This difficulty scaling progression is an absolutely terrible mechanic. Basically the playerbase interested in progressing in this dungeon gets divided into a large and increasing number of small subgroups. Joining a lower difficulty group means you get no progress so it’s wasted time.

This is just the beginning and finding 5 people at the exact same difficulty level is already impossible. And soon the spread will be so big that even a cross-server worldwide automated grouping system won’t help.

I think a complete redesign of the progression system is needed. Something akin to experience bar and levels would work infinitely better – you’d gain a less % progression when playing lower levels but still make some progress.
For example:
completing 3 fractals at difficulty 1 level under your max would give 80% progress towards next level,
2 levels below your max 60%
3 levels below your max 40%
4 levels below your max 20%
5 levels below your max 10%
6 and lower 0%

The system could even give some small progress for single completed fractals in the sets of 3, for example (at your level) 1st 10%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 60% (to eliminate wasted time when crash/disconnect happens but not give any incentive to rerolling easiest fractals).

Another great idea, can add it to the list of alternative difficulty methods at:

I redo lower fractals to help friends and get money.
Fractals are insane money, regardless of the level you do. On top of that, if you’re a higher fractal, the incentive to do lower fractals is having a larger possible pool to play with in the higher levels.

Our fractals group is ahead of everybody else we know, and if 1 person would take an evening off, we wouldn’t be able to play unles we dragged people up.

Ive been literally stuck on Difficulty 2 due to everyone else moving past me. I made a post about it somewhere so am not going to go into details of the methods ive used to get a party but believe me ive tried most things. No one is willing to do lower fractals so this is a great idea to decrease the segregation of the playerbase.

The fractals are fine as they are, because 1st 6 – 9 difficulties are the easiest and in my opinion are for pugs.10 and higer difficulty i think are not for pugs. They are only for coordinated groups who want a challenge.
This dungeon is the same as other MMOs raids. In WoW you have LFR which is for casuals, normal mode raids which are for more progressive guilds and Heroic raids which are not for everyone.
Fractals concept is the same as raids. Not everything is for everyone.Levels 1-7 for casuals and pugs.Levels 8-9 for more coordinated groups.level 10 and higer is only for top players.
