I'm killing myself in Fractals, and for what?
All that is needed is a weapon skin token earned from higher levels like relics for rings and add existing skins to an existing trader. I’d imagine that is a fairly simple thing to do and it would make so many people happy and interested in the content again.
I just go for the bags anymore. I’m glad they have those there so running it isn’t a total waste anymore. I’m not sure what I’ll do in the game anymore once I get all the bags for my 8 slots from running 48s. I probably still won’t have the sword by then though but I guess I’ll always have my 3 torches to look at.
It’s the same idea of when I eat cheeseburgers over and over and hope that chewing burns the calories away. I stopped my progressiokitten after spending 3 weeks where a guild member we grouped with disconnected each night at either Maw or the 3rd fractal due to poor internet. This was of course before the DC issue was fixed. All of that combined with only getting maybe 5 or so skins total, all of which I couldn’t make any use of and the increasing amount of WTF nerfs made me lose interest. I don’t really understand the state of Fractals, and I feel bad for the people wasting away trying for that Greatsword or whatever else they may be after. It’s a terrible way to have to gear alts, it’s simply not worth the time investment, and it’s been in this state for so long that I’m not sure why Fractals are still in the game. I still haven’t given up on cheeseburgers, though. Maybe I’ll be skinny again some day.

Just make fractal skins actual skins and transferable to PvP, it’s pretty horsekitten that they need a transmutation stone to be used, + if they’re useable in PvP it gives people a reason to use weapons their PvE mains can’t.
And then in the future when the cap is raised to 80 with new rewards, and im forced to level from 30-80 while you are already at 38, you will be king.
I’m at level 49 and i get Nothing from FOTM.. a 2 hour run gets me 80 Silver worth of greens and blues.. lol thats it
I used to run FOTM all the time and got back from 6-10g per run. but they Nerfed it into nothing.
Joke reward isn’t exclusive to fotm but all dungeons. I think anet don’t understand what good reward is (even though this wasn’t a problem in gw1) because they’ve already ‘upped’ dungeon reward and its as laughably weak as it was since day one.
19 skins later and still not one great sword.
Yeah you’ve been killing yourself for fractals and for what? I don’t think there is any promise of anything better at level 40 than level 20. You just get a different equation for time invested and frequency of items. When it gets to the endgame you can make your own goals and you don’t need to chase gear if you don’t want to put the time in. There’s little point complaining about the time you chose to spend in high level fractals since you probably knew all the issues before you got to level 30.
There’s no evidence to suggest that the designers particularly want players to get to high level fractals. It’s the player base that expects more levels with ever increasing rewards.
so which daily (20+ for chance at skin) has the best reward/time ratio atm? still 26?
The problem is the rewards arent balanced with difficulty. Atm, you make more money mindlessly farming orr/cof then anywhere in the game. The highest level fractals should be the best money in the game. It should be like DoA from gw1. Guarenteed cash because of the level of difficulty.
Another problem is the lack of a “carrot” in the dungeons. They need to add a unique weapon skin set to each dungeon that is A. Seperate from token rewards and B. Tradable. Thats why people ran all the dungeons in gw1 and it would be why they would run all of them in gw2. Its such a simple solution but its Anet we are talking about.
They are more more focused on putting more consortium chest BS in the Gem Store. I mean thats what we really want! Right guys!?
hard enough to make them cry, not just rivers but oceans."
funny thing:
Fotm was a good source of T6 mats ….
Since Yesterday anet decided southsun cove should poop T6 mats easily thus they nerfed Fotm rewards and dregde stage in particular.
I expect to have dredge stage to format your pc next update just so the challenge is more fun….
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Speaking of fractals. Can we now finally do Lv50+ again without being hardcapped by Maw agony anymore?
When they hardcapped Fractals, most people would have 25 AR (or 30 AR if they were wealthy enough to spend 250 Ectos for the Infused Backpack) when doing FotM Lv48+. Now it’s at 40 to 45.
Will we be able to go higher once devs finally decide to further develop fractals in the far future?

LOL.
I’m up to lvl45 in fotm. Got my last ascended piece and am rocking 45ar, but I’m just continuing leveling up to 50 for the hell of it, really. The rewards do suck. The time involvement is either alright (swamp/ocean/urban(or uncatagorized) or god awful (swamp or water/grawl/dredge(/cliffside). It’s just not a good recipe.
They need a fractal team, it just has such vast possibilities.
If they make something as awful as dredge fractal again though, I will likely never set foot in Dessa’s lab.
And when you take one step further on difficulty and try to solo something… I don’t want to even talk about it.
Anet doesn’t cater to this top echelon luxury market segment in which their players also possess competent skills and self sufficient. Logically, there will be only changes to slow down your objective until Anet deems to open it up to attract the larger player base. I would not expect they even spent time to fix bugs those would slow you down. Their current objective is trying to maintain their main base players and attracting new ones. Read their Q1-2013 quarterly report & get some ideas of it.

I think you’re right, OP. That’s why I hardly do fractals. I have 4 ascended pieces from laurels and guild commendations. So having the backpiece really isn’t enough motivation as it’s not a make or break issue in my wvw performance. So the only reasons I see to do fractals are 1) the skins, and 2) the fun.
I do think they are fun to do now and then, so I do. I also think the skins are fantastic, but I have heard so many horror stories about doing runs for months and never getting a weapon you can use, so no thanks. If ANet ever produces an update that makes weapon tickets drop instead of specific weapons, then I’ll dive in until I get one of those. Sorry about your misfortune, but thanks for sharing and saving others the same misery.

They could also use a variable indicating number of times you’ve visited and use that to fabricate your reward chance with their RNG.
I kill myself in fractals 48 because it’s the only content in game that is remotely challenging and requires remotely good coordination. Even then, I don’t think it’s difficult enough (no, bigger HP pools are not difficulty, that’s time gating), and it could use to be more dynamic, so I’m hoping they up the ante when they finally release 50+.
Fractal skins out the wazoo is just a perk of enjoying the content for me, so it’s not a grind at all.
