Thread title.

Personally I find it humiliating, whether I had no chance of surviving or not, though depending on how dumb the reason is the more embarrassing it is (doing SE p1 and getting knocked in to lava by inquest was probably my worst).

I laugh it off most of the time. Or casually blame a friend because its never my fault!

That was amusing yesterday killing Nokk and then after looting the chest the whole group gets knocked off the platform by a remaining singularity.

I get all excited, and quickly start looking for an enemy to rally off of. I actually like downed state, though some of the abilities bother me.

I also love blinking across a battlefield to res someone in downed state during a clinch boss-fight.

If I get downed because of something I know I did wrong, such as messing up my rotations and dying to rapidfire on lupi or something, then I get pretty annoyed with myself. If I just die due to w/e, then I’ll just cry.

Oh yeah, that one was pretty funny. Getting knocked off by inquest silvers about a week ago though …. wow that was just bad.

I feel like I can finally contribute to the group using my my Guardian’s hybrid downed/symbol build.

“F*** me, someone rez.” is usually my immediate reaction, unless there is an easy rally, then I’ll just go for that.

Also, depends on why I got downed. If it’s because I’m just too brave (read: stupid) and run in too fast and get focussed down like the moron I am, I’ll blame me.

If I got hit by a Dragon’s tooth/got murdered by feedback on lupi, and there is an obvious person to blame, I’ll blame them, but never get mad. Unless it’s like the fifth time they screw up.

I curse a lot though…

Ohhhh I feel so bad when going down… I tend to be pretty inconsistent at times, so I happen to get downed in encounters I usually beat just fine, and only because… I don’t know.. that day I was in a bad mood because of an arguement or I ate something I didn’t like. I blame myself all the time because 99% it’s my fault, and… I blame myself for everything anyway.
It’s my biggest problem, I know I can do great but sometimes I just don’t perform :/

I usually type out “Haaaaaalp!”

Downed really isn’t so bad for me, because you can usually make it out of it as a guardian. It’s when either no one makes even a passing attempt to rez me or when the enemy whittles you down to zero seconds after you drop that I get really frustrated.

I know that feeling… its such a pain

I try to not down and if i do, it’s usually my fault or because of a darn lagspike(on US). On EU i barely ever down in dungeons even on my berserker ele, because of no delay.

If it’s in a good/high DPS group, i don’t think much about it, because i’ll rally quick anyways. In pugs, the groups usually wipe if i end up downing, unless there’s at least another good player in there to carry the rest.

The worst is when he won’t aggro you in phase 2. He spends half the time invulnerable, shadowstepping around the room. So annoying.

Another bad one the other night. Myself and a DnT buddy got some lupi melee pugs. Myself, my buddy and 2 pugs all die in phase 3 bubbles somehow (we were all dps). Left standing was a PVT warrior who had to ooc long enough for us to res rush from the wp. Luckily he was at least proficient enough in melee, besides his incessant moving in phase 3 which kept getting us bubbled. It was annoying getting “saved” by a PVT warrior who unknowingly got us killed in the first place. Gave him the “good job!” anyways.

What sort of ping do most folks get, out of curiousity? Normally I sit around 80-110, but sometimes for no apparently reason I can easily ride at 200-250, which really bones me.

150-250+ on US almost consistently, 20-50 on EU. Sometimes i get massive lag every few seconds on either region, though.

I feel like doing 50% moar damage while down!

normally I have around 800

~250-350 here.
90% of my deaths are caused by taking a big hit mid-dodge.
The other 10% split up into unavoidable things (2%), strategic downing (i.e. to rally a half second later with more hp – 3%) or stupid self fails (5%).
In 90% i just think “huh, saw this coming/anet fix your servers”, make some semi-rage comment and keep playing. 2% are “kitten this game”, 3% are “yiha” and 5% are “kitten me, kitten me, kitten me, kitten me, kitten me, kitten kitten kitten kitten… kitten”. Or i just lean back for 5 minutes, shaking my head and facepalming about wtf i just did.

I probably should learn solo lupi on warrior first since they can take 2-3 kicks/aoes/life drain ticks instead of getting 1 shot on ele by anything lupi does.

If you go down while reviving someone you can at least blame them!

(All you warriors and necros out there, when a thief tries to revive you in a shadow refuge you should not attack from down state. Attacking just reveals you and brings aoe down on you and your thief who should then probably leave you to die a well deserved death).

Isn’t it just the best? I can just avoid kicks if I dodge the second he twitches his leg, but I’ll see the tell too late if I spin him around too much, godd/amn locusts. Though I can’t dodge that Rapid Fire attack for kitten, always roll out of that one with half my health gone. Do yourself a favour and get an MMO mouse, I have no idea how Ele’s can sift through skills and attunements whilst moving without one….

Really a shame when i think about my youtube upload beeing faster than my gw2 download…
Or my 5-10ms ping to other games.

Forgot to mention: Sometimes i get 1000+ ping for a few seconds @ past 3pm GMT+1, then it goes back to about 250 on US. Unplayable when this happens.

Does anyone else that plays from EU on US get this kind of huge lag?

When i play on US i have like 500-600 ping.

I usually sing some Disney songs, tell everyone that I’m sorry for playing badly. And I definitely don’t swear a lot or tell people how bad they are or break my keyboard.

Well, 95% of the time when I down, its my own piggleting fault, even those times when it is someone else’s “job” to save/protect/aegis me, I should have been capable of dodging or getting out of the way, even if i have to go out of my way to do so. The other 5%, when alpha crystals me or a dead eye pierces someone else and hits me, I just go “oh well” and carry on.
P.S. Since this appears to be a lagg contest, my average ping is ~500 ms. I think I do just fine.

Since I almost always pug or run with people new to the dungeon, I’d say 60% of my deaths come from ressing people, 10% from lagging, 30% is because I noob, and when I’m down, I don’t really think anything of it.

I don’t feel anything. It’s just a game deteriorating slowly, so who cares. Besides, I always blame the internet.

Diablo 3 is getting rid of the auction house next year and a better loot system, that’s a good candidate for the game that I finally give up GW2 to go play.

I -was- tempted to ask what it is about GW2 that is keeping people like you and colesy around.

Also speaking of Diablo 3: Have you tried Torchlight II yet? I hear some people say that it’s the game D3 ought to have been.

The people I’ve met through the game, the guild I’m in, the aesthetics (of the non-ret*rded things like holo wings and dumb crap like that) and the enjoyable gameplay keep me interested. As much as I might QQ about things like the horrific pug community, organised gameplay in gw2 really is something to behold – taking part in a pain train in WvW and destroying enemies with superior numbers or running dungeons with an experienced group where everyone knows their purpose and you execute manoeuvres that you know only a minority of people can pull off … it’s very satisfying.
