Why are ppl always asking for those stupid insights? Is this really a rehearsal from gw1? Like domain of anguish and showing how much gems you have so you can participate? Is it really needed to have the title “The Eternal” to join a raid group aswell? God, ppl stop this now. I’ve killed VG/Gorseval/Sabetha more then 5 times each week, but i have 8 insights. Isn’t it about how experienced you are instead of pinging these stupid insights to show “oh wow, im a pro, i killed those and i got these insights”. Whats the future gonna be like? “You need 50 insights to join us for a raid”.

Anet, remove those insights and make it a rare drop instead of dropping every week from every boss. Or implement a chat code that allows us to ping “30 insights” or more to show ppl we are so called “experienced”.

Or stop grouping with Bads find a raid group to consistently raid with…. It’s not Anets fault people request their own requirements to join them, you don’t have to group with those people you have a choice.

You actually can ping a chat code that will link multiples. Guy in my guild did it the other night. Linked to a stack of 200. Not sure exactly what it is. But it shoots down the whole linking them.

That sucks you have had that experience. If you are on a NA server. Feel free to send me a message. We are always needing a couple people for our groups throughout the week.

I can see it both ways really. If you are limited on time, which for the most part we all are. Then you do want the best person in there. Though if you are never willing to give new people a shot then the overall pool of people that know the mechanics will never increase.

Our guild group is almost always one or two people short and we usually have to grab a pug or two. Our only requirements are that it is the class/type we are looking for(power or condi, or etc), that you are willing to use proper food and utility(this shows that you are committed to giving it your best shot in my mind) and that you are using close to the right build.

After a few runs, if we see them getting ported on VG constantly, or dying to eggs, or failing some other mechanic over and over and over. Then we will thank them for their time and find someone else. But we usually give them ample time to get up to speed.

You are right. The point of group gaming is to have fun. But fun is subjective and what is fun to the person just trying to get some experience on Vale Guardian isn’t necessarily the same as what is fun for the person who’s cleared the raid every week since it’s been out. In fact it’s usually not fun to have those two people in the same group.

Thus requirements are made, since there’s very little performance related requirements that can be made it usually comes down to class, gear or # of insights discrimination.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing because it prevents people who have very different views on “fun” from getting together and creating a toxic environment.

That’s how raids will be because they are going to be challenging for a large portion of the player base. There are plenty of groups out there who are looking to learn the raids and plenty that are clearing it fully and have no interest in teaching people how to do them.

That’s totally fine on both accounts but those two groups need to be able to find people to group with. Which is the real problem, it’s really hard to find like-minded groups of people to do this content.

I find it kind of shocking that an MMO in 2016 wouldn’t have either in-game tools or third party extensions for performance feedback.

I’m guessing that’s where guilds come in ultimately.

Thanks, I know several players that may use that code to ping several stacks of 250 to debunk this “player requirement.”

PuG players are always going to look for something they can use to try to exclude people that don’t meet their expectations. Sometimes, their criteria seem to make sense in terms of what they’re selecting for. Sometimes, not so much. The oft-used Achievement Point requirements for dungeon groups come to mind.

So, yes. Raids are gonna be like this — if you choose to PuG. The alternative of course would be to be social in an MMO and join a guild that does raids. That’s if you can find one. Good luck.

Raids are gonna be even more dead than dungeons, because it excludes much more players and the incentive for doing these isn’t worth enough, I get better loot by farming Fractal Lvl40 over and over again than trying to raid which can take hours because of group forming…

Please try and respect other players , its their group and they make the rules .

And please stop using the “it’s just for fun” excuse . Its lame and offensive for some people that get their share of “fun” by giving their best at something and succeeding.

The problem here is that people don’t want to respect others – and will try to get those others to participate in their own selfish fun whether or not those others want to or not.

Doing the raid efficiently is not fun for some players – so naturally the best course of action is to try to stop the people who are trying to play efficiently from being able to play how they enjoy the game.
Instead – we must trick or force them to have fun “our” way because we’re clearly in the right here. After all, we’re just trying to have fun, right?

Oh one additional note: “Do it under 30 seconds”. There are several people out there that do not split stacks fast due to being on a laptop or having a hand related injury. However, these people can still do raiding just fine because they fulfill a role that works for them. You don’t need to amazing reaction time to do raiding, as opposed to soloing Illadri.

Ok – I’ll explain. I know how chat codes work – I also know you have to copy them off something or type them in in order to ping them.

What I can make you do – is split your 30 (let’s say) insights into smaller stacks – a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 item stacks – with 3 left over.

Once you’ve done that I’ll have you ping a specific order – like ping the 3 stack, the 4 stack , the 7 stack, the 6 stack, the 3 stack again – etc – a random unique order of stacks that you must ping.
And you have to start pinging as soon as I finish giving you that specific sequence of pings you have to produce. You can’t take time in between to copy other chat codes.

The moment I hit enter and send you the sequence you have to start pinging it – if you have the items in your inventory that’s not a problem because you can simply open chat and hit ENTER, CONTROL+CLICK and then ENTER and the process will go fast.
IF you need to copy them off something it won’t go as fast or as smoothly because you’re trying to get this code, then copy the next one and so on.

If I give you a sequence long enough the time difference will add up and I’ll know you don’t actually have them.

Also – if you’re on a laptop and can’t split stacks fast chances are you’re not going to play well either – same goes for hand injury.
You haven’t raided much if you think you can have a situation where you can’t ping stuff fast enough but can play and perform fine in raids.

Idk if you made me ping and split my insights when I just keep them in the bank I’d probably just leave tbh but that’s just me, no judgement on how you do things.

So, you do not know how the chat codes work. Actually, all i need is change 2 characters in a code i have already pasted, which i can do in few seconds.

I do know how it works – like you said – it’ll take you a few seconds to change the numbers one a code you already have pasted – it’ll take you less to control and click your inventory if your chat is already open.
So over the course of let’s say 20 pings – if your method takes an extra second to manage the chat code and send it – you’ll be about 20 seconds slower than you should have been.
And for good measure I’ll kick you if you’re 10 seconds slower than I think you should be.

Sure – there’s a chance you might slip through if you’re incredibly good or set-up – but few will go to that extreme to sneak in a group.
Plus – you can always kick people after you notice they have no idea what to do and aren’t pulling their slack.
It’s not like you need a DPS meter to see who’s performing poorly in a raid.

The bottom line is this:

Why would you sneak into a group that you don’t meet the requirements of ?(even if you think those requirements are absurd).
Why would you want to trick people into taking you when it’s clear they don’t want you – why do you make people have to enforce these stricter and stricter inclusion criteria?

Why can’t you just respect the LFG – and if the LFGs the “elitists” make don’t suit you then why can’t you just make your own?

I was meaning a polite tone, no fails and quick delivery of what they asked for – if you’re selling the Raid I don’t think thats a bad thing to aspire to.

Again, no idea. Personally i would never try to get in a group where i am obviously not wanted. I’m not trying to argue against people’s right to set their requirements for LFG, you know – i’m merely voicing an opinion, that asking for pinging insights is just dumb.

Doesnt it take longer to split a stack of insights than it does to change a chat code?

You split them into the required stacks BEFORE the ping sequence is given – after you have you splits done the required ping sequence is given. Then you must ping the said split stacks in a certain order during a period of time that would be shorter than what it would take you to change chat codes.
