Kicked from Arah p3 group at Lupricus
Start taking screen shots of the folks you group with… and forward them all and the circumstances to the Exploit Department… if they get enough complaints and it’s consistently a small group responsible… might get justice. (You’ll never know about it, but it could happen.)
Let the Devs make policy. Could be a long wait though.
to be honest i kick people at lupi all the time, usually happens when we post “LFM Must be experienced” then we get there and notice someone obviously isn’t experienced. Maybe join some groups that say its their first time, i see them all the time on gw2lfg, get exp in those then join the big boys
Need to have more context. It could be the group’s fault or yours. Since kicking at lupi isn’t advantageous to anyone.
What they did isn’t necessarily wrong. As penguins said, we don’t have enough context. If you were graveyard zerging the whole time dragging the group down or not listening, I could see a justified kick so they could get someone else and move on.
You might not know this, Lupi isn’t the last boss, so they weren’t doing the ‘lets grief him and kick him before the last boss’.
It sounds to me like they were possibly impatient and/or they didn’t feel like you were pulling your weight, so they looked for someone else.

Be fair guys… If everyone is only looking for experience people….who will teach the news guys how to do Arah…? at this rate… the old guys get older…and the new guys will not know how to do it ? If its only 1 person, i believe its possible to teach him/her what to do, You guys didnt know how to do it at the start right ? Some one taught you.. or maybe you research…or your party previously didnt kick you out for you to try and learn right ?
So why not spread the knowledge ? I bring first timers myself

Your post is off topic.
The OP never claimed to be new to the dungeon. Also, nobody in this thread suggested kicking players for being new.

New people can start their own groups. Obal is also offering runs into Arah to teach new players daily. There are also plenty videos to show you the boss fights and run-throughs. On the other hand, I run into a lot of people who simply don’t have the reflex to dodge. you can’t teach people reflex and muscle memory. It’s not fair to the other 4 people to carry 1 person who can’t contribute.
Kinda difficult to evaluate this situation.
Today i was refused a p4 run mostly because i’m not an arah expert even though i’ve done p1/2/3 and got stuck at simin. I know most of the stuff about the dungeon but not all the climbable walls or all the mob packs that experts usually skip.
Regarding lupicus it’s another thing. The boss is a pain in the kitten more so when the ranged attack come in between aoe damage and you can’t perceive it.
I know why experts don’t want noobs there but i guess taking one in the group can’t hurt that much (if he follows instructions, otherwise just boot him).

This right here is the problem and is why people get kicked. The fact that you think lupi is a hard boss or that any boss in the game is a pain in the kitten means a lot of people wouldn’t want you in their group. If you said that you had a hard time on lupi any time during a run i would replace you, not because your an kitten but because i like playing with people up to my skill level.
Its like every sport/game out there, lets say your playing baseball.. Theres the A team, the B team and so on. In order for you to progress to the A team you have to go threw the B team process.
I bet your one of those people who join the gw2lfg posts that ask for “experienced” people, but your not. This is why people get kicked, so before people go crying over getting kicked out of groups make sure you join the right group, don’t join a group of experienced people if you yourself have problems on a dungeon or lupi for example, work at it and then join them.

This is pretty much my inspiration for my thread. I don’t really understand exp only groups. If they are so experienced than why are they not good enough themselves to take new players? Every time I joined an exp only group half the time half the team needs to zerg back to lupi and the other half I’m the only one left in there. I take 1-4 people with little or no experience and I’ve wiped once at lupi since I’ve made the thread. I get a better player base from doing that and the time I spent before posting for Arah noobs only on gw2lfg.com than I ever did joining random groups. People really need to start stepping up their game and learning some manners.

You answered your own question when you said “everytime i join an exp group” this is the problem, people who arn’t exp’d keep joining groups asking for exp’d players. Thus causing the group to fail and people getting kicked, that was the whole point of my post.
This game needs some kind of points system that is viewable by all players.
Ex: Se path 3 – 1 points
Se path 1 – 3 points
Se path 2 – 5 points
Once you get x number of points you move up a rank in that specific dungeon, like fame for pvp in gw1.
Just do what I do: Start the instance first. If they kick you, the instance dies. The time invested in doing Story Mode is worth it.
We need context. It could be the group being kitten and kicking you for no reason, or it could be that you just weren’t pulling your weight and weren’t good enough for lupi. I have kicked several people for that second reason many times.
It’s not uncommon for me to do arah and get to lupi and have someone who just constantly dies over and over. Die, res, run back, die again. If that’s you, and you’re in my group, you’re getting kicked.
There is a lot those kind of groups that will kick you without any reason. When i recruit its usualy LF1M, self invite on Pospani…. I dont care if someone is first timer or there 100 times, i just care on behaviour of player. If he start to act rude then i kick him with explanation that we want constructive run, not someone to be rude to others.
i usually kick players so i can charge gold after that, but it’s just me….
from my point of view kicking players from dungeon before last boss is the ultimate troll i can think of
p.s. don’t ban ppl without solid proof, thanks, also from what i know kicking ppl is part of the game ???
p.p.s. the only fault here is a-net for not thinking for these kind of practical jokes/trolling

While I admit that playing with equally skilled people is an interesting idea I seriously doubt it will ever happen. That said, at some point you just have to accept that you are carrying people there. And then best you can do is give them advice.
And really, if one bad person is a problem in Lupicus, you sure you shouldn’t just boot yourself?

Fractal scaling is a good step towards it. Pitting people of relative experience in the same group.

I actually prefer those kind of people, they don’t decrease my dps by half like mage-wannabe guardians and musketeers warriors do. I’d rather kick they guy who wants to glitch/exploits all bosses and is dungeon master than first time newbie whom I can persuade to use smart and efficient tactics.

As long as pugs will ask for guardians to carry them, that’s just fruitless.

I actualy dislike kicking people, my group is usualy from guild, before i pug anyone i always ask in guild. Even if i pug few people and they r there for first time i would never kick them without good reason (like inkittening or being rude to others). But few things are anoying like:
- Players ignoring others while in downed state
- Warriors using rifle as main weapon
- Thief as shortbow as main weapon
- Mesmers who randomly spamming feedback and when u actualy need one its on CD
- People who exploits or bug bosses even if they are easy enough
- Drama queens who start to QQ after first person die
- Wanna be “elitist” rude person who insult others on their death etc etc etc
We all can die from somethign stupid, it happenes. Ill rather have good laugh with them then to laugh at them.
You cannot be held responsible for failing at Giganticus. The only player who has the right to open its mouth is the one that is tanking Giganticus while the other 4 come back (and if you fail, that player is obviously not a part of your group).

I really like how you assume i’m the problem just because i admit i’m not experienced…
All the times i’ve been to arah i beat lupi, so when i say he’s pain in the kitten i’m just stating that it’s an hard boss and nothing else. I like him this way, hard on 1st timers but even to them if they stop and think they should be able to make it (i did it like that for most paths since most of my teams were first timers).
So far lupi has a few problems:
-aoe damage area is bigger than the red circles
-ranged attack can be cloaked by the aoe making it hard to move away
-grubs target minions and pets (i hate this 1 since i play necro. Phase 1 is mostly spam #1 skill on lupi)
-sometimes locks down on a target and won’t change until it’s dead
Regarding the groups I join:
1) I’ll never join an “expert” only group until i think i won’t slow down the group
2) whenever i join an arah (or any other dungeon) group i’ll pm first stating my status about the dungeon/path (sometimes i don’t get an answer but, the expert group that took me on their p3 said it took them like 5+min than usual to complete since they had to explain me where to run beforehand)
What i meant with my post before is that i understand why people won’t let first timers on expert groups. Lupi can be near impossible if you don’t know what to do and some deserve to get kicked if it’s clear that they can’t handle.
But the rest of the dungeon is fairly easy to explain as you go by. Just state that you’re running the next part or the boss specific strategy (like using the tranquilizer guns to stop enrage or stepping on the elemental spawn spot to make the boss appear).
Unless people won’t listen to your instruction it should all go smooth and you’ wont take than much more time just because of 1 person doesn’t know the “speedclear way”.

I find it funny that people who see themselves as being reall good players feel the need to kick 1 person because they arent up to their self acclaimed awsome gaming skill status.
I mean really, if you guys were that good then surely you can carry one nub, heck even two nubs if youre really good.
I see it as an extra challange if some puggy is plain awful, it means I have to play even better for the run to finish.
Another thing I have found is that the people that think they are the best usually rage when runs arent perfect, and then they often leave, and then a replacement is found and the run becomes so much smoother.
The difference between an elitist and a good gamer is that the good gamer tries his best to finish and works extra hard if needed and actually enjoyes the extra challange if in a subpar group, while the elitist is always subpar and thus always tries to be matched with skilled people so he himself can be carried and when things dont go perfectly he rages and leaves, pointing fingers at everyone else.
I’m sure someone will argue that its faster with no nubs. Well, if you’re stressed for time then dont be gaming in the first place, it is a setting to waste time and alot of it.
And really, if one bad person is a problem in Lupicus, you sure you shouldn’t just boot yourself?
You gonna feel the same way after reckless dodge is gone?
Perhaps. Regardless of Reckless Dodge it should be quite easy with 4 guys.
Anyways, I have already few ideas and eagerly waiting for next patch. Robert is not going to win this fight.

I really don’t fell that Lupi is a hard boss… It’s a boss where you need at least 4 ppl that know what they are doing and can dodge/skip the aoe of Phase 2.
Thou I get several parties that are just 3 downs when phase 2 starts and that’s the major reason ppl want Exp in Arah Runs.
Also, if anet fix Lupi since It’s not enough you be inside the arena to avoid the reset (hell! 2 days ago I was in a run when we where 4 inside and he resets anyway after one player get killed and travel to wp), everything will be less stressfull.
I hate the kicking, that is something that I don’t support or even like… I rather get out of the dungeon and start over, if that is the case then kick someone that already have all the hard work to get there.
Rage quits are really stupid and Rage kicks is even worst then that.
That said, is not my place to say if this was ok or not (with so little info), just be carefull in the next pug you get into making sure that everyone are in the same tune.
And really, if one bad person is a problem in Lupicus, you sure you shouldn’t just boot yourself?

You can solo lupi without reckless, he just won’t be able to grab full offensive utility skills.
they don’t even punish people for excessively exploiting and cheating, what in the world makes you think you can ever get anyone punished for kicking you from a group ?! … never gonna happen

you can’t solo him without exploiting the grubs spawned in phase one -.- any one ever soloing him should just have gotten banned since its impossible to do it without exploiting.
gogo fight lupi with 20+ stacks of grub -.- roughly thats 1 shot no matter what attack he hit you with and it would take you 1h to kill him even if he didnt attack and just stood there.

HAHAHAHA, okay. Let’s be serious now. Did you miss like 2-3 answers that dodging is NOT an exploit. Get it through your head. Also, 1hr? He gets 2x more defense with 25 stacks.

I think I already answered you once about avoiding the grub. I’ll try again and be even more clear. Lupicus has 3 well indicated moves in p1, one of which “plants” a grub in his target. If you dodge when he does the grub move and you are the target of it, you get “avoid” message which means you dodged the skill and no grub will spawn. If you consider that exploiting i assume you also put all the stamina usage under the same line.

i am sry if i should have misunderstood this but from my understanding the grub skill was suppose to be unaviodable(primary to avoid people solo/duo it. simply as a stop mechanic).
thereby it would be exploiting if you avioded this.
if i am wrong with this i appologiese for my misinformation.

If anet would want to put such mechanics, they just need to create an encounter where you need 4-5 people. Legendary Shoggroth is such an example. The only unavoidable move with simple dodge is necrid trap. Now, how you managed to think that dodging = exploiting and grub = anti solo skill is just beyond my comprehension.
I did well all instance, said nothing wrong, did nothing wrong.
At Lupricus we wipe first time, I am 2nd last to go down ( only went down one other time in fight), team kept getting downed. We had him below 1/4.
2nd time, no complaints, we wipe again early cause ranger got smacked at the very beginning of phase 2. I am 3rd to go down, did nothing wrong.
Run all the way back, ress guardian in our group then bam. Kick.
Only remember name of 2 guys. One does not reply at all. One replies after few min saying stuff like “Can’t report, good luck”.
My only assumption is they knew each other and obviously had some uber pro friend who wanted in.
The guy also did not say experience required on recruit, he just spammed on the map.
It was my first time doing Lupricus and I was surviving + dishing out more dmg than at least 2 others in the group.
I was cheated. They were just greedy and mean.
Also up to Lupricus we had no issues at all, and I didn’t say anything to offend anyone. In fact I was extra nice.
Just ridiculous…
Sounds to me all these elitest or high lvl exotic wearer’s forgot where they started. Kinda sad to see this MMO turning out to be like WoW or Rift. Really sad…

Don’t blame the game turning out like that. Blame the users and that kitten gaming attitude.
I achieved dungeon master and it wasn’t because I was the greatest in the game. It was because I researched what I was going to do before I did it. There are more than enough youtube videos out to help you with problem areas and what to expect.
Make sure you tell the party at the Start hey I’m new here any tips along the way to make this easier would be great. You will find more times than not people are willing to work with you. If they are going to kick you they would do it then most times.
If its the first time you are doing any path don’t try to join a speed run group. You are just asking to get kicked.
Some people take games seriously even though you shouldn’t so go into every pub group thinking everyone is hardcore. This means don’t ridicule their play style and if you do try to give some pointers use some tact. Don’t just say hey man you suck. I generally ask what build they are using then after they answer then I reply with oh nice, I heard this build was pretty useful as well have you tried it yet? Then after a few failed attempts sometimes they will ask… hey about that build you were talking about how does that work?
I’ve suffered through some horrible groups but what it boils down to is some basic research. Know your enemy and their weakness.
