I want to know if this has happened to anyone.

I joined a pug group for a lvl 49 fractal run. These usually take me between 1:30 hours and 2 hours to complete. This time however, after an hour and a half, the party hit the dredge fractal.

After 2:30 hours, the party enters the Jade Maw instance. A vote goes up to kick the 5th member of the pug. Someone clicks yes. I type to ask if its possible to invite him back, a vote goes up to kick the 4th member of our pug. Guy 4 gets kicked.

I type “What the hell”. I get kicked.

I’m dumped back into Gendarran fields. My chat logs been wiped of party messages so I’ve lost the names of the people who were kicked and the ones who kicked us. I can’t message to ask what happened and I’ve got no way to report the people who did it.

I’m pretty sure the two people who were left were from the same server and I’m left with the impression that this was planned from before the Fractal started.

I’ve never complained about any aspect of GW2 but I find this instance sickening.

The amount of time required to rise to fractal lvl 49 is insane. Easily over 90 hours considering you never have a single wipe or failed fractal. I know hard core players who regularly slay world bosses (tequatl and 3 headed wurm), I speak to the people who organize these massive events over teamspeak and vent but none of the people I know have lvl 49 fractal clearance or the AR required to transverse it.

Unlike the other dungeons in the game, I do not have the option of joining a guild or “running with friends”. And so what if someone kickes me from CoF? Who cares. There is a physical limit to how much damage can be done to me, and usually only if I’m clumsy.

In this however there is absolutely no way to tell if someones going to use the rest of your afternoon to sell off 3 lvl 49 fractal chests to friends or buyers. The people need not even be from the same guild or even server. There is no way to stop this from happening and no way to pin these people afterwards.

The situation has been engineered to the point where it is impossible to avoid the scam and impossible to do anything about it afterwards.

You’d need 4 of the people in your party to be known and trust worthy to stop this sort of thing from happening. So we come down to pugging a single person max or abandoning LFG. A choice which is not an option if you trying to run high level fractals. And dare I add to the debacle that my lvl 49 runner is neither a Warrior, Mesmer nor Guardian. What about stating that about once every 4 days my internet connection stutters, killing my connection to games like GW2 – that being the person to hold open the 1.5 to 2.5 hour long dungeon is both feasibly and morally questionable to me.

I do not accept this is as being the players responsibility. The set up of this instance is plain malicious and guarantees the success of any two people wishing to perform the scam – without worry of repercussions.

The commitment required for these high level fractals is too high to shrug off as “the player’s fault” or “join a guild”.

I want a counter vote in kicking the 5th member of high level fractals or at least a three fifths majority. Failing that, the ability to report the people who kick me from level 49 fractals – and heck, only send it through to Anet for adjudication if OVER HALF OF THE GROUP HAS BEEN KICKED BY THE SAME TWO PEOPLE.

But please let me know, am I alone in this grievance or have other people suffered the same instance that I just did?

Erm, man I feel for you, but there is like an “I’ve been kicked from X” new topic everyday. So yeah it happens to a lot of people, and no nothing is being done against it. Just note down people’s names when you start the fractals (or just take 4 screenshots).

Never happened to me. But i am always afraid when i see 2 or more guys from the same guild in fractal pug group. If someone will kick me, i can tell you i will be furious as hell and probably i will make a topic like you as well. I understand it, this is the worst thing someone can do ingame, after 2h someone kicks you and sell your slot or give it to his friends, but every fractal i join, i do screenshot of all players who are with me. It is sad that something like this is happening.

Don’t think I’m not being sympathetic, because I am. To have all that time wasted is terrible. But I see one of these posts popping up every day, so I would have thought people would have learned never to pug fractals. In fact, don’t pug anything – fractals or dungeons. Join a guild which speed-runs dungeons and/or fractals and just forget about pug’ing altogether. It’s really that easy. If you’re pug’ing and something bad happens, imo, it’s your own fault for pug’ing in the first place.

Even if you know their names you can’t do more than whisper them some nice words or remember to avoid them in the future. Just open the kitten instance yourself. It’s not like “swamp ready” is a huge selling point.

Meh, i dont come to the forums often. Wouldn’t have started a new post if I’d seen any others or knew where they were. It just sickens me that it is so easy to pull off a scam of this level :/

Anet has shown zero interest in this issue so:

  1. Don’t fractal in a pug that has two members from the same guild.
  2. If you must violate 1, always be the first person to enter the instance.
  3. If you must violate 1 and 2, write down the account names of everyone in your party. When you get kicked by them, don’t party with them again.

Like others here seem to do, when I happen to pug dungeons or fractals with 2 people or more from the same guild I take a screenshot at start so I have proof to report them by ticket if they kick me in the end. I was never kicked for any reason until now (and I always PUG), so I think what you describe is a rare occurrence, luckily.

I’ve never been kicked per se from a long run, but there’s always that potential. My feelings tend to be split when joining a guild/friend run….

I’ve had groups where the guild/friends were efficient and its great to see such a level of coordination and Ive literally slipped into the group and had some of the best runs ever HOWEVER

There’s also groups where it’s obvious that their egos out outweighed their own ability. So rather than having a conversation about their own builds or perhaps the fact that they cant %#@ing play. The just drop the groups fail on the ‘pug’.

A warrior, a guardian, and an elementalist walk into an open field…
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”

I personally roll my fractals before starting LFG – or a friend starts it. If you kick me, you lose also. If you don’t follow my LFG guidelines – bye bye.

Might I ask why?
It’s your own fault if you deliberately choose to avoid partying up with reputable players, instead deciding to slosh through the waste that is PuGs.

Also an hour and a half is an ungodly long time just to get to Dredge, that’s Swamp + at worst Cliffside.
Is this the part where you confess to being a PVT Bearbow Ranger? Jokes aside it does seem like a systematic 3/5 party clear out by the same two players.

As mentioned above, don’t PuG fractals. In fact as a rule of thumb it’s best not to PuG anything that you’re not comfortable soloing. But if you’re so into self inflicted pain then at least be the instance opener :]

Oh and don’t expect ArenaNet to do anything about this, the vote kick and instance owner problems have been around since launch.

How can you even know the two people are from the same guild until you enter the dungeon? It happens like once each 100 that the other people are in your same server…one should leave asap I guess…which will be like a “kick in the face” for people who are just aiming to fill a team, maybe two friends who have no bad intention (Like it happens with me and my friend)
I find such situation sickening though. Never happened to me, rare or not, it sucks. I find it shameful how the best thing one can do is “Always start the dungeon yourself”…hope at some point every person in game will claim to start instance and no team will even possibly fill again, we’ll just see like 30000000 1-person-teams “Lvl xx/Px already inside”. Maybe then something will actually be done.

Enter the party, and if you see two people from the same guild, leave.

Yes, most of the time nothing bad will happen if you stay. But getting kicked at the last boss is so terrible an experience that it’s best not to take the risk in the first place.

Of course this is a terrible solution. But it’s the only solution available. Anet won’t do anything about it. And their in-game mods/devs/GMs/whatever are more interested in banning people for being AFK in Lions Arch.

Dear god… that is awful.

I’ve been griefed a LOT on this game too, but what you’ve endured honestly would be the tip of the iceberg for me. I wouldn’t do FotM anymore.

If you play on EU and get into our group (we sometimes have to pug the last spot) with 3 to 4 people from the same guild I can guarantee that we don’t kick UNLESS you bring not enough AR or just go Leeroy every time … but then we are able to use the party chat and clear things up before we even start the 2nd fractal.

If that person does not respond to us in chat and continuously kittens it up for all I see no reason not to kick .. but then we we’re lucky so far and always got decent Pugs, especially on the higher levels and some of them were the most fun runs I had.

But then again, you might leave us before we can start .. just because we are in the same guild.
