Lava Shaman needs to be toned down
You might not have had enough dps with three guards. But yeah, this fight gets pretty hard.
Might not have the right strategy. Try again.
It is not really about dps. About survivability and then aoe/dps on spawn/adds.
Did it with 1 guard, 2 eles, ranger, and Mesmer.
If the patch notes suggest anything, it’s that scale 30+ fractals are meant to be some of the most hardcore content in the game. People here post videos of their groups successfully completing fractals such as the grawl one at 40+, 45+, 50+, and so on.
Heck even as look at this forum page there’s a a thread with youtube vids of 50+ fractals done by a group with 3x ele’s.
A few weeks ago I noticed 40+ vids with a 2x ranger group.
Point being, if you’re going to attempt high scale fractals, maybe you should be more willing to do research and respec appropriately before calling for nerfs. Given that other groups have obviously gone MUCH further with supposedly weaker profession setups, you should have many viable alternatives available to you and your guild for scale 32.
Your guardians need to figure out who the primary aggro magnet will be (generally whoever has the highest armor—not toughness nor vitality). That person cannot be near downed people, and is an immediate priority if he goes downed. If he can’t get up right away, then your secondary aggro magnet needs to assume the role temporarily.
Also, were your guardians running wall and shield of the avenger? Just one is usually not enough here. Also using shield5 when the utility skills are on cooldown can sometimes work wonders, especially if working to res someone.
Other thing probably worth mentioning (not necessarily to OP) is that when the boss is near 25/50/75% HP, and anyone is down/defeated/low health/critical skills on cooldown, damage must stop until those issues are no longer issues.
to be faceroll at the high levels, because it
needs to be accessible to the casuals and bads.
I don’t mind difficulty as long as rewards scale with difficulty, but it doesn.‘t Shaman won’t give better reward even though its harder to kill nor does cliffside first boss give anything for a 3+ min. fight.
If all 3 of your guardians were not running “Shield of the Avenger” (which blocks all immobol on elementals or absorbs agony) and “Wall of Reflection” (reflects an already easy to dodge agony attack) you shouldn’t play with all 3 since:
x3 Shield of the Avenger = infinite on 20s duration per shield (x3= 60s) with 60 overall cooldown
x3 Wall of Reflection = 10 secs of walls with 40 sec cooldown (30s total with 10s downtime)
Sounds like a case of bad guardians or they are running heal spec with no dmg.
If you have 3 guardians then your group just fails.
I can see it being hard without guardians because wall of reflection and spirit shield are OP in this fight, but there is no reason you should find this hard with 100% uptime on projectiles and the fact that this fight is 100% projectile based if you stay at ranged.
I got this twice last night getting progression from 32 – 35 and no one died either time in a group with 2 guardians.
Like it literally baffles my mind how you could fail with 3 guardians, were they just bad and don’t know what wall of reflection and spirit shield does?
I’m going to assume everyone died when he went into his shield since there’s now way a group at 30 should be dieing to anything outside of that. With 3 guards just wall of reflection on the boss while jumping in with GS to burn down his shield fast, near the end, cast spirit shield, roll out to dodge his ground targeted burst while he’s berserked, and use GS 5 to pull all the lava elementals into your spirit shield and laugh when nothing does damage to you. Then repeat at 50% and 25%.

Ever thought the other fractals might be too easy? I think grawl is just fine, but some other fractals way too easy.
