Why are Fractal weapons the only dungeon exclusive weapon skin that isn’t available for tokens?
When Fractals first came out, it made some sense that they weren’t available from a dungeon vendor, as the only tokens for Fractals were the simple relics which could be easily farmed by doing lower level fractals. However, now that Pristine Relics drop from only 10+ Fractals, why are we still suffering from the combination of this RNG account bound nonsense?
The dungeon token system was designed to circumvent the frustration of farming for something that could only be obtained at random, and yet here it is, sneaking back into the game. Arenanet already listened with the furor over ascended rings, so why not Fractal weapons?
It doesn’t matter how many relics it’s available for, it could be for 300 relics or 1000, I see people constantly throwing up convoluted recipes and concepts but the point is we want a guaranteed way to get the weapon we WANT and can USE.
I assume ArenaNet has a “desired rarity” of fractal weapons for the sake of prestige or some other (warning: opinion!) nonsense.
Personally, I also rather get a skin while I still enjoy the parts of the game they originate from, instead of having to grind the weapon until I am fed up with the part of the game it belongs to. Looking at various type of recent skins and reward chests, that is not really the case with how rewards currently work in GW2 though.
Various suggestions have been made for converting a fractal skin + pristine relics into a chosen fractal skin. That seems a better solution than just buying skins for barter currency since it keeps the value of item drops.
I’m with you on any and all updates to fractals, but the devs have been completely silent on the matter. It’s obvious they want players to avoid and/or forget FOTM even exists in the game.
I’d even applaud a weapon ticket dropping so you can pick out a weapon usable by your profession. I’ve made new characters just to use some of the fractal weapons I’ve obtained. Fun having a level 1 thief running around with a fractal dagger.

A weapon ticket is a good idea, if they’re determined to keep it purely RNG. You’d at least get something you can use from your luck, and we know they have the system implemented because of the gamble boxes from Southsun and Flame and Frost. Obviously not as ideal as being able to work over time for it, but at least you’d no longer get items you couldn’t use or sell.
I don´t like the idea of getting them so easy like that, my fractal weapons are something that makes me proud as a gamer, i dont want to start seeing them all over the place like common weapons. If u want some u need to earn them.
That’s exactly what I want though, to be able to earn them. Would they really be everywhere if you could get them for 1000 pristine relics? And do you think that the people who get a fractal weapon their first or second run into 20+ fractals shouldn’t have them? As it is, the RNG is probably making them more common than they would be if they were extremely expensive.
What part of waiting for the 1/1000000 RNG makes you feel like you’ve earned anything. Most of the fractal swords you see are from people who barely did more than a few 20s, and yet I’ve got a friend who has done 500 fractals on 2 accounts, most of them over 30 and has never even gotten a single fractal skin. There is simply no prestige in this system, it proves nothing having a fractal skin other than hey, I’m the luckiest guy in the room. And if there was a ticket system, you wouldn’t see any more fractal skins, you’d only see a few of them being more common and some much less common. But alas, anet will ignore this thread like it has the countless other fractals threads since January.
I posted that back in Feb. I can’t believe its already June.

Anyone who believe there’s ANY prestige in fractal weapons are just dumb. Is there prestige in winning a scratch and win?

Yeah, it’s been on my mind too for a while, and I’ve made posts on Reddit about it but I’m still bothered by it, and I’ll keep complaining about it for as long as it bothers me. Which might be a while :p
Gating and grinding. FotM was an experiment to try and save the exodus from the game of people who hit lvl 80 and then asked what is the end game?
FotM and CoF p1 are my most replayed dungeons, I’m sure people can make some assumptions why., but that’s heading into a different thread.
In any event the OP is right. It flew in the face of everything ANet had stated. FotM to me is ANet thinking their initial idea of progression was wrong.
