Giganticus Lupicus Speed Kill in 61 Seconds
that’s insanely amazing. I can definitely see you guys do it under a minute. The warriors should be able to squeeze a couple more 100b’s or ww’s in there.
You’d have been kicken in phase 1 anyway without aegis, the dodge was too late. Also very few 100b’s, using it more you could increase your damage output by over 30%. Also the team should try to not dodge grubs when he aims on someone else.
kitten good job @ obal, i see about nothing that could be done better.
Yup, it’s just kind of difficult to go beyond the mental barrier that keeps you on the defensive (despite knowing what to do, I still felt tense and keeping off things like whirlwind as a potential defense). This is the second time we’re doing something like this, and the recorded run was our first try today (and last for the day obviously, we were happy with the result and have all the time in the world to try again to beat our own record).
My guardian’s name is “Skullcrusher” if you’ve ever wondered who snagged that name :p.
Anyways, first of all: nice aegis and reflects. Second of all: nice reflects. Third: nice aegis. How much might you guys stacking? I couldn’t tell on my phone.
Finally: that was a pleasure to watch.

Looks like we’ve got something to compete with now.

Gratz. They said GW2 didn’t have a holy trinity but for some reason we keep seeing warrior, guardian and mesmer parties. Crazy.

Reflection and aegis…warriors are somewhat replaceable (sorry guys, the mesmer did most of the damage). The guardian and mesmer bring aegis and reflection, without which this would not have worked. Notice the feedback bubble on lupi during aoe in phase 2.

*Oh, sorry, by ‘somewhat’ I meant take, say, one thief, and finish in, say, 65 seconds. It’s not world record but that’s all I was trying to say.
The mesmer and guardian likely end up doing more damage than the 3 warriors through their reflects and autos, right? The mesmer reflect bubble alone will probably do more damage than any single warrior did in the whole fight. If it doesn’t, I’m sure it’s close. Watch Lupi’s health bar melt when he AoE’s under that bubble. That’s not the warriors doing the damage there.
So what you can’t replace is the mesmer’s bubble (which must be precisely timed on lupi’s phase 2 bouncing bolt AoE which will damage for well over 100,000 in a single instant). Also, almost as important, is the aegis from the guardian which allows everyone to DPS rather than dodge roll.
These are my thoughts based on this video alone. For more information, ask Obal for he was actually there.

I wasn’t trying anything. I was just extrapolating based on what I saw. To me, I didn’t even think they had to dodge roll once but I watched on a tiny cell phone screen. Still, do you think 65 or 70 s is a bad estimate for thief, warrior, warrior, guardian, mesmer? And I’m still wondering how much might they stacked? I couldn’t see it was too small.
I always wondered what the fixation on such runs are. I mean, it’s not particularly hard but I guess fewer seconds is sumthin
did not watch yet, but the massive zone poison of P3 can be reflected back for tons of damage if ever he gets to launch it ^^

Why not? I think it’s kind of cool. It definately shows what abilities are OP. I always thought it was lame that defiant is so strong when a mesmer can do…that…to a boss. But the feedback is a little harder to do than stun lock a boss. Bjarl the Rampager is one of the few bosses in the game where stun locking is effective but every boss with huge aoe gets pwned by mesmers. In a way, the warrior and guardian ability to tank aggro is a passive stun lock. If anet wants to bring rangers, ele’s, and thiefs up to this level, it seems they need to nerf reflection/aegis or nerf defiant. Again, just my opinion not trying to start a war here.
OMM! > Frenzy, unless Lupicus has unusual resist for Vulnerability.
10% more damage for ~6 s every 30 s. That’s 2% more damage (group-wide). With just 3 Warriors that already beats Frenzy.
Frenzy 3 extra seconds every 60 seconds -> 5% more damage (single-target).

amazing. just amazing
Wow good job guys-well played
And this proves my theory that 3 wars 1 mes 1 guard is the best dungeon group possible
and that bringing anything else is a waste of everyone’s time.

Nah, 90% of that is just the product of good play. Only—literally—a handful of groups can do what they did there. It looks easy but that’s only because their timing and positioning was darn near perfect. Out of thousands of PUGs, most would wipe trying this.
Not that experience in arah. How do you know who lupi is targetting for grab skill?

He targets whoever is highest on his threat level. You don’t have a good way of knowing who this is and you only find out after he casts it (green cloud appears on someone). Good players dodge the grub by dodging when he raises his hand above his head, which will trigger an “evaded!” message.

They’re not a pug.

I don’t get your point? I think you misread my message so I’ll say it again: most people can’t do this so for them it doesn’t really matter what profession they play. Whereas the person I responded to was trying to imply that only warrior/mez/guard should be used. I, for one, like running alts in dungeons to level and gear them and I dislike people saying I can’t take my thief, ranger, or ele. I hope that helps you get where I’m coming from.
Anyways ty for the insight folks, again, GJ obal! Gz!

Yes I often get the evade message but I dodge every time he raises his hand. So I really don’t understand how to “Also the team should try to not dodge grubs when he aims on someone else.”
Holy kittening kitten, well done.
So I really don’t understand how to “Also the team should try to not dodge grubs when he aims on someone else.”
He looks at whoever he’s gonna grub next. So if you spread out around him, you can tell who’s the poor guy with 100% accuracy.

I see. but most team stacks. I guess I’ll just dodge whenever he raises hand.

Spreading is more efficient. Get your team to do it.

You telling me I could’ve foreseen the future and should’ve changed my playstyle on that basis?
At least to not dodge when it has been too late anyway. How is it future though when he clearly aims 1 person with grub spawn or when you have a little aegis symbol in buff tray?
Nice kill, grats!

If I’m not mistaken, you still can dodge the grub some seconds after debuff starts blinking. I’m pretty sure I did that before but I haven’t try it lately so I can tell there is a change to it.
@Nikaido,
no offense to you, was just pointing out some mistakes that could’ve been done better.
One big thing would be based on lupicus himself, but in phase 3 you can reflect the barrage thing he does, chunking a good bit of his hp. If he had used that attack rather than the bubble or the life drain you probably would have shaved off another 5+ seconds.

I’d say on average the guardian and mesmer had 12 and the warriors had 20.

They are fairly new at meleeing lupi and we haven’t been playing together for very long so I could see things like this that we will eventually work out. This was our first try at a speed kill and we managed to break the record so it is pretty impressive I would think. What you said was right but most people are normal and get a little tense in situations like this. It takes a whole different kind of crazy like you or me to keep a cool head and do everything perfectly. Hopefully we will practice some more and they will get more comfortable with it.
I could have used retreat at phase 3 to give a slight increase in the warriors dps is what I could have done better but I was too focused on watching for a bubble to hit us or use wall for the aoe which unfortunately never came at phase 3 while feedback was on cooldown.
Good job, gz on the record!

I was waiting and waiting for this so I can put up my wall and watch the numbers fly but he got lazy

Wouldn’t have changed much since his projectiles remove aegis in melee :P

Yeah I noticed the very sort of halfhearted ontop of lupi wall before he died.
Im sure you’ve also figured this one out. But in my experience lupi always makes the “toughest” character his bubble target. As in, the guy with the most toughness. In my parties that’s usually a guardian. But I dont know what gear ya’ll are running. Still you can essentially force him to always bubble whoever you want by changing the gear/builds a little. Not sure if that’d speed up anything, but it might make that last phase a little less stressful.
Lupicus only uses bubble on either moving or downed targets. I barely even get one bubble when soloing him. The rapidfire is based on distance, when you are his target and stand too close, he won’t use it. Therefore the best way would be to step back a little, hope he doesn’t bubble you and then wait for the rapidfire, standing still.
Looks like warriors need another buff, they can’t even kill lupi in under a minute….
I’m pretty sure you could do one or two seconds faster by not dodging during phase 1 and planting banners closer :P

Your warrior needs to save his hb for when GL isnt invuln.
Looks like warriors need another buff, they can’t even kill lupi in under a minute….
Hopefully we can get our group together tomorrow and correct that. We got exactly 1 minute today with a down and me running around for 10s since I thought we were resetting. The RNG gods were not in our favor today, but we have adjusted our builds/gear/food and made a lot of improvement in gameplay. We kept getting him to phase 3 in 30s but he jumped up in the air right after about 90% of the time. We have ditched our sigil stacking as well.
What can be both an asset and a crutch when you’re doing a normal run is a liability, playstyle wise, when you finally get an optimized team for these runs.
This is a core truth about optimized (read: efficient) dungeon running that is not yet fully understood among the general community. I wish so hard that more people understood this, because it’s so frustrating to try to have conversations about group and build optimization and have people jump in with “well my full Cleric’s guardian never dies so therefore I’m doing something right”.
Also, try not to take it personally when people nitpick every action you guys take in a GL speed kill video. People aren’t telling you you’re an idiot or a bad player because you dodged when you weren’t the grub target, or you wasted a dodge when you could have used whirlwind. GL speedkills are a game of seconds (46 seconds now!), and perfecting every second counts. So take those suggestions as constructive criticism and use them to improve.
Great job at 61 seconds, now get out there and break that 60s barrier like DnT just did.!
Well you know, keep at it.

49.5 seconds. We didn’t beat dnt’s record but we are getting more consistently clean rotations and runs without changing our group set up.
Nice! I see GL spent a significant amount of time in phase 1 with fewer than 20 stacks of vuln, would it possibly give a better return to drop banner of Tactics for another On My Mark?
