I understand that sometimes people are farming dungeon currency or gold – but why does everyone ALWAYS skip everything?
Magic find works on loot from kills only, yet we run by all this possible loot – you could be missing out on your legendary pre’s!! When you mention something you get “this is easier/faster” meanwhile someone falls behind and we stand around for 10 minutes waiting for them to trek through the 30 angry npc’s we just ran by – then finally someone goes to help them. THEN if for some odd reason we wipe on the boss we just ran to – the cycle starts all over again. How is this faster or easier? Just kill everything!
NOW granted sometimes you get a very experienced group and things go off without a hitch – BUT here’s my point:
I did not gear out my toon and salvage and scrimp to raise my Magic Find just to waste it running by mobs.
Please join me in the LFG Full Clear Revolution! Bring MF Food and Banners to hand out if you want to! Make an event of it in Open World – get some new Guild recruits out of it! Take some time to help people who are intimidated by these “LEVEL 80 EXPERIENCED ONLY” LFG posts and help them through – use it to get your Dungeon Master Achievement!
Encourage our fellow dungeon goers to make the most of it!
This sounds like just the guild for me. My wallet is feeling a little bloated lately from all the dungeons I chain in such a short time. If I was able to stem the flow of wealth a little bit I might start feeling like regular common folk again!
It would be really more efficient to :
- rush dungeons (like they are right now most of the time)
- with the remaining time, do a real event with a lot of mobs / kills, there only the MF will fully apply
Killing a few additionnal mobs in a dungeon won’t make a big difference for MF (of course you can have a good loot on a dungeon’s mob, but you’ll have way more chances to have that happening in an event with a lot of mobs).
Unless there is some increased chance of rare or exotic drops … why wouldn’t you just skip trash in dungeons and spend that saved time farming trash in open world Orr? Less risk, it’s on your pace, etc… I don’t see a compelling reason to clear any dungeon ever.
I don’t care how much damage I do – that’s not my role. Honestly the fact that I do any damage at all is just a bonus. Let the other 4 people damage while I keep them cleansed, rez them, buff them and use whatever I can to make the fight easier be it a projectile reflect or stability.

the whole dungeons is a waste,.. they could’ve saved a lot of money if they just did an empty room with a boss… but well… it is what it is and all that effort can be completed by pressing the R key and making some coffee.

Don’t listen to those that don’t like it. It seems like if anyone plays different than them they feel threatened by something… I don’t know what it can be.
Folks here aren’t threatened— it’s just that threads like this come up, like clockwork, once every two weeks or so. Go ahead and kill all mobs! We won’t, and literally cannot, stop you. Advertise your groups on LFG as “kill all mobs” and like minded people will join you, even! We do not think you will get anything which makes it worthwhile, so we will not. That’s all.
You know people already tried this when Robert (RIP in peace) suggested it and it failed miserably. The people that post here are here to find the best strategy, builds, group, etc to clear stuff as fast and as efficient as possible.
But sure, have fun taking 5-10x as long in dungeons. Nobody is stopping you.

I don’t have an ego. If I did, I daresay I’m going the wrong way about it. All I seem to do is kitten people off.

If you wish to do this by all means you are welcome, but to argue that it is better than skipping would require a very strong case which you don’t have. Nobody is going to stop you doing it. Nobody cares if you do it. Just don’t make some poor pugs do it without advising beforehand. Also, we will naturally find the notion entertaining.

This way of playing IS better for some people. Get it in your brains. There are lots of people tired of rushing everything in this game.
YOU don’t think it is worth. Fine. But don’t think you have a point just by telling you are right and others wrong. Not interested? What are you doing in this post? The OP said it was for those tired of rushing which apparently you are not.
Me, I’d rather PLAY a game than tp from boss chest to boss chest. If you take a game like a job which needs to be lucrative I think you have it all wrong.

Right and wrong are entirely subjective.
However. If I say that pigs lack wings and cannot fly, you would look somewhat foolish to argue otherwise on the grounds that ‘no one is right or wrong’. I would expect a bit more of an argument or even evidence instead of a flimsy excuse.

I just like having conversations. Simple reason I guess.
‘Play how you want’ is something that is upheld by many of the community and the reason it has such negative bearing is because while ‘play how you want’ is fine in an open environment where you only affect yourself, when you are in a dungeon you affect 4 other people whether they like it or not.

The problem is not on the people that want to skip mobs… the problem is with the dungeons design for not having simple things like:
“Mobs won’t drop aggro unless you leave the instance, kill them, or die…”
Something as simple as that will solve “the issue” (please note the use of " since its not really an issue but more of a flaw considering its dungeons we are talking about, it should be dangerous and different than the outside world).
IMO, and I think it’s conventional at this point; dungeons are special closed scenarios where you fight stronger mobs and move carefully. I’m all in if ANet wants to change it but it has to offer something in return… What we have now is a something in the middle… its a closed scenario, with a stronger mobs; but there is no real sense of danger since you can always run a few meters and you are safe… it is kinda ridiculous for a dungeon.

With so many single player games and so many single player options in this very game it is truly fascinating that people choose to play with a 5 man restricted team and still preach “play how you want”.
I actually miss GW1 instances, none of this play how you want BS. You either had the build for the run, or they kicked you from the group. And if you were particularly obstinate about not wanting to be kicked, ejected from the guild.
If you want to play how you want, go play open world zones. Dungeons are group efforts and don’t want 99 percent of the builds out there because they are actually harmful for the team. If you want to make a casual fluff bunny clear everything but take 3 hours for CM group, go ahead, but good luck finding people like that every day.
I agree, the explorable dungeons are very poorly set up. I wish they were more like the story modes in the sense that people kill mobs and actually trek through the dungeon. The story modes are unquestionably superior in design. The running and “strategies” currently employed in explorable mode are pretty darn cheesy. But people love fast loot, how can I blame them for playing in a funnel?
Hopefully the dungeons will get a nice retune, mobs will not deaggro, and the bosses will get touched up. Maybe we can double the chance of dungeon mobs to drop finer loot, or allow collection of additional coin per mob killed, per day. I’m just glad I never saw the explorable dungeons before I decided to buy the game last year.

2) Make them switch rooms the moment the dungeon is created so you have random places to look for them.
3) Fix the mobs dropping aggro inside the dungeon.
Voila! Explorable mode on.

OP’s reason is that you should kill all mobs so that you can make best use of MF.
Most of the other people counter this saying it’s better to just use the fastest build possible, then go farm world events that have much more mobs with better drops (you can even play how you want without effecting other people nearly as much) with the time you save by running a fast/efficient path.

I love it. Perhaps add in a unique dungeon mob loot table. Someone mentioned dragonite ore as an option. Also, it might not be bad if some areas were gated off or raised (like spider queen nook, acolyte hiding spot, the CM rock.) This would at least demand a little pep from the party. At least on queen, gating off the nook would keep my fiery greatsword from being divine. I hope anet makes it beneficial to play that way.

Yeah how dare somebody want to run differently than you? You get to play how you want and force that play style on every person you meet! God forbid that your conflicting play style result in you being in separate parties!
