Guild Wars 2

This past weekend while looking for a dungeon PUG, I noticed a few posts on gw2lfg advertising item / gold giveaways. Posts that said something about being done with the game, giving away gold or items and for interested parties to send the poster a mail to get free stuff…. or different versions of that.

Who thinks these were legit… or some kind of scam? Any potential benefit gained by the poster from gathering all those character names / account id’s? Would love to think there’s just nice people out there who wanted to give back to the community the cynic in me thinks “ok, what’s the angle here?”

probably posted by someone other than the account owner in order to grief that person by having them constantly whispered, emailed, and invited to parties

I’m probably the one who started that. Anet stated in german forum that such a running service is legit, advertising it isn’t though on forums (for whatever reason).
Idea was to fill up my last spots since i usually solo/duo AC and Arah instead of pugging because its faster. Noone is forced to use this service and whoever does believe it is a scam should simply not try out.

Back on topic, I’d say definitely scams. Either somebody griefing another’s account, or griefing you. I’ve seen bored people in LA say “I’m quitting, what to do with all my gold, PM me if you want some” then 5 minutes later “OMG I can believe all yo upeople PMed me, hahaha, I’m not quitting”

Some people have weird ways to entertain themselves.

Mis-read. Thought its about advertising spots for money because this is the dungeon forum…

I went with griefing. Maybe I’m out 5 gold, but I’m not part of the 1000’s of mails those folks have to delete.

most cases are just griefing. i got trolled once a few days ago, my friend got trolled twice. trolled person is getting metric kitten ton of whispers, you literally forced to go invis
