locusts back, but they will also lose out on their most faithful fans. I’m convinced that losing the GW1 community will hurt Arena Net more than losing those gear locusts which they will lose either way cause FotM and ascended gear is not what they are looking for.

They need at least to get rid of those infinite levels and make them max 10 even if the jump in difficulty is huge. Each level should be repeated with no DR penalty. It seems obvious to me that this dungeon was meant for the fixed groups only in mind.
