GW2 Dungeons: What do you think of them?
Some mobs have too much hp, like the initial mobs in the explorable mode. They are not a problem but they take longer than necessary.
The mobs in the hallway? I’ve never seen them live for more than 6 or 7 seconds… The only one with stupid amounts of health is the Goliath.
Ok, I’ll bite.. My likes and dislikes:
AC: Okay, new mechanics in p1 and p3 are okay. Screw the p2 boss. I like how they reduced the HP on the bosses though.
CM: Okay. P2 keg part: red circles could have been made a little bit bigger, because right now it’s pretty darn annoying.
TA: one of my favorite dungeons. Dunno why, maybe because it’s so easy.. Most people complain about the blossoms and the KD’s but I don’t mind it that much. Leurent is a joke now though.
SE: bleh. F**k dredge.
HotW: Screw everything about this dungeon. It’s all a bunch of HP sponges with no mechanics.
CoF: Too easy. Don’t like it because it’s so mindnumbingly easy/boring. CoF can suck a big fat **** in my opinion.
CoE: Okay. It’s pretty easy, and it gives good money. Screw that champ wolf and Agent Spire’s AI though. Either remove the wolf, or improve the AI. Luckily we found a way to get spire to run straight to the end of the hall 80-90% of the time, but having her run around like some special ed kid on speed isn’t really fun.
Arah: Love it. Challenging, fun. Rewards suck though. “Hey, let’s not give the hardest dungeon in the game any lodestones or worthwhile drops, that way EVERYONE will love it.” Screw you Anet.
“People wanting content where Berserker sucks should remember that it needs be so hard
that they will cry, not just a river, but a huge ocean.” – Wethospu
Favorite:
The Ruined City of Arah
Why:
I love the design of the dungeon, and by that I mean how it looks. I run the game on
75-100fps with everything on ultra and let me tell you that dungeon looks gorgeous. I also love Lupicus, by far the best fight in the game.
What I don’t like:
Pretty much everything else. Large HP pools for dungeon type monsters, monsters that respawn at ridiculous rates, spiders, spiders, spiders, spiders……… And Dwayna. I promise, Im sure someone at Anet is a full zerker warrior lover, because Dwayna cannot be taken down by certain groups.
Favorite: The Ruined City of Arah
The only dungeon that requires a lot teamwork and isn’t purely easy mode, where a lot of people going for DM will probably fail.. due to how challenging it is in comparison to the other dungeons. Fractals a close 2nd due to its difficulty, but overall a repetitive and grindy experience.
Worst: CoF, so simple a child could do it.. used to farm it a while back but realized what a kittened idea it was and how boring it got. The dungeon could be done by a small child (yeah probably the majority of the player base but whatever) and poses absolutely no challenge. Didn’t P3 even get a nerf?
Favourites:
Arah/Volcanic fractal: having the only exciting boss fights. Also because Lupicus is gigantic, as how I expect bosses should be.
CM: outdoor/manor setting, the atmosphere doesn’t feel as bleak and heavy as others
Swamp fractal: same reason as CM – refreshing rainforest. I like listening to the cricket sound as well as the piano/violin piece that often plays in the background.
Least favorite:
Underwater fractal: underwater combat is boring and the jellyfish boss fight makes me feel sleepy.
Besides all the dungeons and dungeoneers being Ranger-unfriendly and that no one want to do story mode because it’s significantly harder/tedious/longer/less rewarding than Exploitable Explorable Mode or 100%-ing the map the dungeon is in? What I really think of each dungeon:
1 – AC. I refuse to do path 2 unless it’s with guildies and I’m a guardian dedicated to mitigating the boss’ projectiles. Paths 1 and 3 I don’t mind pugging it; still easy.
2. CM. Easy to pug, as long as someone has some form of projectile mitigation, otherwise the team will get shredded from afar.
3. TA. I could do this dungeon in my sleep. The hounds at the very beginning are a good indication in how the team you’re in will work throughout the dungeon. If the dogs go down quick and easy with minimum downed perosns, great. If we wipe, may as well get ready for an expensive repair bill.
4. SE. I forgot this dungeon existed, it’s been so long since I’ve been in it.
5. CoF. Never done it before, and those who wanna farm it make sure it stays that way unless I roll a warrior or buy my mesmer zerker gear and learn every inch of path 1 via youtube.
6. HotW. Whoever made the bosses for paths 2 and 3 must have a special hatred for players. Path 1 is quite easy.
7. CoE. Haven’t played it because no one wants to do it. No wonder charged lodgestones are so expensive.
8. Arah. Fun until any team I’m in encounters Lupi, then it goes to hell from there.
9. FotM. The only dungeon worth doing, and which happens to contain the most competent pugs, as far as I know.

Ascalonian Catacombs
Why:
This is where I learned how to fight properly. Storymode was the place where I trained myself and later my guild to fight and use all the skills at our disposal. Explorable on the other hand broke our teeths the first time we ran it. Now we can do it properly with no problems. I absolutely love the Kholer fight, although I preferred him as he was before (no adds, stronger boss). I have fond memories of soling him on every run I did.
What I don’t like:
Personally, I don’t think the spider queen is set up properly. That door should not open unless she is dead. Also her damage is a bit over the top. The spiders there were used to rally before, now its not useful for that. I dont mind their increased HP but geez they are a burden now. I hate the new stacking mentality as well. Yeah its easier and more efficient, but I don’t run dungeons just for loot. Not that I blame anyone doing it though. Path 2… HATE this boss mechanic; while others love it, it glitches on me a lot. Path 3 has serious bugs where utility skills cannot be used on medium armor classes, as well as path 1 where the party needs to protect the npc, theres a door you can go thru if bounced by a graveling.
