Hardest class to find that is sought after?
A decent mesmer
Mesmers. There are a lot of them but majority has no idea what to do.
Are you looking for a condi mesmer or chronotank?
Finding a pug mesmer that can portal and distort is a bliss. Happens sometimes but rarely.
Are you looking for a condi mesmer or chronotank?
Chronotank first and foremost, decent support mesmer gets the second most demanded spot.
Though if you have to ask if condi or chronotank, you are shockingly out of sync with the raid meta.
Always Chronotanks and non-fail dr00ds…
But this patch it’s been CPS’s, since most of them are too cheap to restat/rune their gear for this little 1 month meta we’re in pre-PoF launch.
Mesmer has always been the hardest class to master in the game.
In dungeons the amount of unpublished tricks that a mesmer was assumed to know were pretty wide.
Where the portal spots where. How to properly sync illusionary wardens to eliminate gaps on reflects.
With the intro of chrono that responsibility only got larger. You now have to run one of the more fairly complex decision trees with continuum split for quickness and alacrity uptimes, while at the same time positioning bosses and timing group distortion.
Only other class that remotely comes close to as much responsibility is a good druid knowing placement for heals and seed gotl buffs.
Playing a DPS slot is much easier than those two.
Mesmer tank is easy, but that may be because I have been playing it for a while. Will admit raids are a steep learning curve for a tank, but I don’t see what all the fuss is about. I suppose I can understand why people don’t like it as if you make a mistake, you can wipe the group, whereas the mindless classes (dps/cps) seem to get away with loads.
As an example, I raid with my guild twice a week, we are currently stuck on Deimos. As the tank, I have just today spent about 4.5 hours wiping, but I made one mistake in that whole time, its usually the DPS that screws the pooch on there, although they tend to not like hearing that its their fault. So, if you want to play chrono, you need a certain temperament.
What we as a guild tend to struggle to find is people who can multi-class, say a support (chrono/heal etc) and a dps role, that I think is much more important if you want to get into raid content than any one single class.

I love these statements. Nothing is hard once you are good at it. You even state yourself that all the other roles (mostly dps) get a free ride difficulty wise.
Mesmer is easy comapred to what? Playing Bethovens 5th blindfolded with 1 arm?

Deimos has to be the 1 fight where you can go brain-afk on mesmertank. Poor fight to pick as example.
Deimos requires exactly 3 people who know what they are doing:
- 1 chronotank who can press WoP every 30-40 seconds and dodge one of the most obvious boss attacks ingame
- 1 black kiter who can stand behind the boss and run up to the tank every 30-40 seconds
- 1 handkiter
Now stack your dps in the center and have them range pewpew if they are to stupid to deal with boss mechanics and occasionally pick up a tear. Done.
Decent chronomancers and druids by a wide margin.
Basically, the two builds people think they should play because good players such as themselves need to carry everyone else.
Definitely chrono. Back when I raided, I could never play anything but chrono since I had one that was geared and I played it well enough. However, I never found the profession particularly fun.
Nowadays, since I’m not in the same guild any longer, I try to pretend like I don’t have a chrono, lol.

LOL, same… Although I do kind of enjoy Chrono’ing Wing 2.

Seeing how I don’t have a slot left for a Mesmer, ya. I came here to find out what classes are in demand so I bring the most utility. I have no doubt I can competently fill the role.

Of course, but then anything is possible.
I was being slightly facetious, doesn’t come across in text that well I guess..

I would love it to be that easy for the DPS, but starting to really question my sanity..

You forgot about the description of the hand kiter; they need to be able to not fall asleep.
