I don’t think PHIW’s would come for such events. I’m talking about the ones that really doesn’t have a clue about the game mechanics, i see those events being with only semi-hardcore (people like me or savacli)/hardcore (rT/DnT…) oriented.

It lies in the “like minded people” thing, PHIW’s, let’s be honest, they don’t really like us/don’t care about us. They won’t come.

I may be wrong. But in this case, we can always set some rules about it (thought i don’t like the idea of these kind of things).

The gambits are tricky since not everyone will be streaming. It’s impossible to tell if someone is using first person or HUD.

For gambits like I mentioned you could require a video submitted from the same path/party, and you could compare to the original video to check for same tactics/occurrences during the run. Failure to submit a video would result in the time from the stream being accepted.

Also for teams that do no have a person capable of streaming, with 4man tournaments you could slot in a thief with SA and harpy feathers to stream the run from the edge of fights.

Anytime you’re dealing with pre-made teams you’re going to run into the issue of losing appeal to the more casual community, and it all has to do with perspective.

Having read through these pages I can see that even high-end premade teams are going to be set up with a significant disadvantage to even out the skill set; however, how can that be effectively conveyed to potential contestants? One good look at the roster, and quite a few teams may just walk away upon seeing particular guilds already signed up.

That’s the challenge really. To make this whole tournament thing take off you gotta be willing to start backwards: put together events that appeal to the less skilled community and slowly immerse them and build them up to where they feel confident competing with some of the more serious folks for more serious/demanding challenges. In other words, don’t lay it too thick from the get-go.

maybe you guys should survey people on reddit if they are interested in these events as they are more casual than the people in this subforum.

It begs the question on who are the targeted audience and what is the goal of this event? Is it to bring in more casuals? Is it to gather up the semi-hardcore dungeon community or is it a conglomerate of the current hardcore community and simply doing something fun for the elites?

Always looking for friends! Add me on EU or NA!

I hope it’s to create a fun competitive scene worth watching and participating in. Problem of course, how do you do that with all the varying skill levels and gameplay preferences?

Its the same problem with PvP. The Abjured (or TCG/oRng on EU) win everything so how do you get second or third or fourth tier teams to enter? They solve the problem with mini llamas. Win a round, get a llama. Top teams get byes so you are assured that your first round you aren’t paired against pros. This means if you’re a second or third tier team you have a decent shot at getting a llama. That little prize is enough to get people interested.

Ofcourse, I suggested the same thing is needed for PvE to Anet… and here we are.

11free agents signed up for eu pugquest.
8 free agents sign up for na pugquest.

Safe to say there is not alot of interest.
What does that have to do with this thread you ask? PvE Pugquest will probably get at best the same amount of interest as this pvp pugquest.

Edit: Okay with all the talks who is actually going to initiate the events?
