Kick question
I am seeing a lot of threads about the kick option being abused. From what I’ve experienced in every mmo, kick is always abused. With that said, I’m wondering, when you are kicked for no reason from a dungeon, can you then que for another group and while waiting do other stuff ?
Example: Lets say you got kicked once you’ve reached the last stage of the dungeon for no reason at all other than, people are just being immature and looking to ruin your gaming experience. Can you then que for another group and farm the maps, or do mini events, or do some wvw while waiting on a new group ?
Just wondering, because I haven’t done any dungeons yet and I already know I will be kicked for no reason. It would be nice if I can keep gaming while waiting on a new group to que up.
There is no queue, you can instantly join a new group or open your own, whatever you prefer. Of course you can do whatever until you actually start, however most of the time the group leader already opened the dungeon (+ chose the path), so that you can start right away.
Its because of amount of time and effort you put in the dungeon just banished out of thin air. Its not too bad in dungeons like SE or TA where everything is straightforward, but when you are leading/teaching a group in arah and you get kicked at the last boss its pretty disappointing. It goes same for fractals as well
Ah okay. Well looks like there are pros and cons to getting kicked so I am already mentally prepared for the inevitable lol. Thanks for the replies, hopefully something will be done about the abuse of kicking for no reason.
Appreciate the quick response, thanks.

If you want to – kind of – prevent unjustified kicks, open instances on your own. If the leader gets kicked, the instance closes. Most people are intelligent enough not to kick you then and even if they do, they kitten themselves over.
No problem. Kicking problem isn’t that bad on low tier fractals/dungeons, but as people move on to higher difficulty content there are more abusers. I hated the “elitists” in this game before I tried out Arah, but once I started running frequently I now sympathize with some of them (although I don’t agree with them fully).
For fractals and Arah, I’d recommend you go with your friends/guildies to avoid being kicked or subjected to elitism.

Thanks. Too bad I don’t have any friends.
Try to find a guild that suits your own timezone and purpose. Most people in gw2 are very nice and I met some of the best people while recruiting. Nowadays guilds have dwindled down and try to focus on their own infrastructure but you can still try

This. And if you start lfg’ing in easier dungeons like ac, cof, ta etc. you will come across nice people you can add and suddenly, you have a full group of people you can play with and have fun. I met quite a few people like this.

Imma noob to dungeons so what are the exact names of the best dungeons and paths for a beginner that is using the lfg option ? No abbreviations.
Thanks.

Ascalonian Catacombs 1,2,3
Caudecus Manor 1,3 (Depends a bit imo)
Twilight Arbor up, forward
Sorrow’s Embrace 1,3
Citadel of Flame 1 (Easiest path in the whole game), 2
Crucible of Eternity 1,2,3 are a bit more difficult for beginners, Honor of the Waves is annoying as kitten and before you do Arah you should look up the paths/bosses (especially Giganticus Lupicus). All other paths not listed are rarely run in lfgs because they’re either more difficult, don’t give enough money for the time you spend in there or require more coordination

Thank you very much.

When PUGging, I try to follow these general guidelines:
1. Appear friendly. Most people don’t kick others for absolutely 0 reason. This might only mean a friendly Hello! at the start of a run. Either way, it can’t hurt to start as friendly.
2. If you’re Really new, don’t join an experienced run. Also, when you join a group, state that you’re new and ask if they mind you joining.
3. Don’t offer advice unless asked for it. I know, I know, some people could really use the help. And if they don’t want it? You’re gonna see the loading screen. Now, my corollary to that is, if they’ve die a couple of times, you might say, “May I offer a suggestion or two?” If they say no, then keep your mouth shut and let the die some more. Can’t say you didn’t offer.
4. Screenshot everyone’s account name. Hover over their portrait and screencap it. You never know who you might decide you just wanna block. It’ll improve your future gaming experience cause you’ll know who to avoid.
Anyways, these aren’t foolproof (The universe can always build a better fool.) But I think it’ll make your PUGging experience a bit better if you are unable to join a guild.
What Kirin says!
I’m in a guild (again), but since my guildies have a tendency to go into dungeons in WvW builds and wannabe trinity setups, I need my “fix” of damage-oriented groups every now and then, and get that in pugs. I have yet to be kicked once (ok, to be honest I did get kicked once, but that was when I had to unexpectedly afk when the group was forming (did warn them about it) due to kid aggro and took way longer than expected to get back).
I’m currently dreaming of one day learning to play my baby guardian well enough to show my guildies the joys of a dps oriented guardian … but who knows, maybe the’ll show me instead how the nomad staff guardian is actually superior for a group of dungeon noobs and old women .
Anyway, just be social and up-front if you’re not familiar with a path or strategy, and you shouldn’t have any problems. PUGs actually are mostly very social in this game if you avoid the obvious elitist lfg posts.
Social and non-social have very little to do with elitism.
don’t worry, you won’t get kick before you see the last boss, this is how the current system works.
