As you get further into the Fractal Dungeon, agony gets stronger, making your progress harder. At the same time, increasing your agony resistance makes them easier again.

Does ANET want people to be completing harder or eaiser content in the long run ?

If they want people to complete harder parts of FOTM, why provide agony resistance ?

If they want FOTM to just keep getting easier, why have agony at all ?

the point is not if it’s harder/easier, the point is to have you grind longer. so you hit the limit difficulty wise but don’t have the drops yet? keep farming. skill doesn’t matter at that point.

It’s called content gating.

See, if they let you do anything right from the start, some people would finish everything in week and complain. They can’t have that.

So what they do, is they “gate” the content behind gear checks (agony) it’s realistically impossible to finish the later parts without specific items (agony resist gear). This forces you to run (grind) the early content over and over to “gear up” so that you can do the later dungeon where the rewards you really want are.

theoretically you can, since gw2 has no sub (and its main point is too keep you playing for a longer time).

but who would buy gems then, right? I’m still glad people are happy gw2 has no sub…
