I have been doing research on the AR requirements for a level 50 fractal. I have found most people state a requirement of +70.

My questions:

I know the guide for other fractal levels are generally +10 the level (Level 40 should be 50 AR). Why is level 50 different?

What is the preferred AR level for 50? 75? 80? higher?

It’s not fractal 50 that is different. It’s the rule level +10 that is just wrong.

The real rule is that you need 10 AR at level 10 and then each 10 level you need to add +15AR.

10-19 : 10 AR
20-29 : 10 + 15 = 25AR
30-39 : 25 + 15 = 40AR
40-49 : 40 + 15 = 55AR
50 : 55 + 15 = 70AR

If anet keep that system, that mean that level 100 will need 145 AR

At lvl 40 you should have 55 AR to negate agony dmg. With 50 AR you’d still take 6% per agony tick.

1-9: 0 AR
10-19: 10 AR
20-29: 25 AR
30-39: 40 AR
40-49: 55 AR
50: 70 AR

Or to generalize it based on agony tiers (of which there are 6, including tier 0), we have some formulas:

F(Tier) = Agony Resist Needed

Tier 0 formula: F(Tier) = 0
Tier 1 through 5 formula: F(Tier) = 10 + 15*(Tier-2)

FotM 40 needs 55 AR to basically ignore the instability.
FotM 50 needs 70 AR to basically ignore the instability.

Can you survive with 50 and 65 AR respectively? Sure but you’ll need to heal a lot more often.
