Frustration with dungeons
If they want 80’s it might be because the dungeon actually requires level 80.
The only time ive seen class requirements is CoF Path1. If its fractals asking for guardian, they might be on “Lava Shaman” and they are themselves newbies, looking for someone experinced to guide them, joining as a casual will just have them fail. Remember, theres a reason that 1 spot opened, someone else left. They arent doing it to be rude, they literally NEED that or they will not suceed. If they were all great <insert class> then they wouldnt need that type.
5 mins runs Im guessing are speedruns in general, and thats a whole new can of worms, but most groups do not restrict by class. Example: TA U/U Speedrun. it just means skip the mobs that get most teams wiped. I have never been gear checked in a speedrun besides cof p1 war’s.
If you know the encounters for the dungeon you’re doing, why don’t you be part of the solution to your own problem.
LFM (blank) Dungeon – Full Clear/Teaching Newbies; Bring 1 of every weapon
Post it on gw2lfg.com and teach people how to run dungeons rather than gripe that nobody wants to carry you. Nearly all the dungeon encounters are doable at the level you can start them, provided you know the mechanics and how to handle them.
I did get a party for AC explorable with my level 36 Mesmer pretty fast last week. I haven’t tried any more times, but it’s not that bad as long as you state that you are a lower level looking for a party I guess.
What Milennin said, state that you’re not 80 if you want to be sure to find a nice group. It shouldn’t be the case, but it’ll give you more chance to find the right party.
Sounds like you’re just being lazy. You want some 80s with a premade team to carry you.
Start your own party on LFG and just say “Under 80s and newer people welcome”
I’m somewhat perplexed. You say “we should be able to pug” as if you cannot. You certainly can. What you cannot do, however, is pug and expect a controlled outcome. If you want certain results you should use organized groups. Not sure what the issue is here.
Why not just form a party of sub 80s and new players? Instead of asking those 80s to “have to” play with you.
Start an AC group. “anyone, any level welcome”. If you think those level80 players shouldn’t discriminate against you, maybe you shouldn’t discriminate other people same as you.

Funny how everyone just immediately go “QQ moar” and “you just want to be carried noob” and just skip the part about me having 6 other 80s and how it’s because constantly running dungeons is what burned me out in the first place. I dont need to be carried thank you for assuming that. I do however want to play with my new toon. /shrug
No where did i say i discriminate against lowbies. Here is the problem (which seems people mistakenly assume even when I’ve just stated it in writing), people seem to assume you’re noob when you run with a lowbie in lfg and don’t want to associate with you, instantly jumping to conclusions (and what’s wrong with being a noob anyway?). I know how to lfg. thank you for assuming i don’t. yes, i know gw2lfg. thanks. Yes i state state that i’m a lowbie on there. thanks again. No i don’t say I have other 80s, because it shouldn’t matter. but that’s not the problem.
the dungeons atm are not casual friendly for a game that boasts that it caters to this crowd. and the community certainly isn’t forgiving or helpful about it. /rant
ya I dont’ think the dungeon is casual/newbie friendly. At least AC isn’t.
I’m not saying you are a noob. I’m saying AC is hard enough that a high percent of level80 pug actually have problem with them. So if a fraction of level80 pug are having problem, I’m sure a even higher fraction of sub level80 players have even more problem.
Now, it is not actually hard to form a group of low level ac group. You just go to lfg and form a no restriction group and I’m sure people will join. But it does up your chance that the pug will fail. Which is why I say if you don’t want other people to discriminate against you, dont’ discriminate other people similar to you. It is actually not hard to form a no restriction AC group.
It is sad. I remember when I first did AC explorer like a few couple after launch. The group patiently taught me how to do everything and went out of the way to rez me when I died in an inconvenient place while skipping mobs. I was like lvl 67 or something as well. A couple of months later those type of pugs have pretty much become extinct.
All I can say is that the problem lies within those people. And those people are not the ones you want to run a dungeon with anyway. These people will probably be those ones that will make a run horrible enough to make most people quit the game (ok maybe there is a bit of exaggeration but still).
I agree it is sad that we have to rely on our friends and guilds to get a decent party, but I just don’t see what there is to be done about it. Horrible players (in terms of attitude) will always exist.
^ that is the reality right? I’d be patient the first few times I do a dungeon.
Now dungeon only become a gold farm for many people. And it is hard for me to be patient if I run a dungeon say 1000+ times. And I actually ran cof 1000+ times.
The funny part is people were resistant about anet incorporating lfg into the game because “it might ruin the social aspect” of dungeoning. hah.
What I do now instead is just run around and do random stuff in tyria with my 6 yr old niece. None of the pseudo-leet attitude and discrimination with kids.

Well, it is an MMORPG after all. And having a guild is one of the best aspects, gamewise and friendwise.
I do understand that people get frustrated when attempting to do dungeons and not being allowed in a group because of arbitrary level restrictions.
I do not understand, however, why you don’t just find a guild that caters to your needs. Especially since you can be in multiple guilds in GW2.
Cheers.
This upcoming weekend, I really hope this elitism gets exposed and people get turned off by it. Maybe then people will realize how awful it is. It really is sad.
Uhmm… why would it be exposed this weekend if it hasnt been in 9 months?
Btw, they redid AC so its much harder. Even unexperienced lvl 80 groups struggle in there now. CM is no walk in the park. Path 2 I hated when I ran it just recently as a lvl 80 geared out toon. I dunno what other dungeons you wanted to do as a lowbie but choices dont seem that great right now.
Before the AC got reworked I would take a non-80 in group and just ignore it. Yes it did make the run slower and usually they died a lot. But it wasn’t that bad. For anything else I never wanted a lvl 80 in group. Its not elitism or wanted a 5 minute run. Its just the groups weren’t very good with non-80’s in them. I have my DM title and have run tons of dungeons. Have always tried to be unbiased and open minded. But if I had to run Sorrows Embrace I wouldn’t want to do it with any non-80’s. Sorry…
And I actually ran cof 1000+ times.
this would make me never play the game again….. dont care if thats what I had to do for a legendary… I’d end up hating the game by the time I got it.
