Bit of a story but yeah so I was Pugging TA Up, now I’m usually pretty okay with whatever suboptimal strategies pugs use but this one was pretty bad. First thing I notice is that at the Nightmare Vines our Elementalist isn’t using staff or daggers or even trying to do the optimal boon rotation, she’s just sitting there in water attunement auto attacking with a conjured hammer. But whatever I don’t say anything. Next thing was our Warrior wasn’t even using a Greatsword, just sitting there mostly auto attacking with an Axe….
After the Champion Vine goes down I politely tell the Warrior that Greatsword does best damage, I mean its not like an axe hit ever did 20k damage…. I don’t bother with the Elementalist because as the Guardian I could make up for the lack of boons and healing.
The spider mobs go down fairly easily thanks to my healing and damage, the Warrior and Ele nearly getting downed by trying to melee. Before Malrona I say that we’re going to range, just in case those two try to kill themselves in melee. But before I know it they charge in, have a guess… Trying to melee her. You’d think people would listen to someone with over 10,000 achievement points and the Bifrost (Moot and Flameseeker Prophecies too but I don’t need another weapon set in TA.)
Sure enough about halfway through the Elementalist gets downed in melee, almost defeated too. I hold aggro the whole time, easily avoiding all of her attacks by staying at ranged, something which I try to explain to them after we defeat her. Then all of a sudden bam, Caledon Forest loading screen. Like what the hell!? I practically carried the group that far and then when I try to help them with strategies and optimal builds I get kicked. Arena please fix this issue, it should be a majority vote, the Longbow Ranger and Dual Pistol Thief both knew how to do the encounter properly by staying at range, having two people who don’t shouldn’t be able to kick others!
and @OP, those people will never learn the true masterful ways of ranged combat, if ele was supposed to melee they would have a melee weapon obvs. And warrior not on GS? what a nub.
You had Wall of Reflect, no? You could have just used that when she went to spray poison. Also, achievement points and multiple legendary weapons don’t make you a skilled player.

I’m actually gonna say in technical terms, Malrona should be done in Melee. Whenever I fight Malrona I go into melee to get hit by her poison breath. It increases your damage by 400% or something like that till her next attack. I’ve hit 90K with Hundred Blades in there.
It’s not too hard to survive if you can keep track of her attacks. She starts every fight with the AoE spread, then breath, spread, breath, spread, etc. If you’re taking too much damage from the breath you just side step when she’s charging and save your dodge for her AoE
Should’ve Tome of Courage’d! And used that one revival signet, but not the active, for that passive healing power. Oh well, did you at least get some extra masterwork drops with your magic find gear?

This, legendary and AP means nothing, well, maybe APs, but legendaries, HAHAHA.
Indeed Malrona is an easy to melee boss, you just have to be a fast dodger with that poison aoe spit attack half second to late and you get hit.
But tht spider shines like a dogs cohones before every attack It’s not hard to see, also the attacks are not random she does it 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2 so you just dodge the “non poison crone” and that’s it.
But when you get poisoned by the frontal crone you have damage increase by 4x as long as you are poisoned.
i dont know how was the player that kicked you and sure kick some1 from dungeon is something i hate, but hammer ele is normal he use water skill when dont have the hammer up (keep him alive is your work), axe war i use gs only for 100b the rest us axe autoattack and vulne skill with axe-mace, melee malrona is the easyest and faster way but you need to be prepared no remove condition, no sigil from weap and wall+shield of avenger
