I saw the armor skin for AC and decided that I would love to have some of the pieces for my main. I’m fairly new to dungeons, I’ll admit that right up front. Before this weekend, I’d only run path 2 and story mode of the Catacombs, a failed attempt at CM and story mode for Arah. I had fun with all of the dungeons, even the failed attempt.
Now here’s where the title of the post comes into play:
I ran a couple of levels of the Fractals on Saturday and on the third level we got to the end boss fight and without warning the leader drops instance and we’re all booted instantly without a word. It was a bit frustrating as we had pretty good group synergy for a PUG and had just figured out the mechanic for beating the boss. No biggie, things happen, maybe the leader had an emergency, I don’t know, but it was what it was.
So, I figured I’d start the grind for my armor since I had plenty of time Sunday evening to do a couple of runs. I found a team and off we went to go path AC path 3. We finished in pretty good time. The rest of the team skipped a bunch, so, as not to be left going O.O as Kholer facemashed me, I followed along; which is fine as well. But, we got to the end, killed the big baddie and before I could click on Accept on the reward popup, we were all dumped from the dungeon as the Instance owner left. Yes, I got the rewards that popped up on the screen, but having never run the path before, was there a chest to loot? If there was, the instance owner left so quick the other four of us didn’t get a chance to loot it, or even look around and enjoy the ambiance of the place (lol).
After that, some of us stuck together to run the first path. We filled out the team, and off we went; making it all the way to the end even after we dropped a member. We wiped on the boss after the first attempt, but the leader decided it was taking to much time and left after a second attempt, booting us all and preventing us from filling out the team and getting any of the rewards for getting so far, or finishing it ourselves.
I’d hate for this to turn into a thread about horrible leaders or how bad the dungeons were (because I did enjoy them up until the teams got booted) because that wasn’t my goal here. My goal, was to illustrate that the latest iteration of how instance ownership is handled is not necessarily (imo) the best way to handle things. Of course, this is my opinion, and it’s jaded by some pretty crummy luck in pugs, but I can see it frustrating more people than just me if this is a common occurrence. I don’t have any other suggestion than to pass instance ownership to another party member in dungeons only.
tl;dr: Instance owners can boot entire groups without warning, wasting everyone’s time and effort if they have the notion. Please pass the instance ownership to another member of the group in dungeons.
