I played Honor of the Waves explorable mode yesterday and I want to say one thing: It’s unfinished. In fact, it’s probably the buggiest experience I’ve had with explorable mode dungeons so far.

First off, I didn’t get a letter inviting me to join explorable mode, which is already a disappointment compared to the other dungeons. Given, I already know there’s an explorable mode, but it’s still nice to have an invitation and an actual reason to go back there.

Second, there are literally no waypoints in this dungeon except the first one. At least one around half way would make the experience much smoother.

Third, the bosses in path 2 and 3 at the end are horrible to fight. I do like the idea of underwater bosses, but due to the fact that underwater combat is somewhat flawed at the moment (e.g. Elementalists only have one elite, damage is only a fraction of surface combat, ressing is too slow (you barely outheal natural downed state degen)) the experience was horrible.
One boss (with the charging spear attack that instantly downs you) took ages to kill (20 to 30 minutes iirc) while having an ability that instantly downs and subsequently kills you.
The other underwater boss was quite buggy. Our team managed to get out of the water through a hole in the top right corner of the pool and then damage him while he was still using his underwater skills on foes on land.

Fourth, there’s a bug allowing path 2 and 3 to be done in the same run. You can swim over the gate in the room of the latter boss and proceed to the third boss. Of course I was happy I could do that, since the bosses themselves were atrocious, but I don’t think it was intended this way.

Fifth, the totems on the last boss of path 1 respawn way too quickly. Without using ice bows, it’s literally impossible to get them all down unless you don’t damage the boss at all and all focus on the totems.

In the end I’d like to say that I found the other bosses quite interesting and the dungeon design appealed to me, there’s just a few flaws still remaining that need to be ironed out.

Welcome to 2 months ago! I vaguely remember them having already nerfed Wahlen’s health abit (lol!). And yeah, there needs to be fire fields for eles so I could stack might underwater too ’cause charr logic.

Quasi-elitist dungeoneer and missing Gw1 GvGs greatly.
“GW2’s PvE is almost as bad as the PvP.”

3 – get lv80 aquabreathers from Orr. Get proper exotic underwater lv80 weapons. Don’t waste dodges to just swim faster.
And that’s it! The bosses become a facetank fest.
Thank the Six there’s no invulnerable bug in those fights as during most underwater encounters.

5 – just keep the protection buff down from him, everything else is neglible and can be ignored.

There’s no letter sent out for any of the explorable dungeons. They’re part of the dungeon story modes.
The dungeon’s fine, stop nit picking.

Really? HotW is the easiest and shortest explorable dungeon, in my opinion. I understand not liking the underwater bosses, since underwater fighting is a bit strange at the moment. But you actually think the butcher was hard? Im sorry but perhaps you need to upgrade your gear and go play outside dungeons a bit and work on your skill before going back to a dungeon.

How is HotW shorter than let’s say, AC? By the time you kill one underwater boss in HotW you could’ve finished 2 paths in AC.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

HoTW is VERY easy, it just sounds like you didn’t have a good group/didn’t know exactly what to do(or expect).

Once you understand it…it just flies by and the amount of drops you get can easily net you an extra 30s on top of the 26+ per run.
