Fractal weapons
they are not sold. they drop in the higher scales of the Fractal dungeon.
:)
Finally! DROPS! Thank you. Hopefully it’s a chance-to-drop system, not a 100% guaranteed weapon drop?
Edit: oh, and please, rework your existing dungeons with the implementation of this system in mind. Makes things so much more fun and worth doing. I hate the token system.

They are indeed a drop chance, not a 100% chance.
Awesome news. Now just tell me one last thing:
Does the weapon drop for the whole group so we roll/whatever for it, or does the weapon drop for me/whoever only?
Personally I’m in favor for the first system (like in WoW) because it adds additional suspense if you compete over an item with a fellow GW2-er. Also, you feel way more rewarded/satisfaction if you do receive it.

Bah.
Well crude I enjoyed that I always was making progress towards my goal of getting whichever weapon or armor I wanted in all the other dungeons with the token system. So now I have to fight my way through the difficulty levels , be potentially forced into getting ascended gear and infusion just to get around agony, and then I have to just luck out and manage to get the actual weapon I wanted……

revolutionary mmo they said.
no endless – braindead farm for a drop they said…
Yes, thank you. Thank you for taking the unique, fun system you had and tossing it away in favour of pandering to the WoW gear treadmill crowd.
Thank you for taking the one mmo where we could progress at our own pace and turning it into another loot race.
The reason so many MMOs fail against WoW is because they try to BE WoW. The reason GW1 succeeded is because it was NOT WoW.
Knowing these two things, you now try to turn GW2 into WoW. Do I… even have to explain the level of failure here?
Raging Bull: People like you are the reason every MMO ends up being exactly the same. If you want WoW mechanics, go play WoW.
Arenanet: I pray you recognise the foolishness of your actions and revert this trend before it’s too late. We want to play GW2, not WoW Clone #564/beta.

the main question is how scale are we talking about?
6+, 10+, 20+?

it also has no shop (or rather very limited). imagine how it would’ve looked like with shop & gems…

Actually on this patch they said they wont be any 3months new gear like wow.

They said a lot of things.
Bring more rng elements because apparently it adds suspension. While we are there, make sure they drop as bound on acquire so you will be more excited to get speargun on elementalist. Can’t wait to farm it in upcoming months!
(edited by haviz.1340)
Please don’t make bound-on-accuire weapons that are a random drop :C It’s awful not getting the weapons you need time after time after time and getting practically nothing instead because you can’t sell the drop and you have no use for it.

Mate, that was a sarcasm
I know, but it doesn’t mean that they aren’t bound on accuire :P

If they are, I want that thing that anet’s designers are drinking, smoking or consume in other forms.
If these only drop over the difficulty scale where agony resistance is necessary, or they’re BoP, I give up. I wanted some of this stuff for my elementalist, but he isn’t my main. I’m not going to have him in ascended gear any time soon, if ever. And several of my friends refuse to chase ascended gear on principle, and I can’t blame them. I’ll be joining in on that if you’re now gating stuff behind an agony check.
Because really, at that point, there’s nothing stopping you from gating better/newer ascended drops in a similar way, and there’s the gear treadmill you promised us we wouldn’t be getting.

All of the new weapon skins are Account Bound. So you can choose which character to send them to.
There is also a change going into the current chest given exotic armors and weapons that will make them Account Bound and Soulbind on Use. So you can send those extra armors and things you get to your bank for your other characters.
sigh
This whole thing is even worse than i expected. Didn’t they themselves say that grinding for an item with a drop chance isn’t fun an therefore implemented the token system?
This was great and i love it as you can make a bit of progression every run.
What do we get now.
Exactly that, a drop chance. And it gets even better. No it can’t drop from the beginning, in adddition you first have to reach a certain fractal lvl.
And than they are accound bound so you can’t get them on the TP….
That realy frustrates me, as I like the fractal skins quiet a lot and wanted to get one for almost every of my 8 characters.
But now I don’t even know if I will even be able to get any at all.
If they just drop at insanly hight fractale lvls I will most likely never reach those in the first place.
And If i do, I just don’t want to grind for 100+ runs just for one skin.
The more i get to know aout this patch the worse it gets.
I just want to end that agony…..

That is a fantastic idea and I agree.
We need to start rolling for gear now – yes yes – brilliant
Fight over shiney skritt like skritt likie
I don’t mind that they are dropped but why account bound? The chance of getting the skin is slim already, now if I get one I don’t want, what am I supposed to do with it?

Turn it into ectos or throw it in the forge is all you can do.
These are not the weapons with ascended stats are already are they? they are the weapon skins?
Retired Until Expansion or Meaningful Content is Released.
they are exotic with new skins that you can only get in the higher levels of the fractales.
whatever higher means
how is any of this a grind? I find running the instances that change and get harder really fun. the random epic loot is just a bonus. stop crying people
Yeah but I would really like to have the new pistol skin, and with this system I am not guaranteed to get one ever, I can just keep getting weapons I don’t need/want and I can’t sell/exchange them for the ones I initially wanted – they are just useless to me.

lmao, you’re on the forums, this is where people come to cry and whine. Very few posts are ever made in a positive light, let the whiners whine, they’ll lock this thread soon enough. This dungeon is still token based clearly by the tokens you get as a reward.
OH MY GOD!!! You mean this gear that’s more impressive than exotics is harder to get then exotics?! WHY!!! oh wait CAUSE ITS worth more… if Anet could now lock this thread so more people with a lack of patience and common sense could no longer post. Would be awesome.
PS: Thank you arenanet for adding a system that can never bore you or lack for skill, this dungeon truly is about the mechanics and skill of players and I have truly enjoyed it. Thank you

Can we get an idea as to what “higher level” means please! I’d REALLY appreciate it so I know what lvls to start farming. Thanks!
(Personally I like dungeon drops like this, I think it’s needed to keep the longevity of the game going strong.)

This is the exact problem, the original design of GW/GW2 is that you do the dungeon for fun not for loot. Now anyone who wants BiS gear has to run a dungeon which they may not enjoy (because they prefer WvW or simply don’t enjoy this dugeon).
And for PVE the devs said they wanted to move away from random drops so it didn’t feel like you were trying for something you might never be lucky enough to get, so instead they had a token system so you could work towards something you were guaranteed to get. People are upset that these systems which were promised for this game for years have been changed in a few months.
Also voicing an opinion you do not agree with is not crying.

Probably 30+.
I’m not seeing the problem here, since I’m pretty sure those weapons simply have unique appearances with exotic stats, and exotic statted items are very easy to obtain elsewhere. Ascended weapons aren’t even in the game yet as far as I’m aware.
This is exactly the kind of RNG grind that’s appropriate; for unique cosmetics.

I guess you’re right but I would like to have some sense of progression toward my goal when grinding, for example by gathering tokens, instead of hoping for a random drop that will suit me and can never happen.

For all those that don’t seem to know, these weapons are EXOTIC.
So we are not talking about any ascended gear here.
The main problem here is that, the weapons probably drop at such a high lvl that only the most hardcore groups can reach it. And than there most likely it only is some small drop chance.
So a lot of people who like the skins can probably never get them as they don’t have the time/ skill to ever get there.
Thats also what worries me, because those weapons look great and I want several of them, but I don’t have the time to speen thousands of hours just for a few weapons.
These weapons are entirely cosmetic people. Skins… that’s it. If you can’t get them then you aren’t part of the hardcore-skin obsessed crowd anyways. I fail to see the problem here.

My only issue is that all the exotic items you get in here are account bound. Why can’t I sell them on the tp if I don’t want them for any character.

Hey thanks for not addressing any of our actual points.
I suggest you apply for a job at Blizzard, because your design philosophy will only hasten this game’s decline into obscurity. We don’t need it and we don’t want it.
Did anyone get a fractal weapon yet? I’m curious as to what level of difficultly they start dropping at. Thanks!

So wait – running a dungeon for 1001 times, getting tokens each run until you collect enough so you can buy a piece of armor WAS REVOLUTIONARY, UNIQUE and NOT A GRIND?
I’m… Speechless…
This is a good change indeed. WoW did so many things right, and this was one of them. Or it wouldn’t have 14 million subscribers at one point. So many years down the road, it’s still the most played MMORPG. Case closed. If YOU don’t like it, well that’s YOUR problem.

Sure it’s a grind. It’s a grind with logical progression, with tangible goals and guarantees that the work you put in will give you the items you want.
No, this isn’t a good change. If WoW does so many things right, go play WoW. Stop trying to turn every other MMO out there into WoW.

It IS a good change. It adds a suspense factor to the game play and makes things more interesting. “Logical progression”, as you call it, just bored so many people to death that the ANet guys had to change/tweak their initial system. And it’s a good thing they collect data and respond to it accordingly, there might still be hope for this game (if they continue to do so).
Now, I WOULD go play WoW but I don’t want to spend the cash on it’s money subscription. If GW2 manages to surpass, or at least reach the WoW heights you can bet your butt it will soon have 15-16 million ACTIVE players (if WoW managed to have 14 million with the monthly sub).

Are you high?
There’s NOTHING fun about doing the same dungeon over and over and over. NOTHING.
Adding a random chance to get a rare drop doesn’t make it any more fun, it just means that some people get the great reward for doing it once, some people get it for doing it 100 times, and some never get it at all.
At least with the tokens system you had an end goal in sight, you knew how many times you would need to do the dungeon to get what you want (less times now that they added bags of wonderous goods).
With RNG drops you literally have no end in sight, you’re just waiting after every boss kill to see if you won the lottery.
It makes ADDICTIVE gameplay, sure, skinner box technique has been used in WoW, in Casinos, in Slot Machines for years, works perfectly, keeps people playing for sure.
But is it fun?
I can confirm that fractal weapon skins (exotic weapons) drop from the daily reward chest Fractal lvl 20+
My team got one fractal weapon yesterday
The bigger question is the drop of infused ascended rings. I assume they drop at lvl 30+

Good to hear, now we at least know when to start farming for those weapons.
To answer your question. Wiki says the following:
“Level 21: Infused rings begin to drop from bonus chests (ring with +5 agony resistance). "
This is really heart-saddening. I can’t believe if we want these skins, we’re now forced to GRIND. We’re now forced to spend lots of gold many of us don’t have to create these Ascended back pieces, and infusions. We’re now forced to (on the grinding point) do these over, and over, and over with a chance of not getting what we “NEED”. Many of us are in love with our ONE lvl 80. Are these skins Transmutable to lvl 1-80? Or just lvl80?
Please tell me they’re allowed to be on Low Levels… That will make the boo boo go away ANET!
Uho I think I broke the forums ! I can’t see any posts.
If I ever do get one of these weapons, it will probably be a type I never use and, since they’re account bound, I won’t be able to sell.
they are not sold. they drop in the higher scales of the Fractal dungeon.
Random small chance drops that you can get only by grinding? Shameful!
Just did fractal level 28 last night. I’m an engineer.
I got a fractal dagger.
I guess it’s nice that it’s a dagger large enough that an Asura can hold it and be seen, but…
