Guild Wars 2

Can anyone explain to me how this works/what it does/if there are thresholds you pass to unlock access to certain drops/etc.? The only explanations I can google and find are from years-old posts that either seem to be outdated or unclear in explaining it.

I.E. Do I have higher chances as Ascended stuff, exotics, etc., if I complete fractals with a higher personal reward level? Does it also work with the level of the fractal you are doing, and in what ways?

There is:
1) The fractal level
2) Your personal reward level
The fractals level aka fractal scale is the difficulty. a s100 mai trin is gonna be harder than a s(kittens get ridiculous, srsly)50 and the rewards will also be better.
Your personal reward determines what scale of fractals you can open.
If you have a prl of 40, you can open every fractal up to 40, you may however join any party in a higher fractal, the highest level determines what your party can do.
Whenevr you play a fractal equal or higher to your prl, it is increased by 1.
Ohh and your prl also sets the karma gain from fractals, but not other loot.

Rewards, including bonus ones, are determined by your personal reward level. For example, a character whose personal reward level is 8 but completes a fractal at difficulty scale 12 will have no chance to receive rings or weapons. [Note: this may be outdated]………This is from Guild Wars 2 wiki.

Rings start dropping at personal reward level 10, so your statement is bunk. If you compare his rewards to yours by the end of the run you’ll notice he’ll receive around 7 relics compared to your 16 relics.

But the one he got was infused, which start at reward level 26 i thought.

PRL may not matter anymore for ascended due to them coming from the achievement chests.

A yeah right. I remember that was a thing, but it has been so long since that mattered.^^
Actually pretty funny that its still bound to these low levels after the fractal rework.
