So it seems this bug is confirmed a month ago according to the time stamp on this dev’s post, have there been any fix? Just got this happens yesterday. Me and a guildie did a merge, for some reason it split us and put me in a party of 4 others while kick my guildie out of the instance :/

I just went to switch toons in dungeon and it seems like i was the leader, so everyone was kicked…
I was doing that so i can level up faster my other character, because its hard to enter in dungeon when you are low level…

Groupe Merging is still working, i just got kicked out of my path 4 i was selling and some idiot merged the grps! didnt you wanted to fix this for a few days?
Well it hasnt worked!
i sold it, 3 spots, everyone lost his money..
How can you create such thing who the hell want to seriously merge grps?

btw: i probably got reported for scamming im pretty sure noone mentioned that we got merged, so if you bann me, well thats pretty … lets call it “evil” , cause grp merging happens all the time and simply causes suffering (mental ofc) and you created it

They should rename the merge button to “Grief”.

Even if it did not kick from dungeons (now?), I got merged repeatedly by people who cannot read my description until I was suppressed while trying to form my team the other night. The whole merge thing should just be removed.

It does. I got kicked from my instance because i got merged with a 4man group already in TA.

Kicking instance owner and merging parties both still cause everyone to be kicked out of the instance.

This makes me laugh because it reminds me of the quote from the dev that basically said they don’t think player chosen combo field priority is something they’ll do because most players don’t know and won’t use it.

(Summary, majority of players are not smart enough to know the mechanics of the game so theres no reason to create a “complicated” code for something only 1% of the people would use)

Just disable merging and flag anyone who is an instance owner as such and make them be unable to be kicked (there will be no kicking option when right-clicking their portrait). The instance can still be destroyed by having the instance owner leave the party. I don’t think this will break any ingame/server infrastructure and there should already be some way to identify istance owners in the game since it knows when to destroy instances.

And here i thought a dev finally answered on this subject..

Yep.. really I see it like this. The majority of the community needs to be babysit like a bunch of children. Spare no expense, wrap towels around door handles, soft rubber around corners of walls, fences around stairways. They are completely incapable of actually doing the right thing. Unfortunately we all have to bear the consequences of this and now when there are actual meaningful changes that could be made anet uses this as an excuse.

I just saw a post saying that it isn’t the armor/trinkets that are the problem but the fact that people use food, banners, skill, support, etc is the actual problem with power creep. So, the issue is people are playing the game too well..

When you have a group of 4, the only way i think to kill the instance is if someone from your group merges with another party. So if you need a 5th player in a last boss tell your party to NOT MERGE GROUPS!

my party was 100% pre-made and on voice comms, i assure you this was not the case. someone merged onto my party and disbanded it.

Yeah someone can join and click merge from either party. So either the guy who joined your party clicked merge or someone from another party clicked merge with your group which added someone into your party and destroyed the instance.

It really isnt a merge feature. Its a plain and simple grief button. Theres no other use for it.

Well you can be merged with one spot open. Just found out. The dev said the one who does the merging sacrifices his/her own instance but it was not the case. My totally legit p3 sell was killed but the other guy’s swimway p2 was up and going. Yay.

Yeah it’s pretty crap. I was in the middle of selling a legit p1 when all of a sudden i got pushed out of the instance (i was instance owner). It’s pretty discouraging and almost makes running pretty frustrating.

I sell Arah p1+2 for long and got merged 3 times in my whole selling that destroyed my instance and 3 buyers already paid me and I had to resend the gold back because of some jelly white knight kitten likes to destroy sellers or just joining without reading and starting clicking whatever they can thinking they can get anything.
I’m really furious with the merge button. Please remove make sure whenever I post whoever joins or me will never have the option to click Join/Merge on other posts.
I get nervous at selling p1, because usually people merged me in that path. And the first time I was able to solo p1 and wanted to sell it 2 dudes joined and kicked and then my instance was destroyed. I was so angry that I spent 2 hours on figuring out myself how to solo this path and gained nothing but waste of time.

It’s pathetic all that is happening is more scammers are showing up while the legit sellers get screwed over. The merge button has caused so many problems and helps almost nothing.

I created an instance of fractals. Someone merged with my party and then, after failing in doing the first phase of swamp one time, the leader of the other party kicked me and they were still inside. So i got kicked of my own instance and they’re still inside?

Are you going to fix this any time soon? It’s been more than half a year… Please, this is EXTREMELEY annoying

Well, the guy that was with me before the other party decided to merge with us was kicked from the party and i had to reinvite him, so it’s almost the same bug. At least it has the same effects, not having any control of the party you created.

No its not the same. You were simply griefed by people kicking the instance host and destroying the instance. The previous bug was people using the merge feature to destroy instances without initiating a vote kick (straight from the lfg tool, they didnt need to be in your party). This could also be done even if both merged parties had a more than 5 players total.
