So, it used to be that at 50 dif, you got a chance at a ring and a chest, for the ring at least it was very likelly you would get one.

Now i dont get the gold, i get this boxes that cost more to open than they are worth and i have not seen a ring or asc box drop yet.

Am i missing something? what is the key to unlocking the fractals now? how do you make them worth it?.

You dont, fractals have been butchered, have become a gold sink, with horrible Gold skins, bosses that tickle you with insane amounts of HP. Get the backpiece and anything related to the legendary and then go do something else. RIP fractals

Time to put that gold to use from all dat sw cf

been what, 10 days since release? have probably had 60-75 mist champion (or whatever they were called for the 51+ dailies) earned in my guild in that time. as far as I know, no one has seen an ascended chest. Prior to the patch, there was about a 12% chance of armor and 4% chance of a weapon. I know 60 isnt a huge sample size by any means, but, even if the chests were nerfed by 25% ( to compensate for 3 instances instead of 4), I would still have expected to see a half dozen chests, 1 or 2 at the very least if we were really unlucky.

I do enjoy running fractals for the sake of the content, but one of the primary reasons I did them regularly was for the ascended chests. Once I get the legendary backpiece and the silver fractal skins from the vender, I dont really see a reason to continue in doing them.

They said they wanted to make fractals their primary 5 man endgame content, and thats great. I didnt expect a reward nerf, particularly after they talked about moving liquid gold from dungeons to fractals, which hasnt happened either. A reward adjustment based on number of instances per daily reward chest I can understand, but it has seemingly gone much farther than that.

Time to buy my skin.

Ive gotten 1 armor chest, and maybe 10 rings, just doing dailies, since the update. Which, while small sample size, is comparable to what I used to get.

When comparing these, 4 fractals runs today would equal 1 fractal from before HoT, so if u get 1 ring in 8 runs, Id say that isn’t too bad.

Dont know what you’re crying about. I had 3-4 guildies all get ascended armor/weapon chests the first 3-4 days after patch. And the rings are still dropping. Maybe you have bad RNG.
Remember, this is RNG like everything else in GW2. Don’t ever go into fract’s expecting a ascended chest every few times. Heck, i’ve gone weeks before without a single armor/weapon chest drop. It happens. It sucks. deal with it. if you want to cry about it being a gold sink, keep on doing so, but last I checked, most of the Pre-HoT farmers already had 70+ AR anyway, that’s enough for FoTM 55 nowadays. still able to do daily 51+. Doing any higher is on you if you want to spend the Gold to upgrade agony, of which doesn’t really TAKE MUCH GOLD because it’s relics for +5 into +7 anyway, which boosts AR up by 28 without using up gold.
