So, I got disconnected and it just completely infuriated me. It took me so long to get a party together and then I try and rejoin the group and they’re still inside and I can’t rejoin them. Then on top of this, I check the forums to see if I can rejoin or what and find not only I can’t rejoin, but since I am the instance owner, if I leave the party, go offline, or change characters it will kick the others who are still going. So now it’s a moral decision and I stay because I don’t want to feel bad for ruining a run. There should be a function that allows you to rejoin the group when disconnected.

There was just a patch. If you start a dungeon before a patch and go out of the instance for whatever reason, download the newest patch, then try to reenter it won’t work since you are on different versions.

First, you can reconnect to a fractal instance if you d’c. Yes, you can, since a patch of a few months ago (can’t remember which… january?). I had this bug happen once: a pug wasn’t able to log back in after d’cing. If I remember well, he had to be kicked from the party and then reinvited to fix this. Of course, you can’t do this if you’re the instance owner (would cause the instance to be closed) so it wouldn’t have solved your problem, but I wanted you to know that normally, if you go offline as the instance owner, you can log back in IF you don’t swap characters. That’s what I gathered from personal experience.
To sum it up:
- it probably was an unexpected and pretty rare occasion;
- you can d’c as the instance owner and log back in, technically (I did it once, logged off and logged back in, I was the instance owner);
- you cannot alt-swap as the instance owner, it closes the instance;
- you can’t leave the party either;
- you can’t be kicked;
- and for the record, if you’re not the instance owner you can leave, be kicked, swap, log off and still be able to get in, but in some cases it could bug as it happened to me.
Same thing applies for every dungeon, afaik. FotM is just more bugged?
Many bugs are tied to dungeons instances; you might encounter players that can’t see the pop-up “inviting” you to the instance or that aren’t able to get in at all without leaving the party first. That’s what it is, but it’s not the norm.
Another example, always for the record: fractals 28, the party leader goes offline at the third fractal. Nobody gets kicked and we complete the instance; however, it would have closed if we kicked him, so had to 4-man it.
Who knows, maybe these are the bugs and the norm would be an insta-kick for everyone if the party leader logs off, but I doubt it. I saw it happen way too many times to seriously think it’s a bug. You might want to test it out in a dungeon, logging off and back in to see if it’s still accurate or they changed something. I’ve found no info on wiki.

E: bah, just a patch. A wall of text wasted. At least you should know better now.

I get all that, but as I stated, I was the instance owner. The instance owner should be allowed back into their own instance…
To explain what happened:
I was at the grawl final boss, everything kinda froze, and then the screen went black and my connection had an error. I ended up having to close the screen because it stayed black, then when I logged in, I was in LA dead. I used the nearest wp and went back to the fractals gate and it moved me to a separate instance.
