Now you can see why I stopped doing fractals. The rewards for the lower level fractals actually give better rewards than the higher level ones. The armor box being higher is not sufficient as the armor box is rarely berserkers.

The fractal tonic drop rate is a joke as many have known. Why do the drop rates make no sense? Well one reason is Arena Net got rid of their dungeon team. Dungeons never fully recovered since that happened. People then make dungeon updates without knowing all of the intricacies. Throwing away good talent will only hurt them in the long run. Nice Hercules video by the way. I really appreciate your research.

But to counter lower drop rates at higher levels, you are compensated with more gold…am I right? /end sarcasm

Please consider reworking FOTM rewards Anet. This is just abysmal.

I agree, when GW2 was released we were told every dungeon will have dungeon vendor with the dungeon-unique skins. They said nobody will have to grind and pray for a chance to get what he wants. I am deeply disappointed by their lack of integrity.
I no longer play fractals on the daily basis.

Reading this spreadsheet puts my rewards from 18 months of dedicated fractals play in context—I’ve gotten a few fractal weapon drops, but not a single one of the skins I actually want. It’s nice to see some hard data that shows I am not alone—makes me feel good about deciding to take an indefinite hiatus from fractals.

I play content because I think it’s fun, but rewards help me stick with content after the novelty has worn off. However, I could grind fractals for certain skins for years and never get any of them. That’s not a fun reward system, it’s simply disrespectful to the player’s time. To maintain a healthy attitude when playing the game, I would never play Fractals expecting to get one of these skins again (even though I really like them.)

When I also consider that the ascended box drop rates have been buffed more than once, it makes me shudder to imagine what the original drop rates were.

Even anet doesnt know if fractals is a " dungeon " or not.

There is no vender, it doesnt count towards dungeon achi/dailies/mothlies and yet, when someone else ( non-anet) says that since release their has been lots of dungeon paths added and list fractals as a example; anet agrees with them.

A fix for these terrible drop rates would be the use of the Pristine Relics which are currently useless.

Tonic for 250, weapon skin for 50, would make everyone happy and reward the grind with content specific skins/costmetics. Just food for thoughts Mr. Devs. #Hype

You could even allow a 100-250 pristine relic upgrade to your backpiece to change the color so you don’t have to make a new model. #Value

PS: A fix for the late lag spikes in fractals would be much appreciated, its getting really annoying.

My personal record is quite similar to KING’s. The skin drop rate is horrible I haven’t seen a skin drop for almost 2 months and we lost quite a lot of fractal players in the past few months. 40+ in LFG is empty most of the time…

Looking at this, I’m more likely to do 31-40 than 50 anymore. So much for the value of 85AR!

Droprates are a joke, and the fractal tonic is a lie. Anyone that has one in-game used a hex editor to get one.

Also, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we want to exchange our useless 5 silver rings for something useful… 10 rings = 1 ascended chest of choice? At this point I would even be happy if I could just salvage it for 1-3 ecto and 1 mithril ore.

Getting a fractal tonic is the same as winning the lottery.

From all the recorded runs we have here, we’re at around 3000 chests on level 41-50, and still no tonic. For a single player who’d want to get the tonic, that means 8 years and 3 months of doing the daily every single day, and still not getting it.

Seeing someone with the fractal tonic or multiple fractal skins should be an indication of the player dedication to fractals. At the moment it’s not. When I see someone with those, I only think: “This guy won the lottery”.

As for the skins, the droprates on them was much higher before (around 25-30% per daily, with multiples dailies a day possible with alts). Even like this, there’s not that many people who managed to get all the skins. With the way the droprates were lowered, getting them all is now out of the question for all new players. The “Fractal Master” collection achievement is also completely buggy. A friend of mine got it (it’s in the Flame and Frost section…), but other players with all the weapons didn’t get it…

All this gives us the sensation that fractals, and fractal rewards is clearly not a priority for Anet… Please prove us wrong !

That’s a little tricky, because you don’t want to let people just grind low level fractals and get ascended stuff (or, worse, fractal skins). But there was lots of discussion about this problem and possible solutions during the fractal CDI. So it’s clear that fixing fractal rewards is a very low priority for them.

The past few months all I do in this game is 1-2 fractal runs a day if I log in at all, and of those I usually try to jump into runs midway off of lfg to save effort. This past week I’ve gotten a raiders box(29), a sigil recipe(28), and a fractal axe(40) in consecutive days. A couple weeks ago I got a fractal longbow(28) and so far I’ve gotten 5 ascended armor boxes(3 healers, 2 raiders), all from 20s or 30s. I’m like level 42 or so and I wanted to get to 50 but the rng doesn’t really motivate me much to make the effort since lower levels give equal or better loot.

based on your data Fractal Tonic so hard to get that GW2 would be a dead game before required number of average runs is reached to obtain one for unlucky people. For example if a person required to average 1.5k runs to obtain tonic. It would take about 4 years for a unlucky person. Crazy stuff, I want the tonic that’s why I only run 50 but I never get my hopes up.

Without those exclusive rewards the place loses its appeal, fast. The only thing you can do with all those ascended rings and boot boxes is vendor them. Overall monetary rewards is less than that of normal dungeons.

If we could salvage ascended items it would be a nice step towards improving rewards, and the end reward needs to be increased, either by adding more drops to the completion chest or by increasing the gold amount.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to farm fractals when I saw those cool rewards, but now that I have seen the drop rate, I will inform my friends not to farm them because its a waste of time how long you have to farm to get something.. Me and my friends are not robot-grinders, so yea…

I would say there’s a good chance this research made the devs aware of a bug in the drop rate. Thank you KING, ZoS, et al. for raising awareness, and thanks devs for the fix!

The fix is real. Across two level 49 runs in the last week, my guild has gotten 4 fractal weapon drops. I finally got my fractal shield!

But being a Fractal player, knowing that Anet simply lies about almost every change in Fractals was just just understood to be a fact.

I don’t see why Anet would act like Fractal players are so stupid, since we’re the more likely section of players who are to record stats to verify what they are saying to us about drop rates. It just makes Anet look like amateurs.

If I’m reading the data correctly, it seems the skin rate was upped from 3% to about 7.1% on level 50 with over 100 runs post patch. This is still lower than the level 40 tier which is about 9.4%. Can anyone confirm I’m reading this correctly?

This gives us as accurate data as resetting the sheet completely.

Why should I care if you believe it.
Its just very rare and drops. Chance to win lottery is 1:136m in Germany but there are still people who do win.

It was the first tonic I saw drop in many 100s of fractal runs, but tbh I would delete it if I would find one. Tonics are a waste of bank space.

Collecting achievement points are also a waste of time because the rewards are bad

Things like this are really discouraging. I personally really enjoy grabbing a few guildies and chugging through fractals even though the rewards are disparaging. However, as time goes on, even for someone like myself who enjoys the content, it begins to grow stale and getting little in return makes it that much less appealing.

Along with many others, I have a large issue with the lack of usefulness of the ascended trinkets with stats you have no use for and will never have use for. Especially when there are so many easy and valid options (i.e. mystic forge dump, turn in to a vendor for something at least remotely useful but better than a measly 4 silvers, any of the other countless suggestions floating around the forums…) It is especially discouraging when there exists a vast number of potential solutions that all seem very reasonable.

I really wish fractals would be revisited because I really do enjoy them…its just over time with a string of bad luck even enjoyable content feels stale and unrewarding.

After a gruesome fotm 50, I’ve got a fractal skin and I’m happy

• It has been nothing since the last 30-ish number of fractals I’ve done.
• It’s a fractal skin
• It’s a unique never-obtained-before skin
• It’s the axe skin that I truly want for a long time
