Legendary armor and backpack can take damage and get broken.

Why? This “mechanic” was meant for new players to learn when they are doing something wrong. Why does it apply to legendary items?

armor damage/broken is a gold sink. If anet does not add a gold sink here, anet have to add it somewhere else

What? That was changed years ago. You don’t have to pay any piece of copper to repair your armor & weapons.

Took me 3 runs of the dungeon to get the bug.

Actually this mechanic was designed as:

- a gold sink (which was changed a long while back)
- a way to prevent people suicide running content (something which was fixed and designed around soon after the game launched and is less of an issue today)

It never had to do with new players supposed to learn anything, though I will agree the system needs a redesign or be removed gamewide. This change should not be legendary armor exclusive though.

Actually, Anet removed the cost because waypointing and running to find an anvil was considered punishment enough, given that, the repair mechanism will probably not be removed from game. Exotic or Legendary, repair and finding that anvil is punishment for dying too often. That is not gear exclusive.

Legendary armor/weapons should not be an exception.

I think it’s meant to punish people for dying, regardless of whether new or veteran.

In my opinion, the logical extension of the OP’s argument is that veterans should be punished more harshly for dying, because they haven’t learned their lessons yet.

Consequently, I think it’s fine that L-armor can break. On the other hand, I can see some logic in the idea that L-armor has special protections and shouldn’t be affected, so I also wouldn’t mind if ANet changed this. (Although, I don’t think it’s a good use of their limited resources.)

tl;dr mechanic is fine as it is.
