I want to get into Fractals. I play Guardian. My biggest issue is that at higher levels it feels like I have a lot of setbacks. What is a good setup with Scepter/Focus + GS? I want to play a power build.

What are some things I should be aware of and avoid doing?

Simple: Don’t play Guardian at all after Fractal Level 80, that’s a shame because before HoT, Guardian was top tier in fractals.

GS symbol is a retal giving symbol, so that’s a no-no. Light fields you just need your team not to needlessly blast. Don’t trait virtues, don’t use stand your ground. Just keep retal out of your rotation. I don’t think any builds use any crucial blasts so it shouldn’t be an issues if you just put a little thought into it.

I do wish they’d change boon thieves to just stealing boons and maybe give themselves some baseline buff if they are able to strip like 5 might for every boon they strip, still dangerous but without the imbalance.

People will soon realize that swamp is made a lot easier with a Guardian in the group. As for high levels, Scepter/Shield is very useful and doesn’t give any horrible buffs for the enemies.

Thanks for the advice guys. You’d think they wouldn’t make an entire weapon/weaponset a bad thing by adding a feature like that…

Just wanna comment a bit. a no-no doesn’t mean “don’t use gs” coz gs has a good pull utility. Some places you wanna use it is at uncategorized the 4 golem boss and arch diviner during the bell phase to pull 4 adds to the center.

That’s a niche application for GS, but mesmers do the job better. Generally, hammer is way better than GS in high level fractals if you wanna play guard.

So I had to wait 9 months to play fractals with my guardian again, wow…

Well if your doing t4 fractals and have no boon rip your comp sucks. I main gaurd and do t4s every day and there is always 1-2 condo necros or a chrono. So its never an issue. Protection is good and gaurd damage is good. Of course the best comp it like all condo necros but gaurd is fine. Run hammer and what ever secondary u want that isnt bow since scepter is just better
