So raids have been out for a little while now and it seems a good portion of people are getting beyond VG and more.

One of my guilds I was doing it with can’t get beyond 50% on VG and basically have quit the game now.

My worries are that “Is it too late?” for me though. Meaning, I still want to give raids a go, and I know the mechanics of VG, but seeing as people now are moving beyond that point no one will pick me up since I’m now behind.

I know raids aren’t meant for pugging and I’ve seen less ads for pug groups. Which means I would need a guild who can do it. But would a guild let me when I’m now behind?

Yeah, it’s a pretty valid concern.

It resets every week. How are you behind? Granted there’s probably more VG raids going on toward the beginning of the week or early in the weekend and more Gorseval later in the week. People who win VG earlier in the week won’t want to do it again until after Monday night raid reset.

It’s not too late. Raids are reset weekly every monday, so right now most people are doing VG again. In fact, my guild members did VG again and took 1 random guy from lfg yesterday night.

That said, you still need to gear up and know your stuff. It sounds kinda bad since you’re stuck at 50% VG previously.

It does. If you want to pug into a group, you still have hope earlier in the week. As the more skilled groups will finish it soon and go on to the other bosses.

And if you’re guild couldnt get past 50% you’ll probably be better off. They were probably wearing Knight’s or Soldier gear and didn’t realize that isn’t good DPS. I pugged and beat Vale today, you can find good groups.

Well, that’s the thing. I’d prefer to play with a guild. Cause then I know that they can beat it. Just not the one I’m currently in. But I’m worried no one would invite me since I’ve never beat VG.

Depends on the guild, really. In my raiding guild we’re pretty fine with taking new players as long as they’re actually geared up (at least exotic, but with the correct runes) and know how to play aka know how to dodge and do the proper damage rotation. In fact, a couple of people in the guild did VG multiple times last week just so the other members will get more experience doing VG.

Then again we’re not full hardcore, we’re fine with not fully clearing the wing in 2 weeks time. So yeah, depends on the guild you want to join, you definitely don’t want to join the kind of guild that only run with the same people again and again since they wouldn’t be interested in expanding their roster.

The problem is it only takes 1-2 people to ruin a raid for 8-9 people. It’s not really a problem for groups that are willing to kick or not invite that 1-2 person. But if you are not willing to do that you will never beat the boss.

It really depend on the guild to be honest. My squad is betting Vale Guardian pretty easily now and we start to fill 1-2 spots with guildies that never killed him yet. My hope is to get more and more people good at the first boss so we have a bigger pool of people to replace if needed or to even create new squad together. But I guess that not all guild are like that.

I would say this is pretty much same situation as with dungeons and fractals. You either make your own “all welcome” parties, find people to help you or just lie about your experience.

I don’t want to sound rude.

But if you’re on the verge of giving up now…then yes it too late.

You are the one limiting yourself here, not the content.

Your experience is so profound that, except in your case, it’s backwards. x)

To OP, it’s been only two weeks (counting this week as the third). It’s not too late. For example, my casual guild only rolls out the teaching runs this weekend after clearing the first boss reliably multiple times. I expect pug teaching run will come in the near future. If and only if you don’t want to miss out on the weekly rewards, I’ve already seen some squads selling VG rewards for 100 g per slot per 10-min run (<incredibly lucrative PvE rewards there>)

It’s not too late, just look in LFG, or in the “Looking for…” category of these forums, or find a guild by other means.
I don’t think it will ever be the case that no one would want to take a new player. There will always be groups willing to take new players and also there will always be groups of mostly new players.

Just find a nice guild and you won’t have issues.

I worked with PUG groups and had a few bad runs. Then I had a really good run, though we did not kill the boss. But, the 10 of us decided to make a raid guild.

So, the very next day we kill Vale Guardian, and tomorrow we’ll try Gorseval. Its not too late at all, though I confess it may bit a bit harder to find a group now.

Edit: Watching a video and learning the fight would help.

Most guilds are looking for new members. Old members can get burned out or have commitments that can interfere with their raiding. However, note that as a new member you will be an unknown. Most guilds will place you either on a backup roster or in the ‘B’ group for raiding. Also your chances of getting a raid spot will likely be influenced by the class(es) you play, how well you can play them and what equipment they have.

As for ‘too late’… It’s never too late. Even late in the expansions for EQ and WoW raid guilds would pickup new members even though the process for gearing them and getting them all necessary attunments was a real pain.

Re: VG fight. Dying at 50% likely has nothing to do with raid damage. Far more likely the raid has not gotten positioning, seeker and breakbar control down so the raid gets wiped by either seekers, or (more likely) green circles. Which is perfectly normal and simply means people need to practice the fight more.
