So I’m down the wire on my legendary, the dreaded charged lodestones. I’m wondering if anyone has tried a few different ways and found one way to work better than another.

Options of course are core and stone drops from CoE
Farming sparks in Orr
or farming gold by other means.

I have a few ways to consistently get 4-6g per hour, often more. That’s about 2 charged stones per hour. Is there any reason to go after CoE for drops or sparks in Orr? I guess I’m asking how often people see drops in CoE.

I ran my first CoE today, netted about 2.5g in 2 hours (granted I am a CoE noob) and no drops. In that amount of time doing other things I could have purchased 3-4 stones.

Thanks in advance to those who’ve already spent hours figuring out the best way to go about this

If you can speed clear CoE it is probably the best option because you have the chance of cores and you still get the silver drops like CoF. I rarely ever see lodestones though, cores are maybe an average of one per all 3 paths.

It really depends though, you can run 3 paths of CoE in about 30 minutes, compared to 4.5 paths of CoF. So you’re giving up less guaranteed gold an hour for a chance at cores/lodestones.

In terms of realistic farm in pugs though, CoF would be better since so many people run it and because it’s much simpler. CoE is only good if you run organized groups that know how to quickly do CoE.

Doesn’t 3 paths coe in 30mins mean using questionable tactics….3in1/2in1 etc?

Doing one path in ~20 minutes is possible even with a non specialized but experienced group

Before the change a couple months ago, you could easily to all 3 paths in under an hour and that was with a very good group. There is no way that this can be done without using glitches such as for the bot with turrets and to get into p1 from p2 or p3.

You’ll take at least 2 min clearing the two groups of trash mobs in the first hallway and about another 2 min getting the npc to the next room to choose your path. You can clear the first alpha in about a min with a high dps group. It’ll then take about a 1.5 min at least to stack up and defeat the 5 golems. You’ll have about 30 sec to coordinate shutdown of laser grid. It will then take 2-4 min to beat the golem depending on whether you glitched the turrets.

That’s 9 to 11 min at least just before the paths split under the assumption that you have the optimal group with everyone knowing their role exactly and no mistakes.

For Path 1, the security panel takes about 3 min if you do the 1-4 method which includes running to it and clearing the first wave of large golems. The second alpha will take about 2.5 min since you have to wait for the npc, choose option, and wait for him to be targetable. The next part can take from 3 to 10 min depending on your luck. I heard rocks/knockdowns help tremendously but I have yet to see a group pull it off. I assigned 3 min to the knockdown method assuming its possible to do that. The last alpha will take about 1.5 min due to travel and waiting for him to be targetable. This brings path 1 to 10 min or 19 total.

Path 2 will take about 3 min to defend laser. Add another 1.5 to clear stairs since you cannot lose aggro anymore. Add about 1.5 to kill the second Alpha and another 30 sec to skip all trash mobs to next boss. This will boss will take at least two min even though most groups take at least 5 but I’ll assume you’re just that lucky. The last alpha will take at least two min. This comes to 10.5 for path 2 portion and 19.5 total.

Path 3 will take 2 min to skip all mobs and get everyone to their laser. This boss will take 5 min. The last alpha will take 3 min. This paths comes to 11 min and 20 total.

I lowballed all of the guesstimates on time and I hardly think most of them are possible. I see all of the paths taking around 45 min on average. If you think it will take less then record your run from zone entrance to exit without edits.

I just added up all my video runs (including the opening section 3 times and adding about 20 seconds to each of them) and it came out to about 39 minutes.

45 min. on average is a fair estimate for all 3 paths… that is if you don’t use the 3 in 1 method.

Your timeline is way off for the opening section though. You only need to kill the 2 groups, it takes ~2 minutes from entering the dungeon and activating the first cutscene, to the path vote.

Also my videos from the path vote through the golem turret boss (using no bugs) only totals 3:58. If you’re taking 1 minute to kill the first alpha fight and 2-4 minutes to beat the golem you’re not in a high dps group.

As far as Bjarl goes, doing it legit we usually get him down in around 2 min (1:45 in my video). Using the endless knockdown method with consumables it takes less the 1:30.

So not only are most of your guesstimates possible, they are much faster in a real speed run group. No need to guesstimate, there’s been videos up for a while in the sticky in this forum.

the two best gold farming methods I’ve found are T6 material farming in Orr (see orrmaps.com) which can be done on 2 characters in about an hour and net a little under 5g (but VERY boring to do IMO) or CoF farming with a zerker group. I prefer CoF farming, and don’t forget to buy cheap armor with your dungeon tokens (30 tokens per piece) and salvage for ecto’s…

although I’ve heard they’re going to buff CoF to make the 6-7min p1 farm more difficult, so that option may disappear (or at least radically change) in the future.

There are certain ways to do all 3 paths of CoE in the same instance, basically negating the shared section from the opening path up through the golem event giving you the ability to do all 3 paths in 30 min instead of 45 min.

I’m not going to discuss the details or how to do it, but I’m sure you could join one of the lfg groups if you really wanted.

Only cause Anet keeps bandage fixing things. It was the same for arah, it took them well over 2-3 months to realize that putting invisible walls isnt going to fix anything.

Not for CoE. Probably because for CoE you do the same thing for all 3 paths up to the golem boss, so whatever flags they put in place are still activated allowing you to do the 3 paths from that point as long as you can get into said path to start the next event.

They didn’t even fix the easy methods for CoE “3 in 1” until the Feb. 26th patch.
