I did HOTW on my ele, story mode and was just wondering if there was a viable tactic for the first boss and The Hunter?

The first boss has AoE everywhere and it seems unavoidable, I tried running onto his platform but the AoE followed me there and he kept pushing me back and hit quite a lot on me.

The Hunter, his birds literally tear anyone apart, our warrior kept dying despite dodging twice, the only counter I could think of is building specifically to not be a glass cannon to survive the birds.

I cant see how you had trouble with the boss. I can hardly recall my story mode run with HOTW, but it went smoothly.

Must be bad luck and bad coordination? Ramp up the teamwork, and it shouldnt be a problem I think?

Which boss? They’re asking about two bosses. Did you read the post?

Anyway, I’m not sure about the first boss. There is a way to get up onto the platform, but he kept knocking me back when I did it. Another party member was able to get up there, although when I asked him his answer wasn’t very clear and the group moved on.

The birds on the last boss is just a poorly designed mechanic. Dodges work, if you even have the stamina after dodging the boss’s other moves. Otherwise, you’d have to use some sort of invincibility move. On my graveyard run back, I switched in Elixir S and Elixir R as an engineer, but even then that wasn’t enough to deal with how much dodging you have to do between him and his pet. The fact that they just suddenly appear doesn’t really help much either.

For the first boss (is that the one that doesn’t move), my party stood in the little nook to the side of his main platform. Didn’t get hit by the AoE or him much at all. As for the last, we wound up separating him from his hound somehow. After that, it was mostly dodging, and ressing really fast. We had 3 people the entire run.

Yeah, I heard there was some sort of safespot for the first boss, I’ll try to find one when I do it on my new thief.
For the last boss even if I dodged twice the birds killed me, now I may have been a glass cannon, but that’s the only boss I’ve found so far that can outright kill you even if you dodge. We basically had to graveyard zerg rush him, I could only survive if my mist form was off CD. I heard somewhere that the birds get off you if you jump into the water, but I looked down and saw 4 champions sharks, that didn’t seem appealing either.

We did the Story mode with a team of only 2(!) players(it was the first time i entered this dungeon in story mode, so i didn’t know any of the bosses) and didn’t face any major difficulties. The Hunter can be tough, but with 5 people he should be pretty easy.

Are u trolling? or how do you guys in general define “easy”?

because I just tried this place with a team of 5 level 80, geared in rares/exotics and i dont think anyone enjoyed much of it.

First off the fight with constant kb elementals
Then the boss who cant move, aoes entire room, and kb. ’
Then the boss downstairs with all the aoes and the mobs spawning, not too bad, but so many aoes
At this point the dunegon bugged out as we met the voice, but nothing happened.

This group has done all other dungeons previous to Hotw with not much issues, except catacombs which is also poorly balanced/designed, and I think my biggest gribe is that melee is ALWAYS punished, as well as the insane damage numbers.

Im a warrior with 3300 armor, almost 26k hp, and still these ice elementals do up to 20k if i am unlucky as i try to control/tank/whatever else stupid term u wanna use for that role in this game.

Im sorry, but I do not see how this is regarded as a fun nor balanced fight.

My party was 3 level 80s. A guardian (fully geared in exotics) and 2 necromancers (I have rares, but I don’t think our other necro had any). It was our first time going through, so none of us knew what we were doing. For the boss with constant knockback, after we went in the space to the left of the boss on his platform, we literally just sat there ranged auto attacking without effort. I think the NPC wound up tanking for us (zen bear is awesome). We had no difficulty against Hirvela, can’t remember much of that fight to be honest.

Lani, the one that spawns mobs was annoying. But we just kited him around pillars constantly and avoided the AoE circles. The Voice boss is incredibly easy and does pretty much nothing. The Hunter is annoying with the birds, but with a party that resses you once you go down, it wasn’t an issue.

There’s not much opportunity for melee in the dungeon (at least against the bosses), but the bosses themselves weren’t super difficult.

Exotics mean very little, to all those moaning about how their good gear should carry them through dungeons. Especially for those who run glass cannon gear/spec and expect results other than one that spells their death the moment a mob so much as looks at them.

Done HotW story and explorable in 30 minutes and under each with a group that sports greens and blues.

It’s a matter of learning the fights and knowing when to kite and when to dps.

Also, most people don’t open up with AoE CCs on melee mobs and instead resort to doing as much damage as possible. Except these mobs are designed to do more damage than players can ever hope to reach. With more health as well.
