Guide Of The Good Dungeoneer

Hey there!Are you tired of being kicked out of parties?You always end up dead and just cant understand what you’re doing wrong?Well,don’t get discouraged,this is the guide for you.After watching so many people failing and quiting i decided i should do what i can.So I’m here to offer you some tips and talk about general dungeon practices.

Note: This is a very basic general guide,i wont be covering movement or explain skill use>It is Meant for very new players.I’ll cover the these in another guide when i can find the time.

You just hit 80 and after strolling through the main story are eager to go kick some dungeon kitten .No mate,not so fast.Are you properly prepared for everything that comes at you?Of course not or you wouldn’t be here.So,enough with the intros,lets get on with it.

Build Up
First things first you’ll need a proper build for running dungeons.The current meta favors berserker builds above all,so it would be wise to choose one.We’ll talk about that a little more later on.For up to date builds you can look at the end of this guide.

Gear Up
If you’re just starting you’re probably low on gold too.The best way to obtain proper gear except from dungeons is to play some WvW and exchange some badges of honour at the weapon and armor vendors there.You can also ask a friend or a guildie for help.No Lions Arch begging:P

Damage&Defense Boost
Now that you’ve got yourserf some armor and weapons are you ready?Ofcourse you’re not mate.You wouldn’t say no to up to 10% more damage and 10% defense against certain enemies right?Well for that you need the correct type of potion for each type of enemy.These are craftable as an artificer,or you can buy them straight through the trading post.Below you’ll find a basic list and likns of potions,food you can use and the right dungeon to use it.If You’re low on money you can buy a lower tier of the same potion e.g. Potent potion of Inquest Slaying instead of Powerful potion.

Almost There
You’re one..or two steps from entering the dungeon now.Take one last look at your inventory and make sure you have enough space.Most people unfortunately don’t have the patience to wait till you salvage or go sell your loot.So,don’t be that guy everyone waits.Take some salvage kits with you and make sure you have space.If not go by some inventory bags.Take a look at the wiki here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bag .
Now,most probably you don’t have an organized group for dungeons or all your friends are offline.You have to use the LFG tool.The first thing to do after selecting a dungeon from the LFG is read the description.I cant stretch that enough.Most people that get kicked from dungeons don’t bother to read.Most party descriptions state that the party needs certain gear types,builds and levels of experience.This is mostly for fast dungeon runs though.Note that a lot of people even if they want someone experienced wont have a problem with an inexperienced player to join them.There are also people that will guide you if you don’t know a dungeon.All you have to do is ask.Guild Wars 2 community is the friendliest I’ve ever seen in MMOs and trust on this.If you don’t like playing with the specified gear,builds or classes you can find a party that for example says that everyone is welcome.You can even advertise your own party with your own demands.So no need for frustration.Keep it simple.If the description is very vague or is empty,get in the party,introduce your self and ask about the party specifics.There no shame.

In the dungeon
Communication is key to success.If one player decides to go ranged at the boss,the other two melee one is afk and the other one is lost in the dungeon you wont even get past the first boss.You’ll end up quiting dungeons over and over again.So talk people,communicate.If you don’t know something ask someine.The goal is to have fun and ofcourse lootXD.
Last tip now.DODGE DODGE DODGE.Especially during boss fights you will see red circles.Deadly red circles as I may say.As soon as they appear count quickly to 3 and dodge.Trust me it can make a world of difference.If you have the boss cornered dodge inside the corner,if you dodge outside you may end up wiping the whole party.I’ll be posting soon a short youtube video guide on dodging so patience or you can go trial and error.
