Hello.
I’ve been running HOTW explorable for the past few days with PUGs,attempting to get the full armor set. One thing that really bothers me, out of all 3 paths, is this guy.

In path 1, there is a mage boss, after the mini-troll boss. He sits on the stairs. In front of him are six glowing ice patches. Above him are balconies.

So my issue is…what are his mechanics?
Sometimes he summons adds.
Sometimes he doesn’t.
Sometimes he summons adds nonstop.

Are you suppose to fight him on the ground? On the stairs? On the balcony above him? Why do the adds spawn? Why do they not spawn? How do you prevent them? Does it involve the ice patches?

I’ve killed this guy a bunch so far, and each time it fills either not working correctly..or missing something.

How are you “suppose” to fight him?

My party just did this boss for the first time, and we had it summon adds every now and then. The main thing we noticed was that if you go a certain distance – say out of the boss room – they disappear. We had melee people on the ground and run in and hit him and run out if adds spawned. Ranged were on the top and backed up nearest to the entrance and they would usually disappear.

We have no clue how this boss is supposed to be done. >_>

Yeah, same. We had everyone just run up to the balcony. This usually stopped adds from spawning, but if they did, we just ran around on the top level as they weren’t too hard to kite. Sorta reminded me of that scene from Jurassic Park where the two kids are crawling all over the kitchen trying to hide from raptors.

Weird comparison, I know, but we really don’t bother DPSing the adds since they keep flickering in and out of existence.
