Having a hard time trying to find a full group to start breaking into fractals and work my way up.

Any suggestions?

Dont worry about fractal levels, don’t worry about doing it in order, and dont worry about finding a dedicated group. Just do the T1 dailies that you have the AR for.. Start getting AR, just throw in + 3s to your right side (if you dont have right side stuff, LS S3 maps to get them) and slowly start working up. Eventually it will get easier to get +9 ar and left side ascended. IF you find your fractal level is too low to get into the next tiers LFG listings, just spam the highest level daily you can that will give you levels, until your level is at a point that you can get into the next LFG.

Farm enough gold to get ascended gear and 150 AR. Fractal rewards are worthless below Tier 4.

It’s a horrible system, with ridiculous gold-gates and time-sinks. Ironic that it takes far longer to be fractal ready than raid ready, but agony is a system they don’t want to remove because it’d remove their much beloved gold sinks that drive up gem to gold sales.

I have gone through the process recently. I don’t agree with zenith.

There seems to be a current change in fractal groups, maybe caused by returning players. All of a sudden, Achievement Points are required in many LFG groups. A new member of our guild tried to get into T1 groups and told us about his experience. Apparently, there are some people now who require more than 200 or 500 APs for low level fractals.

Honestly, this is stupid. I’ve been told that before HoT, there wasn’t much else people could rely on when making guesses about your skill or experience, so APs was the measurement. That probably led a lot of people to inflate their AP-score with collecting skins or doing other things that give you APs, like killing 1000 bats, or doing story achievements.

But that doesn’t show how capable you are in T1 fractals. I really would like to know what these people are thinking. If you do T1 fractals, you are a beginner yourself, unless you are doing the recommended daily one or do it for fun. If you do it for fun though, why care about stupid things like APs? If you do high level fractals, and then jump into T1, it’s so easy it doesn’t really matter what 2 or 3 other team members do. If you have to ask for experience or AP, maybe you shouldn’t be in T1 fractals. I never expect anyone to know the mechanics when I do T1 with a pug. I ask at the beginning if anyone is new to this fractal, and then play accordingly.

One time we had a guy who carried a rock in Molten Furnace right to the steam curtain and dropped it there. Took us a while to realize why the curtain didn’t vanish, then explained it to him and had a good laugh. In the higher tiers, I would have asked that person to leave.

These groups don’t even announce that they require X APs, they just kick when you join and they see it. You don’t even get the opportunity to play with them. We told our new member that fractals is a good way to get gold and to learn general game mechanics, even when you just started. Now we have to introduce him to T1 fractals.

Only very few of them have requirements, mostly the ones above level 20 because those are the ones where you need AR in T1. The majority is set without any requirements and as a beginner you have a broad choice spectrum.

Do you living outside NA & EU?

I find it surprising that you have a hard time finding a group. There are literally dozen of listings in 1-25 Fractals during evening hours of NA & EU.

Fair enough, and yesterday some guild members introduced him to T1 fractals (while I was at work). I don’t like pugging either, it’s so much more relaxed with people who know you.

I may take you up on that. I found a guild that will take me to raid with full exotics… which i feel very very lucky for. I’ve got 2 slots left I think, bc you can be in more than one, correct? Sorry still super new trying to figure everything out.

So as of late, I’ve been advertising on LFG as “Breaking into fractals – starting at X” where “X” is the level of fractal. I’ve been having a bit of luck here and there, but am having a hard time with one thing…

How to climb the ladder? I know someone above said not to worry about climbing 1 by 1 but I feel as though i would need that eventually, and rather do it sooner than later, while there are still new people working on it… maybe?

and Voidvector, there are tons of t1 fractal groups, but not many that are willing to work up from the bottom… they just want the daily and they’re done, which really doesn’t help me at all. The groups that are willing to start low and work up are few and far between I’m afraid.

I haven’t run into any AP requirements, mostly bc I’m the one advertising that it’s a newbie group, so it’s been psudo working out.

thanks for the responses guys. I’ll give the suggestions a try and see what I can accomplish. I feel like the fractals should give me enough gold to start to craft ascended gear to put agony resistance on etc. to let me climb, but i hear those are long craft times and very expensive. sad days…

So long as someone in your party is at a certain level, that level can be set. Someone in the LFG party will be able to open fractal 18 even if you are only able to open fractal 8.

The reason more people aren’t climbing the ladder is because they already have. T4 parties fill up quickly.

It is super easy to find people to do dailies or daily recommended fractals, and nearly impossible to find people to do any other fractal except a 40 farm, or 99/100 challenge mode.

Let me see if I understand, (I’m not trying to be difficult, I honestly want to understand how this works) — so even though my max level fractal is lvl8, I get into a group doing a level 20. Say we complete the level 20. Does that raise my max level to 9? or does it stay at 8 and I have to rely on others to up the number?

if you do any fractal bettwen 9-100 you will go up 1 level

If you started at level 1 and did them all in order, you’d be at level 100. Alternatively, if you started at 1 and did fractal 100 99 times, you’d also be at level 100.

All that matters is you’re doing fractals at or above your personal level. Doing that raises your personal level by 1. That’s why the methods I mentioned earlier work. You could also find a group of T4 friends, get enough AR, and just do dailies with them. In a few days you too would be T4.

In your example, even though someone else opened fractal 20, you would raise in personal level to 9 by virtue of completing it. You could go your entire GW2 career and never do fractal 8, but have a personal level of 100.

My personal fractals level 100 for quite some time but I still lack the Fractal Expert and Fractal Master achievements. If you try to do every fractal in sequence, you will need a lot of time and patience. Simply because there are fractals nobody ever does. For example, I never did 63/68/69 and 84/86/88 Thaumanova/Snowblind/Chaos/Cliffside. They are never dailies at these levels, and they are time consuming. Even if you put up an LFG, it’s hard to get people to join.

You either have to ask guild members to “waste” their time there, or you have to put a range of 10 levels in your LFG. If you are lucky, other players who need a few of those fractals for the achievement join you. Two weeks ago I finished the T2 achievement doing that. Had to do 6 fractals to get the 2 done I actually needed. The other members might not need 68, but are willing to help if you help them to get 62 done.

Rumour has it that there are players who skipped T3 almost entirely because they got into a static that did T4 ^^ not recommending it though.
