play how you want
Its funny and ironic, you using this as some kind of insult or sarcastic joke for others.
The funny thing is that the joke really is on you if you don’t play like you want to. Funy and sad.
I wonder how long it took you to come up with that.

Just because you’re allowed to play how you want doesn’t mean I have to play how you want by letting you be in my party.
you need more straw on your strawman’s head.
Who told you it is YOUR party? is his party for all i care too. I’ve seen entitled kids but man you just broke a record.

2 seconds. It’s common sense. Shame it doesn’t auto trigger in you.
It’s a freekin video game not a work, there is no other way to play it if its not how you have fun.

The instance owner is the one who’s party it is. Just to answer your question, though I’m sure you intended it to be rhetorical. That’s the funny thing about when people with an overestimated sense of their own cleverness ask a rhetorical question: it’s likely to get answered and make them feel bad and/or get defensive.

So whoever steps in first owns the party? That’s a whole new level of entitlement.

No, it’s not. If you start a party and ask for 80’s only, that’s your right. If a non-80 joins your party, you have every right to kick them. It’s not because he just joined the party, all of a sudden he/she gets the right to debate the merits of your party description.
If you join a party, you live up to their requirements. If I see a party description that says “Arah p3 lf2M Cleric’s gear and ranged weapons only”, I will see that this is not a party for me and not join. I’m not going to jump in, start melee’ing everything in zerker gear, only to get kicked and I’m most certainly not going to come on the forums to whine about it, because it’s my own fault. If I don’t live up to the expectations a party I join puts up, I have to deal with the consequences.
This is not a hard concept.

“Play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to play”…….as long as the way you want to play is max level only for level 35 content!
You are welcome to play how you want in your own time, not when you waste the time of other people. They wanted 80’s only, it’s their party.. Deal with it.
It’s like going to a formal dinner and dressing up in a Halloween costume or bare down to your underwear because you dress the way you want. It’s not appropriate.

It boggles my mind how many people come to this forum and want everyone to play their way, and people who don’t agree with them get called elitist. You play how you want to play in your party, but stop expecting to join other parties and expecting to tell them how to play. And stop coming to the forum raging that everyone doesn’t play the way you want.

Bright, that makes sense but it is not how the discussion developed in this thread. All out of nowhere someone said: “you can’t play how you want in my party”. What? As far as I know this game has no party leader system and if there was no pre-party agreement like the one you stated, I don’t see why anyone would take ownership and decide how the rest should play.
Using your own build and having a lay back moment of fun is a feature that comes with pugging that many players enjoy. Also, it is good practice for players who are experimenting with builds and don’t have a static 5 man group to do it. So if there is no message specifying what is being looked for in the LFG tool, I don’t see why anyone should kitten about someone’s build or play stile.

This thread started with the OP complaining that some parties demand lvl 80’s only. That is exactly what I’m talking about.
The things that Player Character and others in this thread are talking about are people that join parties without reading/respecting the descriptions and then getting their panties in a bunch when they get kicked.
This is not a discussion about parties of ‘anything goes’ nor are we saying that because someone joins my party they have to do everything I say, like some tyrant, but they should respect the requirements put up in the party description.
Now, if it’s a party saying ‘glf2m p3’, and they kick you for not being berserker, or being lvl80, I understand that it’s frustrating, but it’s still their right to do so. They aren’t completely correct in their behavior, because it’s their responsibility to make a decent party description, but it’s also their right to kick anyone for any reason they see fit, as long as it’s not griefing.

I did not take this as the level restriction set on the LFG message but more on a play stile or build difference (to what the famous post “play how toy want to” refers to). That is why I said nobody owns a party or it is entitled enough to actually dictate how the rest should play, unless it was previously specified on the party description.
If it was related to the topic, about being 80 or not, then I retract my message from that quote (and Player Character as target) but not the idea.
He was making a joke……
But it was relevant to the thread. People come to these forums complaining about getting kicked when they refused to meet the party descriptions requirements. They play how they want and expect every group they join to accept that and let them play with them.

And here I was thinking that If I took the time to form a party, advertise it and add people, filter out the bads and enter the dungeon, that it was my party and I had the right to kick people who wasted my time.
Such audacity I had, such audacity.

Apparently I had no right to ask 3 people to leave my arah p2 instance after soloing and trying to sell. They didnt read the post and joined (pretty sure they were 3 friends aswell so im not sure why they didnt start their own group lol). When i asked them to leave, they said “no, why dont you leave?”. I was kind of lost for words at that moment.

Ah, elitist Spoj. You really should know by now that it is our patriotic duty as berserker players to give runs to the pug people for free. And if we don’t like that, then we are clearly forcing our ideals upon them and threatening their ‘I play how I want’ creed. We must respect the GW2 culture and move to preserve it. I started by making a cleric’s geared staff necro with minions utilities and mistfire wolf elite. What have you done lately?
|-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-|
My sentinels set is ready and waiting. Dont worry, I am prepared to preserve the gw2 culture!
I fully support players being kicked from groups when they ignored/missed/didnt read the requirements stated in the lfg. If the lfg poster stated 80 and you come inside with your under 80 Im not hesitating to push the kick button. Everyone needs the right to make the type of party of their choice without other players griefing it.
and Im one of those players that will happily go with under 80…just did one last night with four under 80… i was on my 80 ele…..brutal brutal run but they made it

You should ask me for a help. I love kicking people.
Long live kicking bads!
I had an on demand kicker. All was well in the end.
Saying that you have the right to play how you want in ANY situation means that you feel your ‘right’ should be allowed to infringe on the exact same ‘right’ of anybody you party with allowing you to intentionally force your way into a party that doesn’t want you. If I invite you into my HOUSE and said “Please take your shoes off right inside the door” and you said “F-dat, I walk how I want to” that doesn’t make ME the entitled elitist…

I already said, that if you specifically express your desires for companionship while dungeoning in the LFG tool, players should respect that and not join if they have other ways of doing things.
Now, expecting that by default everyone should play in a certain way and are obligated to speak up if they do it different is stupid. Not elitist kid anymore but plain stupid.
