Is there really any point in doing 30 or 40 fractals? By the time you are able to do them you should have the rings you wanted. And since you cant get earrings in fractals, why bother going past 30. I mean if fotm 10-19 is okay with with no AR, fotm 20-29 is okay with 10 AR. But why would you go past 30, if your just trying to get ascended gear.

You cant buy earrings with pristine relics, the only way you get them is through laurels and guild commodations, which has absolutely nothing to do with FoTM.

By the time you get to fotm 29 you should already have your backpiece.

The skins in fotm are unappealing, I don’t see why anyone would farm for them.

I just started doing fotm for ascended gear but when I found out earrings aren’t obtainable just doing fotm, why continue futher? Theres better content to do then re-running a harder version of the same thing you ran for weeks. Like WvW, and theres better ways to make money like CoF p1, so why continue further in fotm past 30 if theres nothing to gain.

Now if they had earrings droppable at 40 that would give me an incentive.

Outside of weapons (which I actually like), there isn’t much point. There are some who enjoy the challenge, though. I like the fractals in general much much more than any other form of pve in the game but you are correct, high level fotm gives kitten for rewards and if you’ve browsed the forums in the past few months you’d be able to see us complaining about it without any response.

The higher up you go the more likely you will get skins. Usually 1-2 people get a skin at 48. It doesn’t seem like skins drop too often in 30s and it’s pretty rare in the 20s. People just do 40s for skins and if you have a good group it doesn’t take much/any longer than 20-30s so doing any lower than 48 in that case would be a waste of time. It is also fun to do 48 with a good group since it is the only challenging content in the game other than lupi. So basically skins and challenge.

You would think the loot would be better too but dungeons are pretty much in a broken state that need some well deserved love and support. Anet has been pretty quiet on this section of the forum so we can only hope there are good things to come and soon.

This comes from a lot of players….
So maybe:
1) something is broken
2) % are the same
3) increment is so low that is unnoticeable

why people play fotm?
because they are fun……and less boring than farming cof or world bosses.

actually for me gw2 fun things are fotm, www and guild rush. ._.

Also some players play higher levels to avoid bad players :| unfortunately even a single one can ruin a run sometimes.

Never got any skins at 40-50 fotms but I have gotten 5 skins from 20 to 38 dailies. Since this I have decided it’s not worth going over 40, especially given the extra time it takes. most of my skins came from 20+ and I believe I only got 1 from 38. The drop rate is also incredibly low, I have done HUNDREDS of runs. I do not exaggerate. some days I would run 3 characters through 20 daily then run 2 through 30+ daily. Then I would run my main through 40+ daily. Is this just RNG ? Probably.

High end fractals have a pretty good chance of giving you an infused ring, higher the level the better. Yeah you probably have already gotten a pair of rings, but eh there’s always alts or maybe you’ll get one for a different stat layout you want to play.

You do get more fractal relics for doing higher level runs, which is nice for loading up on 20 slot containers for your main or for alts, or buying skill points/obby shards. 2850 relics total to make the glowy fractal backpiece as well.

Better chance of getting a fractal weapon skin.

Just depends whether or not that stuff interests you. If none of it does, then don’t bother. Course you’ll usually make a couple gold on average out of doing the full run too.
