Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had experience running fractals with a sub-optimal (5 80s) group.

My friends and I were hoping to try out some fractals (we’re just in it for the fun, we’re not hardcore folks). We have 4 30ish characters (1 Guardian, 2 Elementalist, 1 Warrior) and would prefer to not pug anyone.

Can we run Fractals with this group? I know we wont get far, but can we at least succeed in the first few levels? Or should we stick to dungeons? Or are dungeons going to be impossible too without pugging someone?

You need at least 3 players to progress certain fractals, though you seem to have that. The early levels are incredibly easy, and although you should expect it to take longer due to both having fewer players than 5 and being lower leveled, you can certainly succeed given good player skill. I imagine you could make it to level 9 without much trouble, though you’ll probably want a fifth player once bosses start inflicting agony at 10 (though it isn’t strictly necessary). Team damage mitigation goes a long way.

Rising is pretty much dead on.

If you guys watch some guides beforehand it should help. Anything under level 10 is just figuring out the mechanics, easy.

You can do it, as someone said the lower lv frac are really easy, from my experience i have made a run just for fun with a lv 2 , 26,28,80,80

I did my first 10 fractals at lv 40-50, so it’s more then doable. try to have at least one lv80 with you that knows the route for help the first couple of times, then after that you should be golden in a full group. Just realize it will be a bit more of a challenge. =D

I think you can do the first 9 levels with sub-optimal parties. But you will sure need extra defense and offense from exotic items, so that means you will need lvl 80.
And nice idea, I think that non-80 doing fotm is a nice thing if you are willing to teach people how to do it, they get prepared for it when they hit 80

I’ve been farming the fractals as I level my Guardian.

You get a lot of fools claiming “Fractals are for 80s”.

I get booted out of half the groups before we even zone in.

If -anything- goes wrong in a group, the lowbie will always get blame. Even if you’re the only one there doing the mechanic (hello torches in the ice fractal, you know, the one’s the lowbie is running around with lighting the fires while the rest of you keep getting downed and failing to help each other).

But it is perfectly doable. Just bring a super-thick skin, or run with guildies that know better.

They’re actually -easier- to run with a mixed level group than story mode dungeons are.

I agree with many posters. Sub-10 fractals are actually a fun experience for people under 80 unlike a lot of the dungeons in this game. Do your thing!

skill is much more important than level, IMO. So I expect it’s fully possible, though I do recommend a 5th that can show you the ropes.
