I Really don't like getting only Tokens from dungeons.
.. to get tokens to get cool stuff.
You would rather rely on RNG? Okay. Let’s use another game as an example, a game I played for a long time. I must have run instances 50 times attempting to get set pieces to complete my set. Never happened because of RNG – some drops were considered “rare”.
I guarantee I’d have the full set of armor I’d want, WELL BEFORE 50 times, by getting tokens instead.
Nobody has stated in this thread that they want JUST RNG. Read the thread man and whats been debated. People want a the tokens to stay but want an alternative to JUST tokens. Grinding for just tokens is just bland and boring. There is no excitement or awe factor involved. That is what is missing.
That’s what I got from his quote:
“More challenge that leads to more rewards, less faceroll, less stupid grind for nothing”
To me this means “I want less grind to get gear”, where as I consider RNG more grind. This is why I argued against it.
I think he is saying the dungeons are too easy and just a long kitten grind for tokens. There is nothing else involved with them other then that. Kinda like what I was saying about there being no cool drops.
Allow me to put it in simpler terms:
Chance of getting something – bad
Knowing you’ll get something with enough effort – good
and why can’t we have both, after all Anet is supposed to be the AntiGrind developer.
give everyone 60 tokens at the end of the dungeon AND have there be a chance for a rare item from the chests. maybe have bigger chance on the final boss.
Khallis, I wouldn’t mind getting nice stuff from dungeons – I like the transformation potions, for example. However, I don’t think any “show off” or vanity items should be RNG based (as this game is about vanity and not stats). I don’t know, call me whacky, I just like working towards rewards and not praying to the RNG gods to get them.
I fail to follow, Hughs – if you’ve gotten everything you can from the dungeon tokens, why are you still doing that dungeon? Perhaps do a different one?
It seems very strange, you coming here and basically saying “I got everything I want from the dungeon, and I’m upset that I’m farming it and getting nothing I want”.
Maybe I could get a few more tokens to have other skins, but still that wouldn’t be really exciting.
I’m just saying that i pretty much have no reasons to play now which is why i’m posting on forums instead of playing : p
I kinda sense that i’m in a beautiful world, amazing cities, with almost nothing exciting to do. I think many players are in this situation, or will be very soon.

I think his point is if you do not want or need tokens to get a set there is no point to do them.
This applies to me. Have no desire to run the dungeons dozens of times to get the sets of gear. So basically I ran the dungeons once to see them and that is it. He is asking form more incentives to keep running them.
Would some RNG vanity item in a dungeon fix that, or merely postpone it until the RNG gods decided you are worthy of that item?
Of course we all want to have something to keep striving for – this is why all these people asking to nerf the difficulty make me mad. But RNG, in my opinion, is just not the way. It needs to be a long – but clear – path towards completion.
I think ANet may have made the path a wee bit too short for some people.
I don’t really have any opinion on RNG in general, they surely wouldn’t make the dungeons better or more fun, but beside the tokens maybe a few random rare drops (not necessarily talking about yellow here) could add something to the game. Like “hey, look what i dropped, how cool is that !” instead of “oh, this blue/green crap again, well ..”
At the moment it’s just like nothing is worth the effort.
Just look at the “champion” mobs : why would i spend 5 minutes smashing my head on them ? I see no fun killing them, and no rewards either.
or : The end of the game : Zhaitan …. no comment.

I totally hear you man. I feel the same way.
I can describe the games level 80 PVE in one very shorty summary.
GRIND
There is nothing to strive for in PvE at Lvl 80 other then GRIND. Same applies to WvW. In SPvP you at least have Ranks with rewards associated to said rank.
This will over time kill PvE in GW2 and probably will kill WvW eventually as well.
I do them over and over again because they’re fun and you get coins for awesome gear and make gold. It’s a win win for me.
I would really just like to point out a few things:
It takes 8 Days to get all pieces of armor for a dungeon clearing all paths (which constitutes a ‘dungeon run’) once per day. It takes a maximum of 3 days to get the most expensive weapons. Depending on the dungeon and group lets say that it takes around 2.5 hours to clear a dungeon (Some take much shorter, others longer). Thats 20 hours to get max armor over 8 days. If you think that is a long time then…. well you obviously have never had to truly grind in your life. Get over the fact you can only run it once per day, run more than 1 dungeon and get rewards faster.

Someone mentioned mini’s, I like that idea. So far the chests and drops are useless and outside of the tokens, coin and exp. there really isn’t much in the way of possible worthwhile reward. Adding something like possible mini’s, items off of the store like armor repair canisters, buffs, etc. would be a welcome addition. Make them rare drops, I don’t care, but most of that crap that’s currently dropped is well… crap.
Anet repeatedly said that they are looking at the dungeon loot.
