I think I'm missing something.
Yeah, if it wasn’t for some friends I made in the game I don’t think I’d be logging on much. A lot of things are very repetitive and there’s not much satisfaction given how easy the game is.
I guess its a good game for people that like to collect things. I like to do that too to a certain extent.
“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.
The dying and running repeatedly part I guess just depends who you group with… even in pugs its really rare for me to die, aside in like, Arah, and even then only a few times and only with less than stellar parties. I never had issue with people not helping downed players…
For the rest, what you dislike is what most people who like it find enjoyable about it: you do dungeons because you like them, not because you HAVE to do complete your character (well, it was the idea before ascended popped in…hopefully will be true again once they “complete their vision” or whatever that means…)
As to “not helping downed players,” I have rarely seen a downed player who was not either in the boss’s cleave zone, or in a nasty red circle. Helping such players makes it likely there will be two downed, which is not beneficial to the team. If this is happening to you when there is no risk to the reviver, that is poor team play, to be expected in a PuG.

That is a big fat lie, everybody enjoys that lol :P
On a more serious note, you have pretty much listed all there is to do at 80 : run dungeons, farm for a legendary or pvpv/ wvw. In all honestly if you are not enjoying any of that there isn’t a lot left for you to do. The key to enjoying a game once you reach endgame imo, is not what you are doing but who you are doing it with. Its more of a social thing. Even if they were to add a ton of more end content, in a months time you would be back to square one.
I would suggest finding a good guild. Everything becomes much more fun when you do it with people you like.
Please tell me an RPG that doesn’t have all of the problems you listed? You sound like you just don’t like RPGs.
