I really want to applaud whoever designed HoTW Exp. This is by far my favorite dungeon I’ve had more fun in than any other dungeon.

I just wanted to voice my praise for this dungeon. Although it was challenging at some points, it was never too hard to make any of my teams quit. I especially enjoyed the addition of underwater fights (though unfortunately some do not share my enthusiasm for underwater combat…)

Overall, HoTW was a very fun experience as I was going after my dungeon armor, and I wanted to give the designers kudos for it.

It’s fun. It’s also annoying. None of the fights are too difficult because the water alone entices plenty of rage.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

Yep, since my auto attack is 1200 range and ignores LoS, I literally place my guy in a corner and AFK until I notice the award screen.

i willlaugh so hard if they will balance classes….

I wait here for few classes that now complains dungeons are too easy XD that they will be too hard…..

Full tank exotic DD elementalist still oneshot by some bosses by un reactable attacks….

Hotw path 1 is quite fine….final boss is not…its easy and boring….and require a single strategy….

The point is, as long as some characters have heavy armor or larger HP pool i really can see why some of them find dungeons too easy….

You get hit, just kite and cure……
For other is
you get hit? downed and out of battle until downed penalty fades away

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Difference between heavy and light armor is so small that your Full tank Elementalist should be more beefier than my glass-cannon Warrior. And I don’t get one shot.
And if you get downed as ele then what? Just run away.

Found it boring tbh it was short and 90% of the fights were autoattack and go afk only fun fight in this game for me was giganticus

The point is warriors users (but also other class) just do not get that there is a different level of difficulty due to dungeons nt balanced for each class..

Elementalists are completely build and equip dependent.

You can feel the difference from a nightmare to a cakewalk simply changng a couple items…..
But most players didn t studied builds for hours on forums etc….

Warriors instead can just survive anything (PVE) because their base health is more than any elementalist can get with a vitality set.

I passed to crazy scared of dungeons to “i m almost immortal” in 2 days just changing equip……

Note that this is just an example…..
Hotw was a dungeon i was able to play even without full exotic gear…..and was yet quite challenging…

Now i am full exotic is ALMOST simple….(but i can see why is too simple for certain classes).

All this is related to dungeon balancing and not CLASS balancing…because AI and raw numbers have a huge importance.

I’m a Warrior and I don’t get immortal. Sure, I win if we compete who can longer afk against enemies. Warrior doesn’t have a real tank-spec (eles can bunker as far as I know).
I can do great damage but that’s pretty much it.

It’s dull as dishwater but that’s what new players need (b/c it also gives the most ideal “Survival” gear for other Dungeons instead of useless ‘Zerker’ gear like COF gives).

Too many players started off with AC & CM and then walked away from them with a horrible first impression. (and no Gear to show for it)

Right, but AC is buggy or employs mechanics that most players still don’t fully understand even after they’ve scraped their ways through it. The Collectors room in particular is completely unforgiving to anyone who doesn’t have High DPS Exotics.

It also has that Catch22 clause that HotW lacks: which is that you almost never die in AC if you already have all that Survivability Gear. But if you don’t have that gear, you’re guaranteed to die very very fast to some of those buggy mechanics that are always masked behind too much bloom and particle effects even when you know exactly what to look for. The only things in HotW that instakill undergeared players are the Quaggans and IceWolves which don’t appear more than once at any path. (or never have to be fought in the first place)

It’s not about exotics, it’s about pure power builds not relying on crits or conditions. One decent warrior and one decent ele can duo the whole room. The problem there is that necros are generally useless and everyone has to swap everything they can for as much pure power as they can.
4 necro team will never get through it, though, other than aggroing all mobs and running with them around until collectors are filled. That’s how i got it done the first time i saw it, back in my ele’s 40s…
But eles, wars, engis, guards – they have all the tools needed.

More so, the AC set is cheaper than other sets – 1200 tears rather than 1380. This dungeon is also one of the shortest and yields most sure money, aka in raw coin that drops.

That said, warrior can be a bunker as well, dishing out more damage and having much higher personal survival than an ele – pow/tough/vit and emerald mace/shield warrior with gs or axes on swap, built on healing shouts, with runes of yak or soldier (if they’re finally working…). Still over 3k attack and unimaginable armor and hp pool.

I recall sometime around Launch one of the Designers responding to a post here about how unfair “Destructables” are to Condition builds. … hopefully they’ll address that issue at the same time they finally fix the Hitbox issue too.

…Speaking of which, let’s hope there’s no objectives in this FOTM yet that require beating on those same bugged Hitboxes (or if there are, let’s hope they’re disabled until the bug gets fixed for good)

What I don’t get though is how we never have that same issue with the Ballistas & Totems in this Dungeon? ….That’s ANOTHER big new-player-friendly point for HOTW
