Me and my group recently reached level 50 about 2 weeks ago and to our surprised, Jade maw agony is ticking on us for hundreds of thousands of damage. Not even with our member with max agony res possible resisted and immediately died. We tried res rushing and ops, agony gets reapplied killing immediately too. So what gives? res rushing on 48 does not make agony reapply but it does on 50.
Is it the dungeon hard capped or did they remove that recently?
Jade Maw is not possible at 50+ with current gear. It deals 1172%HP/sec, which would require 980 AR to completely mitigate.
You could exploit past it before January, so that is how people are above 50. If you have someone above 50, you can do odd level Fractals to keep increasing your level. Nothing changes past 50 other than trash mob level (mobs are 84 at 80, the true cap). Agony is still 72%HP/sec, and loot is still the same.
It’s an intentional wall, but there has never been a response on why. I doubt we’ll ever get a straight answer.

technically it’s soft capped since if someone is currently 80, you could have them start odd level fractals to get you to 79.
But assuming you are all at 50, correct, you can’t currently pass jade maw at 50+
I’ve ran into the same issue, an official response would be most welcome. It’s a great disappointment to be at lvl 50 jade maw only to wipe and not being able to continue. If the developers don’t want people to continue, can’t this be done by just not letting us in at all?
Or of course, up the challenge and just let us continue.
I think they’ll just add more AR items/infusion slots what have you, over time, and so eventually we’ll be able to do 50, and so on. Just gotta wait for em I suppose.
The way they’ve handled this entire zone is really a joke. Their official response is that they didn’t intend for players to advance beyond a certain cap. Yet here we are still cheesing jade at level 48. Wasn’t that same exploit the same issue being referred to? I don’t know I really don’t get it. Maybe they want people buying revive orbs who screw up?

can survive maw at 48 now. Could have done it at 35 ar on thief (with a water field and help), guard (tome and help), or necro before they buffed agony and 40 ar after the buff. Any class can survive it with 45 ar.
Still is complete bs that they made it so that the players who actually were good enough to 50s+ get blocked due to the lack of creative design for a final boss in the fractals. It’s obvious that they wasted all their creativity and good design choices on the rest of the dungeon and even then, only at the lower lvls. Dredge cart and water krait… if I wanted to spend 20 mins killing trash I’d be killing things in open world pve.
Welcome to the dungeon with infinit levels that ends at level 50.
Fractals was so good when it got out, now like the rest of the game is nerfed.

so according to your logic, healing through damage is cheesing it?
Almost forgot, i got an answer from him. And there it is.
So it is either bad communication between devs, a bug or they are just straight up lying to us and don’t want to admit the dungeon is capped.
Either way we would really appreciate more transparency. It is really REALLY frustrating to go through all that hard work to hit an invisible wall.
Are we supposed to test out each patch or what? More agony resistance was already released. This cap isn’t necessary. 45 agony res is enough to easily survive a 40 level bracket, giving us chance to go on with a 50 by whatever means we can do it to help mitigate and survive the damage.
My logic its simple, most parties are using the 99% which is the same exploit Anet is referring to… I’m sorry that’s too hard of a concept for you to grasp.
