I guess i’ll start with some context. I was running a crucible of eternity, “front door” path. The run was pretty smooth, a full guild group. On the golem boss with multiple turrets, our guardian was focused and after repeated downs he eventually died. (Boss was still at 30% health.) Refusing to resurrect, he laid there for the duration of the boss fight, fully expecting to be resurrected at the end, I assume because he’s an “officer” in the guild. When I didn’t comply, using the logic “if he wants to lay there, let him.” He got angry, and sent me a message, telling me to watch my step, basically. (first screenshot) Here’s the tell on the next part of the dungeon. Playing a level 80 guardian myself, I was capable and willing to help educate him about his class. How tanky solo survivability is great, sure, though you can provide so much more with team utility. All seemed good for a little while, until abruptly as I was running down to the ledge next to the destroyer boss, I was kicked from the guild and the run, thus wasting my time and offering no dungeon tokens or reward. (second screenshot) This picture is of me standing outside of CoE, no longer a member of “sg” As the tell says, I don’t have a problem with being kicked from the guild, but do it after the dungeon run.. if you’re going to do it. Not right at the end.

Kinda sounds like that Guardian and the Guild he’s a part of is a bunch of jerks. I’m sorry you lost your chance at tokens but you just got an opportunity to avoid an obvious clique of tools who can’t play.

This is a much more curt version of what I originally wanted to say.

Do your server a favor and make this guy known for what he does, and his guild as well. People tend to listen when you say “THIS GUY NEVER WAYPOINT RESURRECTS AND HE KICKS PEOPLE BEFORE THEY FINISH DUNGEONS.”

I remember in sPvP, a guy said to me “ur build sucks u dont deserf to be a thief”
which prob’ly is true. But it po’ed me.
So even tho we were ahead, when it gave me the chance to switch teams, I did, killed the punk, and pulled out a win for my new team.

That was THE absolute best moment in GW2 for me. Again, not because he wasn’t right, or possibly god’s favorite kitty. But cuz he talked about my playstyle when I didn’t ask for his feedback.

So the O.P. —- prob’ly was correct that the other guy needs to L2P. And squeezing someone out of their tokens is low. Twice I’ve had dungeon runs where we got to the end and didn’t get anything from bugs, and that’s just infuriating (cuz ANet won’t do anything about it). But we can’t see the whole conversation, and whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

Being kicked from that guild was the best thing that could have happened to you.
If a hot headed idiot like that is allowed to be officer then it is not a good place to be, you should thank the guy for saving you the trouble of leaving.

I’m not sure if naming and shaming is allowed though? I’ve not read the forum rules in detail, might be a good idea to blur the names out just in case.

so you joined a guild then mouthed off to an officer and then proceeded to tell them basically “L2P” and now you think you’re some innocent victim? LOL

I’d have done the same thing, whether you soloers/guild hoppers like it or not people in guilds are officers for a reason and while you think the title is fluff to many guilds its not, officers are people who have proven themselves to the guild.

The title is fluff. I could make a Guild right now and make 3 people officers for no reason other than I want to. The Guardian in the screenshots it a rude player who doesn’t understand the game. Just because he’s in a Guild and he has officers doesn’t mean he has some sort of power. He’s just some windbag with windbag friends who can’t play the game.

That’s a utility, not actual power. The OP’s antagonist is just a bad player with a bad attitude and a bunch of friends who’re just as bad as he is. Guilds and Officers aren’t real positions of influence (high population and high influence Guilds notwithstanding).

While they were in the wrong, you were in the wrong as well. You don’t pick a fight with your guild during a dungeon. Save it for afterwards, and if you get kicked, then find a new place.

If you were antagonizing your team, it’s small wonder they decided to kick you immediately rather than wait until the dungeon was complete. So, next time you decide to pick a fight for any reason (even if you think you’re in the right), make sure of the timing for it. :o

I’m sorry, but if I run a dungeon and someone dies and then just sits there dead instead of waypointing I’m gonna say something about it. It’s one thing to be downed and fighting and asking for a resurrect; it’s another to be dead and not do anything and ask for a resurrect. Waypoint. It’s not hard.

My point exactly, if you’re down, you rez and run back, even more-so in a group like this, you’re an officer, lead by example.

To my comments on his build, I can elaborate for any guardians looking to run CoE in the future. Regardless of what your build is, the utility that aegis brings is awesome and should not be overlooked. While running full signet builds or greedy “I can solo everything” builds might be fun, living forever means nothing if your group is dead.

The boss that started the drama pretty much does one thing, he picks a target and shoots three telegraphed bolts of energy at it. THREE will down the target. With regular aegis and/or “RETREAT” you have the option of blocking multiple pulses, not only saving you, but your team-mates, furthermore, anyone with a disable (guardian with a shield) can interrupt the burst entirely by canceling it when the golem’s animation starts.

As for timing, I agree, a discussion post dungeon would have been preferable, but your facts are a little off. Timing is why I wrote this post in the first place, because I was kicked at the end of the dungeon before receiving the reward. Being kicked immediately is one thing, instead we ran another 25 minutes of dungeon before I was abruptly kicked.

I’d say it depends on the details. If he died at the beginning of the battle and then sat there for 10 minutes while the other members killed the boss, then I’d understand not wanting to res him. He didn’t help at all with the fight, so the least you could do is make him run from the waypoint.

But we don’t really have all the details here…

This is more of the type of reply I was expecting in this thread. And I’d have to agree with it. Maybe not the whole, “you’re both jerks” thing, because we still don’t have all the details, but I was wondering what place this had on gw2 discussion. Were you wanting us to discuss how mean your guild officer was or what? This probably could’ve been handled with a report or something if there was a serious problem of abuse here.

wow you really needed to make a thread for this? this is something you should be handling with these people in game rather than whining on the forums about it.

Hm…why did you join a guild with members like that anyways? But usually people do appreciate it if you try to work with them when it is their party. I stand on both sides as a party leader and party member. If I am the leader, I’d hope that people try to work together and give me a little more influence. And same goes for the other side, if I joined a party, I wouldn’t have cared what the people did as long as it doesn’t jeopordize the actually dungeon. As long as the boss can die, I’m good. But I’ll mention to the person dying that they probably should have waypointed to speed things up. Or maybe take the time to say “Dude, I can’t get to you, can you waypoint back?” or something. Communication is key, not dictation or expectation. People work well together if you try less complaining and show them what’s up. You beat the boss, without him/her, you definitely have all rights to tell them that they need to waypoint back next time.

Guild drama about some power tripping guild officer (yup, happens in every mmo and every day) So what was the point making a thread about this ?

The thread title could have just aswell read : “Someone was being a jerk to me!”

Assuming this story is unbiased: Lets get back to basics here, Dungeon rules 101:
If you see a downed player – res them fast.
If you see a defeated player – leave them.
Defeated players should ALWAYS res back at their waypoint unless it’s a very given circumstance, for example:
a.) There is no way for the member to return to the group
b.) The boss is extremely close to dead, and the team looks like it will pull through, thus it would be saving time to wait.
This person who sat there defeated (if he did) was a liability. Plain and simple. He got called out on it. Not only this but he died multiple times during the run, using (what the OP claims) to be a self centered build with no support for the party. That is what can be referred to as a liability in a dungeon circumstance. I don’t think that should be endorsed if that’s what happened.

I’ll also add though, that even if this guy is clearly in the wrong. Being kicked from the guild is the least of your worries. Move on, there’s a million more dungeon runs ahead.
