With the upcoming third raid wing we’ve decided to also address something we’ve felt raids were missing; a form of progression.

But to remain true to our no gear grind philosophy, we’ve decided not to add another tier of gear. Instead we will be adding agony to spirit vale and all future raids!
Our reasoning behind this decision is that raids are the true endgame content, and should be the stage of progression following fractals. Once players exhaust the progression found in fractals it will continue where it left off in raids.

The first boss in a raid wing will now require 150 agony resistance. Once defeated you will gain access to a merchant which will now have higher grade infusions which you can purchase with magnetite shards, which you will need for the later bosses in a wing, the second requiring 165, third requiring 180, and 4th boss, which the final wing in spirit vale will have, requiring 200.

This is fake, it was also stated during a guild chat that agony resistance was a mechanic unique to fractals and they had no intention to use it anywhere else, raid included.

Sounds very Fake. Do you have a Link for it?

I’m not sure where this was posted on Reddit, but anyone can claim something is written by an ANet employee. Always make sure to check for the ANet flair on Reddit or a reference to one such post on an official ANet communication channel before buying into anything that people claim is said by ANet.

What I find to be most curious is that there is no denial that such a mechanic will be involved with the final raid wing. Those that have beaten the second wing should know who we MAY be fighting in the final wing, and as such infusion might be necessary.

My theory is that, yes it will be used, but not more than current Fractals. Why else would Crystal have said months ago that the final wing is recommended to have Ascended?

Notice how the post mentions the fourth wing “final boss” , which we already know won’t be happening.

Besides, Agony in GW2 is different from that kind of Agony you are thinking of. It even has a specific name to it.

That should’ve been a huge clue towards it not being an official statement, as the raids name is Forsaken Thicket, and iirc Crystal mentioned that Ascended gear would be recommended – but not required.

In the context of the reddit thread where it was posted this was very obviously a joke.
