How to prevent long stun from Subject Alpha?
The stun bug happens when you kill the crystal too fast. You can prevent this by applying party-wide stability before he gets in LOS. A popular choice is guardian’s “Hallowed Ground.”
If you’re quick enough you can also evade it. The animation is quick though.
Make sure stability is applied before the crystal is placed. Hallowed ground and Syg will work. Pug guardians don’t usually do this so you may need to bring your own personal stability.

You can’t evade it. Only skills that “evade” it are ones that make you invulnerable, dodging however does not.

You are the CoE hermit, so I concede to your judgement, but I know for a fact that I’ve caught evasion frames while he did the crystal tells. This was w/o stability or invuln. I have however been caught mid dodge, but I’ve attributed that to me dodging too late.
I don’t suppose you have any vids of failed crystal dodges?
No videos, just experience. Getting bugged through Blurred Frenzy (evade) is the most common. I’ll see if I can catch it on video next time I run coe and get unlucky to get caught.
Thanks for the responses.
I often PUG CoE as Guardian but I enjoy leaping the gate while waiting for the NPC. I find it easier to do on Warrior because I can’t seem to aim Guardian leap right.
When I fight Subject Alpha, I usually just bring the fire field consecrations for (potential) might stacking. Next time, I’ll be sure to maintain stability during the fight by saving Hallowed Ground for the actual fight and having Stand Your Ground to continue stability for longer fights.

You can blink/shadowstep out of it. Yes?

It’s vague, but I would say yes, back when mesmer Sword was good, I could escape the crystal by swaping out of it.
Yes you can teleport out, as long as your teleport end point is not inside the crystal. Aka, don’t steal to alpha unless he’s actually nowhere near your crystal. Tendrils make nice steal targets.

this is my experience as well, because I routinely get the bug while FGS skill #3. It’s frustrating as hell on something like an ele where a single missed dodge while bugged is rip.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait.
I haven’t played my mes in a while, but what happened to mes sword? Is sw/sw + sw/f not meta anymore? What could they have possibly done to make BF not worth it? O.o
Sword 3 leap.
I think crystal dodge only works if you do it before the tell, once he jumps you’re already frozen. One of those dumb animation mismatches.
Also trying to teleport out of the crystal usually bugs it for me.

I’m thinking this might be the case as well. I’ll have to pay closer attention if I manage to evade it again.
