How do I dungeon? What do?
Call targets and focus fire on them one at a time. It also helps to know in what order to target them. You’ll learn that as you go or you can pick it up from other players.
Main: Caeimhe – Sylvari Ranger
Alts: Charr Guardian, Asura Elementalist, Human Thief, Norn Necromancer
What dungeon did you run? What profession are you and do you remember what the others you ran with were? Are you running with a full glass cannon build and did you have any supports?
I lack some information to help you but some general things that can help in a dungeon is to have stun breaking skills or skills that grant Stability to recover from knockdown/knockback. Having a ranged and a melee weapon can also help alot. If the melee fight gets to dangerous back off and use ranged attacks while you recover. Alternatively you can also just use ranged attacks if the fight itself is to dangerous. Also be aware of enemies AOEs and watch your boons and conditions. Having a skill that cleanses conditions can be a blessing.
Enter dungeon, kill stuff before it kills you, receive dosh n’ tokens.
What dungeon did you run out of curiosity? The first one I ever ran was AC and I was in the same boat as you. I died probably 30 times in Story mode and constantly in Exp Mode and was just amazed by how hard it was. I have since done a few other dungeons and had little to no problem with any of them. I’ll never set foot in AC again, that dungeon is just awful but others aren’t nearly so bad. I just finished my Citadel of Flame set for my warrior and it was pretty fun and not very difficult at all.
It’s possible you just picked a dungeon that wasn’t a good match for your class setup or particular skill set. I’m sure if I went back now that I’m more experienced and tried AC again that I would do better, but I just decided to accept that I hate that dungeon and just skip it.
Alright alright. The dungeon WAS AC in story mode. I’m a warrior that uses GS’s with 10 trait points in strength and 10 in arms. I use signets for the passive benefit and the arms perk. I tend to stay away from banners because of their odd mecanic (I’d rather not have to rely on them but it sounds like I’ll have to). We had a warrior with a warhorn, which counts as a support I guess?
Edit: I’m level 32… the rest were 60+

Also you said before that your tried to tank. Did you do this like in other rpgs like wow or rift? To me it seems like mobs hit for alot more in the dungeons than they do in other morpgs and there arent any dedicated healers in GW2. If you did that may have been where one of the faults lied since to me you cant directly facetank in GW2. Its more about moving and kiting the enemies around. Its surprising how many hits you can avoid by side strafing.
Yes, I tried the traditional face-tank. I charged in and shield-blocked and it worked, but only for as long as the ability was up.
Then I melted. I thought you could tank at least to some degree in this game but it seems like this game has completely done away with the healing and tanking role… not that I’m complaining.
