Just coming back from a launch week departure and was wondering how long raids take to finish.

I just want to know if they are something I should pursue or not waste my time.

I play a lot but I can’t stand raids like in WoW that take 4+ hours.

It takes about 2-8 minutes to get to the boss, and then if you succeed in one try, 8 min to kill the boss.
not including time it takes for everyone to get ready (everyone to get in squad, get on voice chat, use food, be on the right class, etc.)

In practice, a moderately experienced group seems to take 1-2 hours per raid wing. Highly experienced and coordinated groups can do it faster. Inexperienced groups can take much longer or, more typically, fail to clear at all. Each wing has 3 bosses, and each boss can be done in a separate session if desired. You could do one boss per day, each week.

(and btw I have no idea how WoW’s raids work)

My group is experience, with good build, foods and players that killed each boss at least 10 times each. We complete both wings (6 bosses) in less than 2 hours when everything go well. We have less experience with matthias, I bet we could complete all 6 in 90min eventually. But it also took us 12 hours to kill VG the first time. So ya, it all depend on the experience of your group.

Our less experienced group can complete the 1 wing in 2 hours.

I’ll second this. My guild of very mixed skill (we have some pros and some not-so-pros) is able to clear both wings in roughly 2 hours. That includes breaks, mistakes, and random stoppages.

That said, it’s taken us months to get to that point. We previously would take about 2 hours to clear a single wing. And that was only after weeks of learning the bosses.

We’re about to start training up a new group of people, I’m very curious to see what our run times look like with 2-5 new players…

I just want to chime in here and add in a reality check:

The OP is new to raids, so I don’t think they’re anywhere close to downing bosses like others here are talking about.

OP: The time raids take depends a lot on you. Many groups will spend a couple hours on them, but some people will also put in 4+ hours. It just depends on you and your group. However, if you only feel comfortable putting in an hour or two, then you should be fine. Even if your group keeps going, they can likely just get a replacement for the party.

However, if you’re new to raids, don’t expect to see all bosses dead within that time frame. Depending on the rest of your group, you could fly through the raid or spend all night on the first boss.

This is very true, but if you go back and read, each one of us included those caveats in our post. I don’t think we were being particularly misleading in saying “an hour or two per wing once you’ve spent the weeks/months learning the fights,” to paraphrase.

Coming from a semi-casual raiding guild without set raiding time and no consistent group, the boss progression for the guild has been as follow :

- 2 weeks for VG first kill, 4 weeks for reliable kill in 1-2 try
- 2 weeks for Gorseval first kill after VG first kill, 8 weeks for reliable kill
- 2 weeks first kill, 4 weeks for reliable kill
- 1 week slothasor first kill (first guild kill last night)
- 1 hour trio first kill (first guild kill last night)
- no data on Matthias

My personal progression has been a bit faster but still slow as pugging is a hit and miss process. On the other hand, I know guilds that have practice every week for 4-5 hours since raid were released months ago and still can’t down any boss.

Don’t be fooled by all those saying that you can clear both wing in 1h30 total as it’s very unlikely that it will be your reality if you are new. Last week we cleared wing 1 in 2 hours but it’s not representative of the months of struggle before that. During those months of struggle, the longest part was finding enough players to stop pugging half the raid every night… It takes a long time to form a good raiding group unless you are very lucky or have very good friends.

Pffff, it depends alot on whether you PUG it or go with a more organised team. With PUGS your looking at anything between 1hour-4 hours, personally I feel 2hours/3hours is the average time if ya join good PUG groups. My advise is to just take it slow and maybe kill a boss a day, be nice and get a good raiding guild/network.

To illustrate, I couldn’t get the kill on VG/Gorse monday. Tryed another run a little bit later, got Mathias on the first try with PUGs.

With a friend/guild team it will take you about 2 hours on average.

In a relaxed run you need about 30 min for wing 1 and a bit longer for wing 2.

Depends on people exp, skill, pratice and etc.

My group clear both wings usually in 1 hour.

Experienced groups complete both in under an hour without screw ups

Casual groups generally don’t always guarantee a clear

It’s worth nothing that raids aren’t about skill, they’re absolutely about coordination and experience amongst all of the squad members

I took our guild around 90min to clear both raid wings today (with 2 seperate groups)
